does it lessen your affection?

I've recently unfollowed a number of people because of their negative name calling and general complaining. I get especially confused with this fandom because how does anyone expect people to take their real complaints (ie: representation and lgbtq issues) seriously when they go around calling someone names just because they said something or did something they didn't like or find offensive. It boggles my mind, especially when I see it's an adult complaining instead of a teen fan

yeah lol like you’d think people are toddlers by it, like even the nicknames they come up with are so fucking childish (let alone the contexts in which they’re used) like… “casserole clam”……. “toad”….those aren’t funny or clever in any way…..are you eight years old or…………..

like i said in my previous ask about it, it’s easy to negate the fact that somone e.g. todd is like a real human person because it’s easy to think of him as just this abstract representation of the “creators-of-shadowhunters” so it’s perfectly justified to act in this way. or maybe it’s just the fact that they are just really fucking childish lol, i don’t honestly know. 

i mean, you’re right. it’s okay to dislike someone, hate him even, go for it. im not sitting here to defend todd or anyone specifically. but if you want to have a discussion with someone about the show they’re creating, if you want to be taken seriously, you should (a) not talk like an 8-year-old and (b) show even just a modicum of basic human decency when talking to them. (and even though the above two criteria are resoundingly not met by the fandom at large, the producers/showrunners still listen and respond to complaints.) and then people who insult them are like “why are you ignoring me/not replying to me” like bitch tf do you think you’re going to accomplish like this? lol
