My followers have heard me gush about the fic Blends so many times over the years because it’s one of my favorites, and the amazing author just dropped the first chapter of the sequel yesterday!  It’s so good!

Go read it now!!

If you haven’t read Blends yet, read that first or you’ll be a bit lost, but oh boy, it’s one of my favorite Wolfstar fics.  I’m loving the sequel so much already!

Names by rvltn909 ( @lefunkbacktothepunk ): Sirius’s throat gains second life and the most pathetic noise comes out of it and by mercy Remus doesn’t hold it against him. A sobering thought creeps up his spine as he wonders why he'd ever think otherwise; if there was one person who would wholly understand that words can fall short, it'd be Remus.      Companion to Blends.

Chapter summary: life after Hogwarts, Regulus and Sirius get some bad news and an Order mission...

Tw: minor character death

Strum und Drang

“Hmm, that smells delicious, Pads,” Remus murmured into Sirius’ neck.

He watched Sirius’ face light up with an incandescent smile.

“I’m cooking you breakfast,” Sirius said.

“I know,” Remus laughed softly, unable to take his eyes off him.

Sirius had only just gotten up, and Remus thought he looked gloriously dishevelled, his silky hair pulled back in a careless bun, moving dextrously around the cramped kitchen. The smell of warm toast, porridge and Spanish omelette made Remus feel ravenously hungry. He had only gotten home in the early hours of the night and fallen into bed beside Sirius, feeling immediately healed, revived, blessed.

“I’ll serve you,” said Sirius, motioning for Remus to sit down and kissing the top of his head.

Remus blinked, overcome by the surge of affection that welled inside him, and nodded. Maybe it was the exhaustion after the gruelling Order mission.

Maybe he was madly and deeply and irrevocably in love…

“Look at us,” he said instead, after some time, grinning at Sirius over his empty mug of coffee. “It’s a sweet, fluffy, ridiculously doting affair.”

“It is,” agreed Sirius, looking delighted and proceeding to spoon-feed him honey and porridge. “Entirely ridiculous.”

They continued staring at each other as Remus carefully cut Sirius’ toast into triangles, and passed it back to him, sure he looked like a complete idiot, a pathetic madly-in-love idiot, and he didn’t care.

“There, I know this is how you like it, posh boy,” he laughed, holding on to Sirius’ hand.

Sirius rolled his eyes at him endearingly and laughed too, trying to spread the marmalade on his toast using one hand only and struggling, but refusing to let go of his boyfriend.

“I made you a fresh cup of coffee,” Sirius said, placing a piece of toast into Remus’ protesting mouth. “Using the Bialetti machine that Prongs got.”

He poured the hot drink with one hand, still gripping Remus’ other.

“Pads, that’s superb, I love Italian coffee!” said Remus, sighing contentedly as he closed his eyes, enjoying the strong flavour.

Sirius stared at him adoringly, entranced by the sight of Remus.

“I want to make you sigh for other reasons,” Sirius’ voice was low and needy.

Remus kept his eyes closed and tried not to smile.

“Oh really?” he asked.

“Oh yes!” said Sirius, in a suggestive tone. “Followed by a long, relaxing shower together, rather longer than strictly necessary.”

Both those things had happened, followed by lounging in the sitting room. Talking, banter, heated discussion about various topics, crosswords, Sirius polishing his boots, muggle-style. Making lunch together, moving around each other, unable to brush past each other without a lingering touch, a gentle kiss, an impish pinch, Remus muttering sarcastic one-liners, Sirius laughing in delight.

If only they hadn’t been summoned to an extraordinary Order meeting out of the blue.

It’s time for Remus and Sirius to begin planning their wedding. Remus is still adjusting to life in the public eye, and Sirius is doing to best to help him along. Will their wedding get planned and go off without a hitch?

