Olicity, Emily Bett Rickards and Arrow Season 8

Let’s just talk about the section of this article that really matters. Cool? Cool. (X)

I think the way Stephen Amell views Season 8 is similar to how I view Season 8.  Arrow, as I know and love it, is essentially over with Emily’s exit. She is the heart of the show and there is absolutely nothing or no one who can replace her. Am I super jazzed to watch Arrow without her? No. Not in the least.

I’m heartbroken she won’t be in all ten episodes and my only hope is she’ll come back for the series finale.

I feel like I will be going back to my Season 1 level of adoration in Season 8. I loved Arrow in Season 1, but I wasn’t obsessed. The show was still finding it’s feet. There wasn’t nearly enough Felicity either and I had very little hope the show would ever go down the romance road I desired for Oliver Queen. (Boy was I wrong). My obsession grew over time and it was because of these two:

That said, Olicity wasn’t the only thing I loved about Arrow. What actually drew me in when I watched the pilot was Oliver’s trauma and what happened on the boat with his father. I wanted to see this destroyed and traumatized man rise.

Marc Geek Vibes Nation Interview

I typed this up to post over hiatus and then completely forgot to post it. Oops! I’m getting old friends.

Marc gave an interview to Geek Vibes Nation and there were some A+ responses to a couple of their questions. If you are a huge comic book fan then give it a listen. Otherwise, I think I pulled out the interesting parts for us television show fans.

Q: Is there any chance that we could get an Oliver/Dinah love angle?

Marc: Umm... I don't think so. Look, I get it. I understand why you are asking. Oliver is the Green Arrow and Dinah is the Black Canary, and Green Arrow and Black Canary are together in the comics. But Oliver is now married to someone who is not the Black Canary or ever will be the Black Canary. And I just don't think there is any desire on our part to tell a story about Oliver cheating on his wife.

Did I listen just for this answer? Yes. Geek Vibes Nation got dragged on Twitter because they tweeted this was an “Exclusive” and “Breaking News.” No, you just asked about a non existent storyline that hasn’t been remotely teased at all. That said, I love Marc’s response. I don’t think he could have given a more definitive answer. CAN THIS QUESTION DIE NOW? I do so love the subtle shade towards L*uriver. They have zero problems telling a story about Oliver cheating on L*urel (mulitple times), but Felicity? HELL NO. I audibly cackled when I heard it.

Q: Is there any chance will ever see William, or in the near future, try to walk in his dad's footsteps of becoming a hero.

Marc: It's funny, that episode that you're talking about which was 6x13, there's a moment that was scripted, and we shot it but it didn't work so it didn't make it in the cut, but basically in that moment William is in the lair with Oliver at the end of the episode. He looks over to where the bow is and Oliver sees him looking and he goes, "Maybe when you're in high school." Unfortunately, the moment didn't play on camera the way we needed it to justify it being in the cut, but maybe in deleted scenes on the DVD.

There’s footage of Oliver and William discussing bow & arrow lessons. My heart hurts for it. However, it played on screen had to be better than the newbie nonsense.
