Can we be done with the “evil Pagan” cliché?
Okay, Hereditary was a good horror movie. (It was kinda slow and certain shots at the end were hilarious, but it was good). I’m used to the evil witch trope. It doesn’t bother me because true equality means there are good and bad people from every race, gender, sex, religion, etc. The bad ones make great villains.
But why, why does that same director now have another “evil pagan” movie coming out. Really? Didn’t he just do that? You’d think he’d find something new and original.
I guess we can’t expect that since Hereditary is so popular.
He now has to take Midsummer, one of the brightest happiest holidays for white witches, and turn that into some evil sacrificial rite too? Because there aren’t enough “evil Pagan” stereotypes out there. Let’s just fuck with one of the best positive times for Pagans too.
But you know what I’d like to see?
Movies about the 2nd coming of Christ, only he’s actually evil but people worship him and do what he wants because he’s Jesus and they have to follow the son of God.
Or maybe a movie about the Christian all knowing male god torturing his subjects for fun. Just for the sheer pleasure of it.
Oooo ooo, how about Santa as a rapist? Or the Pope encouraging his clergy to kidnap and molest children... oh wait, that’s too realistic.
