JOJ is the next most-requested Phantom at present, and since his performance with Rachel Barrell has been more widely seen, we’re watching him with Celia Graham instead!

This is soooo late but I promise you I had sort of good reasons!!!

This week we will be slightly jumping forward in time, only because there is no footage of this adaptation in the 70s: Ken Hill’s Original Musical The Phantom of the Opera!

This is the original musical that Andrew Lloyd Webber saw that made him want to bring it to the West End! And… subsequently, write his own mega-hit when he couldn’t convince Ken Hill to collaborate. It features NO original music, but all original lyrics (and in some cases a very original story…). Ken Hill took classical music and set it to new words! John Owen-Jones recently starred in another Japanese revival!

This video that we’ll be using is from a pro-shot of the Japanese production (but don’t worry, it’s performed in English!) from 2013, since we don’t have anything else. 

Join us this Saturday, June 29th at 9pm EST for this rarely seen adaptation and judge for yourself if Ken Hill was right to hold tight to his work! Doors will open fifteen minutes prior!
