Greetings, Scholar. I was hoping we might be able to receive a translation from you. I would very much like to know how Fili would have said his line "I belong with my brother" in Khuzdul. It's one of my favorite moments in the movies, and deeply desire to translate it properly using the runes. Thank you so much for your time, patience, and efforts in sharing your skills with us.

Well met Anon,

Happy to help, below your requested translation:

Some further information regarding this translation:

  • Harami: “I belong” [uses the perfect form, as opposed to “ahrari”, the imperfect form. Using the perfect form here is most appropriate as it establishes that the statement is a dependable fact].
  • zai: “with” [Often “ya” is used to translate “with”, but when in relation to people “zai” (also means “at”) is preferred]
  • kharmê: “my brother” [”kharm” the Ereborian variant for “brother”, could have been “nadad” too, also meaning “brother”. “+ê”: “my”]

Ever at your service,

The Dwarrow Scholar