“To tell you the truth, I’m not sure how it could get more ridiculous either.” Sirius spoke as Remus came into the room to find him getting out of his button up shirt. If Sirius was given the option, he would have been in jeans and an old band shirt every moment of the day. “This is really the height of things, I think. Even when I was making an arse out of myself doing dumb shite, I don’t remember it this bad.”
Remus groaned and sat on the edge of the bed. “That makes me feel so much better.”
“Well, once we get married and go on our honeymoon for a bit, think it will die down. Maybe Lily and James will pop out another heir. That will definitely draw attention away from us.”
“Could they do it before the wedding?” Remus asked with a raised eyebrow.
“No because then the press will make up fake stories about how you and I are angry about James and Lily taking away from our moment.”
“Why do people think they know everything?”
“Because they suck.” Sirius said, dropping his trousers so he was down to his pants
“They really, truly do.” Remus scoffed as Sirius opened the dresser drawer. “More specifically people in the press.”
“Especially Skeeter, fuck her.”
Rita Skeeter was the loudest voice in doubting Remus’ motives. Everyday she was “unearthing new evidence” in Remus’ lies. Each piece of evidence was obviously made up or taken out of context, and completely laughable. Effie and Monty were very upset with her and wanted to do something about it.
“Did you know that I used to date a Hollywood star and then cheated on said star with a politician’s son?” Remus snorted a laugh.
“I hate how they’re doing this to you,” Sirius frowned as he pulled out a tee shirt.

“Just don’t fuck it up and make me look like Shirley Temple.”

Remus bites down a steely snort of a laugh, worries his bottom lip between his teeth and stares through the scissors in his hand. “And how do you know who Shirley Temple is?”

“The pub down the street from us had public access on that shitty television, remember?”

Deciding not to dive to closely into what the two of them had, Remus heaves a light sigh to himself. “Sure. But you don’t even have curly hair, so you can rest easy.”

Rest easy. What a silly phrase to apply to Sirius Orion Black, recent escapee and current hideaway at Remus Lupin’s hideous shack in some northern hovel artfully scrubbed from the face of topography everywhere, magical or not. The perfect place for a presumed murderer to hide—the perfect place to quietly and accidentally rehash twelve years of absence and decaying fondness that, no matter how hard he’s tried to kill it over time, still burns fiercely at Remus’ core.

“If I had curly hair, I’d have kept it shaved short my whole life.” Sirius’ voice now is like sharpened ice, Remus realizes as he prepares to take up Sirius’ hair in his hands for the first time in far too long. It’s cold and jagged at all of its edges, only harboring evidence of his former warmth if Remus really squints at the sound and pretends that it’s there. It hurts his ears. He stops focusing so intently and sighs again.

“‘Shaved short.’ I don’t think you truly want that, you want it to your shoulders?”

Remus clenches his jaw and slips his fingers into Sirius’ hair, long and thick and just as lovely as his patchy dreams have dared to let him remember over the last decade. It’s a duller black like dawn-dark, greyer than Remus can remember it compared to the memories of youth—the midnight near-blue that used to shimmer across Sirius’ shoulders when he would smirk at Remus across a classroom or pile atop his head like a diadem in repose at their old flat—

“No.”

Blinking once, yanked out of reverie, Remus realizes he has the hair wrapped through his fingers as though detailing a worry stone with a trembling touch. He swallows. “Want it a little longer than that?”

“No.” Sirius’ back is tense, and when he shakes his head it pulls the hair across Remus’ hand in a slipping sluice, black sand through an hourglass, and suddenly Remus wants to clench it all in his fist and hold fast to it to keep time standing still in this strange present in which they’ve found one another again but neither knows exactly where to go from here—here, this tiny little box of a loo with Sirius propped on the edge of the bath and Remus standing dumb with his trimming scissors like a wand at half-ready. Sirius’ shoulders slope slightly with his own sigh; “Cut it all off.”

Remus nods to himself, mustering courage in one breath, and gathers Sirius’ hair into a long, loose ponytail. He twists it once around itself, a black and bedraggled rope seemingly pulled up from the depths of the North Sea to pull Sirius’ own body up with it, a foreign body Remus knows at once like his own pulse and yet of which he can hardly make heads or tails with all those spidering tattoos and the gauntness he’s never seen beneath that skin—Remus twists the hair into a section he can slice off in one go and readies his scissors. “No turning back, you’re sure?”

When Sirius sniffs a bitter chuckle to himself, Remus tries not to feel the sudden press of emotion at the back of his throat for the sodden exhaustion that rings through it. “I’m sure, Moony.”

