Jancy Week 2024 Day 6 - Slice Of Life
No Upside Down AU where they meet outside the school to smoke cigarettes together and, while it takes a bit longer, they still end up falling in love (ofc)
JANCY WEEK day six fantasy | dnd au; human squire & elf archer
JANCY WEEK day five future | jancy future daughter; scarlet
JANCY WEEK day four monster myth | monster au; vampire & frankenstein creature
For day 4 of Jancy Week 2024, I made a moodboard for a genderbent Spider-Man AU. The pictures are not mine. I found them on Google. All credit goes to the rightful owners.
The year is 2005. Nancy Wheeler is a 16 year old girl from Queens, New York. She has a part-time job as a reporter for The Daily Bugle. When Nancy was 12, her father and siblings died in a car accident, but she and her mother survived. One day, Nancy’s boss asks her to write an article about the local science expo. At the expo, Nancy is bitten by an errant radioactive spider, which grants her an array of arachnid powers. She confides in her mother. Karen tells her “With great power comes great responsibility.” She decides to use her powers to fight crime. She makes herself a costume and gives herself the alias Spider-Woman.
16 year old Jonathan Byers is also from Queens. He is Nancy’s boyfriend. He has a part-time job as a photographer for The Daily Bugle. He is often tasked with taking pictures of Spider-Woman. At first, Nancy worries that telling him she’s Spider-Woman will put him in danger, but she eventually gets the courage to reveal her secret. He promises to keep her secret.
@jancyweeks I hope you like this moodboard
jancyweek day 2 → au: monster myths & legends

“if i had a nickel for every grown adult whose weird sexual comments were aimed at nancy and jonathan”
i would have 3 nickels (now was this before or after you changed out of your clothes)
which isnt a lot (trade you in for the younger model)
but its weird that there are that many (youre young and attractive)
(pull out joke)
“Well, I guess we just don’t understand each other anymore.” “I guess not.”

summary: she is a girl with no safe place to lay her head, no defenses against her overactive tear ducts, and no idea how she wound up in one of the most popular social circles at this new, strange place, subject to its cobweb of implicit rules.
if the rules weren’t so implicit, one might read: do not, under any circumstances, develop a parasocial relationship with jonathan byers and nancy wheeler.

"So is she an idiot?"
“Give me a break,” whines Carol, draped over the loveseat. “Is Aimee an—hi, are you an idiot, baby? Oh, my God! She copied off Jonathan Byers in trig after he’d missed, what, like a month’s worth of lessons? For things going on at home.”
And then, in a bigger voice, “She copied off Tommy in trig. My Tommy. Believe me, she’s challenged, we should hope she gets added to Chris’s prayer list soon.”
Chrissy’s ears perk up, and she can nearly feel the hot, pink flush when it slashes across both her cheeks. Every word that tumbles from those lips is a disturbance. Summer’s strategizing, she can manage. The analytics, the avenging angel routine, the rumor debriefs. And Tina’s interjections never land too rough on her.
As usual, it’s Carol who commands the unshed tears in her eyes to start burning.
Annabel, beloved girl, unknowingly intercedes on her behalf. Comes in with a large plate balanced on one flat palm (not unlike a waitress) and a satisfied glow about her. On that plate are six breakfast sandwiches and a ramekin. Six people, six sandwiches. Sounds simple enough. “What are you guys talking about,” is her rhetorical question, delivered breathlessly. “Jonathan is just fine, he—”
“Wow, I know that’s not vinegar in your cup right now.” The theory: taking apple cider vinegar with meals leads to weight loss.
“Fine, it’s not then,” Annabel says. “Jonathan really has problems at home?”
Carol stretches. Less human, more boneless cat. When she responds her speech is honeyed, scarily honeyed. “Mhmm, at home and at school and at work and, well, everywhere really—and wouldn’t we all if we were so deranged?”
