If Earthbound Beginnings had a mercy system
TRUE PACIFIST ENDING “Grunkle Giegue” route. Ninten, Lloyd, and Ana face Giegue together.
When offered to board the mothership, Ninten boldly refuses, his connection to the Earth and everyone on it is far too strong. The kids learned the whole melody, and they sing so passionately that Giegue is immobilized with emotion. He’s overwhelmed by guilt, knowing his mother would disapprove of his actions. He tells the kids to destroy him now since he deserves it, but they refuse.
Their display of mercy reawakens Giegue’s empathy for humanity. He stays on Earth to protect it, and the world is kept safe from invaders for generations to come.
NEUTRAL ENDING (PACIFIST-LEANING) Canon ending, leads the events of Earthbound. Ninten, Lloyd, and Ana face Giegue together. When offered to board the mothership, Ninten refuses. TRUE NEUTRAL ENDING Possibly leads the events of Earthbound.
Ninten and Lloyd face Giegue. Ana doesn’t join them, and instead tends to her mother in the laboratory. When offered to board the mothership, Ninten hesitates, but refuses. Ninten and Lloyd learned the whole melody but struggled to sing it with only the two of them. Giegue remembers his mother, but is only emotionally moved enough to leave temporarily.
Giegue later returns finish what he started, the results of which are up for interpretation. This could possibly be the “all is devastation” timeline than Buzz Buzz references in Earthbound.
NEUTRAL ENDING (NO MERCY-LEANING) Ninten and Lloyd face Giegue.
Ninten’s violent tendencies made Ana leave the party long ago, but Lloyd remains loyal. They never learned the whole melody. They don’t know if they can defeat Giegue, but they face him anyway. Giegue notices how strong Ninten is. When offered to board the mothership, Ninten hesitates. Whether he accepts or not is never shown, and the fate of both Ninten and Lloyd is kept ambiguous.
Giegue completes his invasion as planned, and he conquers the world.
TRUE NO MERCY ENDING Ninten faces Giegue alone, and is confident he can win.
Ninten’s passion for violence made both Ana and Lloyd leave the party long ago. He never learned the whole melody, and instead tries to fight Giegue. Giegue sees how strong Ninten is, and offers to make him stronger. Ninten feels no connection to Earth, and boards the mothership with no hesitation.
Giegue completes his invasion as planned, conquers the world, and trains his new protege to do the same.
