Finally laid it all out.
It's funny, when you're actually going through hell, you don't realize it until you're past it.
What you focus on determines your mindset and your future
Jessica Marie Baumgartner (The Magic of Nature)
I asked the fire to show me the future
It said: The future's always changing; it has many things to decipher
I asked the fire to help me see the past
It said: The past is way behind you; what is done cannot be removed
I asked the fire what I should do
It said: Focus on today as YOU; that's all that ever really mattered.
Passing Fad
I’ve spent a great deal of time waiting for being a “witch” to stop being a passing fad.
So many of my friends dabbled in high school, then moved on.
In my 20s the late callers got into it and some stuck, but others moved on.
In my 30s I’ve found that more people know what they believe at this point and that’s so encouraging.
Yet society and the media still love playing with witchcraft and portraying the old religion as something it is not. I was reading a Sybil Leek book from the late 60s and found myself laughing at it all because she mentions this too.
She went on and on about the fad and the people who don’t seem to grasp the depth and care of the occult or how magic is a force that lives in us all.
My favorite part is when she notes that it should get better in the next few decades.
I don’t know if the stereotyping and misconceptions have eased up, but there is more acceptance, and exploring Paganism and it’s links to magic & witchcraft is less of a fad now and more of a journey of self-exploration, so I’m happy to recognize that.
Say goodbye to the past and find purpose in the future
Happy New Year
Nothing like variety
People often say that writers are just good liars; I say we’re addicted to variety. Everything I write comes from some truth (even if it’s a granule).
One day I’m writing a kiddie poem about the horrors of eating oatmeal and the next I’m delving into the harsh realities of my own past. It’s a perfect balance.