With that, the rebirth of the name nobody has called him since his world shattered in the middle of an autumn so red he thought he might never see straight again, Remus blinks a tear out of one eye and lets out a low breath. His scissors close around Sirius’ hair in a hiss, and time ticks invisibly over into the start of something largely unknown and slightly terrifying for all its silent potential.

that quiet moment

Modern AU. Trigger warnings - mentions of suicide.

•  It’s summer and Sirius Black is 22, freshly graduated from University, and on a road trip across the country in his old 1952 Studebaker Commander with his best friend James Potter and his younger brother Regulus.

• They’re on the way to Uncle Alphard’s beach house.

•  It’s located in the small town of Hogwarts, and was one of Regulus’ favorite places.

•  Regulus Black had committed suicide 3 years prior.

•  Sirius stole his brother’s ashes, swapped them out with dirt, in order to spread Regulus somewhere he would love to be.

•  Walburga must NEVER find out, she’d honestly kill him if she knew. Surprisingly Kreacher helped him with the heist.

• The car was a project that Regulus and Sirius had been working on together before Reg died. All that was left was the paint job, which Sirius can’t bring himself to do just yet.

•  He talks to Regulus a lot.

•  James had to bully his way onto this trip.  But Sirius was grateful for it.

•  Hogwarts is a pleasant town. Sleepy. There’s limited tourists, and it has a quiet atmosphere.

•  After the first night in Alphard’s house, a neighbor stops by to check on them. Having been told to expect them by Alphard.

•  Peter Pettigrew becomes their unofficial guide.

•  They get along with Peter well, and end up hanging out as a trio most of the time.

•  Peter is charming and is underestimated a lot. This leads to the three of them getting in trouble with some of their older neighbors sometimes, particularly a woman by the name of Minerva McGonagall. It reminds them of boyhood.

•  James and Sirius are only planning on being there for the season. Once summer was over they would head back home.

• It’s on a day where James is spending hours on the phone with Lily, his fiance, that Sirius meets Remus Lupin.

•  Remus is a lifeguard. And he notices Sirius immediately too.

• They flirt. A lot.

• They run into each other at the cafe, market, the library, the shore. Sometimes while walking down the street. It’s not a big town, it shouldn’t be surprising.

•  It doesn’t stop Sirius’ heart from racing every single time Remus smiles at him.

•  Sirius tells Regulus about it. At night, before bed. His brother rests on the dresser in Sirius’ room. He whispers everything to Regulus in ways he never could while his brother was alive.

•  Eventually it’s a quartet when Remus begins to hang around them.

•  They all tend to smoke too much and drink too much and laughter is always happening.

•  And Remus is always touching Sirius in some way? Like, what? Knuckles brushing, thighs pressing, hands on shoulders, leaning into each other. Sirius honestly cannot handle it.

•  He’s also very into it.

•  During all of this, Sirius decides to paint the car green. It was Regulus’ favorite color.

• Summer brings heat, humidity, and storms.

• It’s storming and Peter had managed to get home before the skies broke, and James had decided to call it a night early. Remus, however, was stuck as he and Sirius watched lightening dance in the sky.

•  This is when Sirius tells Remus about Regulus. And the reason why they were at Hogwarts.

• This is when Remus kisses Sirius.

•  They fall asleep curled up together, hands laced.

•  It’s nearly the end of the season when Sirius declares that he was renting a boat. James goes with him because, duh. Peter offers his own family’s boat instead. Remus goes because he’s a lifeguard and Sirius doesn’t know how to swim.

• The four of them are out in the ocean and Sirius has Regulus in his arms, hands fumbling to open the lid of the urn.

• He breathes, and let’s Regulus go.

The Disastrous Date

(The very late post of my Script Swap 2018. Written by @smolbeanbella )

Over the winter break of their seventh year, Lily Evans and James Potter met with Lily’s sister, Petunia, and her sister’s fiancé, Vernon Dursley. Everything was going smoothly until James started talking about his own material wealth. It did not end well, and Petunia and Vernon stormed from the restaurant, leaving Lily in tears.

Sirius shrieks and runs away
