The light catches her eyes like cobalt glass and I realize my heart is somewhere between my stomach and my throat. “B—”
A brow raises and her lips tilt up a fraction like she’s encouraging me but there’s something off about the way she’s sitting. ‘Too ridged,’ I think but my mouth is already moving before my brain comprehends that face.
"Back there," My thumb hitches over my shoulder but those blue orbs don’t leave my face, "you said that I was the best Blacksmith in all of Castle Town." The only change in her appearance is a light dusting of pink on her cheeks but that’s all I need for a grin to spread across my face. "Really?"
"Your head is inflating, Link." Zelda sighs, shaking her head as she watches me dance around the courtyard like a fool.
"Let it! I’ll snatch a star and turn it into a dagger!" I stab at the air just in time for Deku Nut to strike me in the middle of my forehead. I hear Impa laugh as I crumple to the ground in pain.
"Welcome back."
Since there’s not a dagger in my head yet, I settle for glaring at the woman as hard as I can.
