Angels and The Fallen

this is totally some su pearlrose shit right here but anyway :) imagine guardian au link just totally freaking the fuck out one day during zeldas lessons because he’s trying to teach her something and she’s struggling a bit and he totally just has an outburst and hes like “WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT FOR YOU MY ZELDA WAS ALWAYS PERFECT SHE WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THIS BUT YOU JUST CANT!! You cant… you cant be zelda… you’re not my zelda…” and oooOOOOOHHH my god shes so fucking offended and she starts to break down. and she already has anxiety from the pressure of living up to everyones expectations, so his outburst makes things SO MUCH WORSE. and she just runs away because she cant take it. link doesnt chase after her at first because he doesnt want to confront his feelings, but a while later, after plenty of time to get far, far away from the castle, something the triforce tells him to go after her, and he changes into his keaton form and bolts. something the triforce is guiding him to her- everything is a blur and its almost as if hes on autopilot. he doesnt know quite where he’s going, but the path hes running on just seems too familiar.

and before he knows it, he finds her. in the very same clearing where he and his zelda met all those years ago. but this time the roles are swapped, and its link who approaches her slowly and carefully, while zelda watches him with the eyes of a frightened child. and when he gets close to the spot where she’s sitting, he just falls to his knees and begins to silently cry. those are the first tears he’s shed in years, but it feels to him like it was just yesterday since he last cried- since his zelda passed away.

and the new zelda, being just as compassionate and forgiving as the last, gives him a hug. the gesture is foreign to him, but he knows what it means. link finally apologizes to her and tells her that he does want to help, truly, but he needs help getting over the loss of his zelda. zelda accepts his apology and she gets up and begins to walk away and says “arent you coming?”

“where?” link asks

“with me,” zelda replies, “home.”
