We know you guys are stupidly obsessed bi x gay but Merlin literally showed more interest in women than Arthur..Also "Arthur would be so inexperienced with men". Shut up, hes knight, they're all gay. Arthur was perfectly aware of himself, He stared at every guy , HE DEFENDED HIMSELF AGAINST EVERY WOMAN AROUND HIM

Like cmon, Merlin fandom, use your brain sometime

I wouldn't mind it if making Merlin gay didn't often end up feminizing him or make him UwU soft

I'm just saying : merthur 👀

Arthur who acts strangely for day but then he catches up on the fact that Merlin didn't notice which isn't normal at all.

I don't think people appreciate how much stuff you can do with Merlin fandom.

It's heaven for fic writers. Let me explain.

Do you need your characters behaving strangely and doing something they would've never done?

Potions/Curses/Evil sorcerers/etc.

Do you need somehow add a new character?

Visiting nobles.

Do you need to explain some wild shit

MAGIC.

Sometimes i deeply regret that i cannot write well, but gods there's just sm variety with Merlin. I don't think you can meet everywhere

you can pretty much shove any trope into the show too and you don't even have to change canon

the fact that you can have a canon compliant Modern AU

love spells and potions are already canon in universe

mind control? yup. evil aus? merlin is already down to murder some bitches so yeah definitely. slow burn? Merlin is immortal and waiting for Arthur to return 1000 years later like? that's the slowest of burns

This fic is going to make on you on the edge of your seat 24\7, GUARANTEED. A mind-blowing plot twist and a new, sinister side of Arthur post-camlann. But we fix him, don’t worry, and it ends happily, I swear. Enjoy the ride!

When I tell you I’m a complete sucker for touch-starved fics, especially when it’s Arthur, I mean it 100%. Short, sweet and so heartfelt. Our love needs to be held more, doesn’t he?

4. Sanctuary by LittleGreenGirlxx [3k+][domestic fluff]

Fluff. That’s it— fluff for our weary hearts. Winding down merthur fics will always be a top need for this fandom. We know enough pain. Complete idiots in love and soft Arthur POV.

I will never get tired of these two sharing a bed, especially when it’s winter. The softness. The warmth. It is moments like these that make us swoon over them over and over again.

arthur doesn’t notice merlin’s magic bc of the gay thing. arthur realizes he’s having Thoughts about merlin and decides the best course of action is to Repress and Ignore. the color of merlin’s eyes? why would arthur stare at merlin’s eyes? he’s not getting lost in them. arthur hasn’t ever looked at merlin, actually.

I love when Arthur completely disregards information. Like the episode in season three when he's getting the fisher kings trident or whatever. And he gets told "you can't do this alone, you'll need Strength and 𝕸𝖆𝖌𝖎𝖈" and he's just like, "cool, anyways". Then his best bud Merlin and this fucking guy he's chummy with show up and he also just like, "cool, anyways" albeit a little more whiny abt his quest getting "messed up".

I'm so amazed by his ability to Worry About That Later.™️.

He also just. Doesn't seem to notice a difference in his physical health in this episode. Not even a "man why am I so tired". He's fit. He's used to journies like this. Merlin and Gwaine got through the same portion he did and weren't even phased, but apparently it was completely logical for him to be having to have a quick nap (read: damsel faint) every couple of hours. Or whatever the fuck the time span of that was.

Love when my Boy Thang servant shows up and the grip of death I hadn't noticed until now is suddenly gone.

You boggle me, blonde boy

*me watches merlin*: Oh. Oh. I stand corrected.

The very first episode, Merlin asks Gaius if his magic makes him a monster. That very same episode, Merlin kills a woman with no hesitation and no remorse, to save Arthur's life.

yes!! and don't get me wrong, I love the fics where Merlin struggles the weight of all of it but canon Merlin? entirely happy to kill and deceive and fight for Arthur. Merlin is a case of becoming the thing you always feared you were for the sake of one man and I think about that all the time

something so intensely heartbreaking about arthur finding out and saying 'I would know.' he is saying, no you're my best friend. you are the one i trust most, I feel I have known you my whole life. you would tell me. magic is evil and wrong and the worst things of the world and you are what's best of the world. you would have told me I would know

Merlin: I have a bad feeling about this.

Arthur: What do you mean?

Merlin: Don't you ever get that little voice in your head that tells you if you're going to get into trouble?

Arthur: No?

Merlin: … That actually explains so much.
