The best running gag in the earlier Spongebob episodes was when it would just randomly cut to live-action footage:
isamu noguchi, “love of two boards,” 1950, seto stoneware
that episode of spongebob where he gets stuck in that town and keeps missing the bus and the road goes into a sharp vertical line so he can’t leave should classify as a horror short film
an underrated spongebob moment

is it not common knowledge that the creator of spongebob is also a marine biologist
No no it’s not. Holy shit he was a genius.
Thank this marine biologist for making the greatest classic show ever.
episodes of spongebob where he does something out of the pureness of his heart and the person he’s doing it for becomes selfish and rags spongebob into the ground about it are the saddest episodes

Christian theologians who theorize hell as a place of isolation as opposed to a place of torture are definitely way more interesting. I actually really like C.S. Lewis’ depiction of Hell in the great divorce as a vast open plane where individuals are constantly walking further away from each other. They could turn back, and even leave hell at any time, but the type of soul they have become compells them to keep diving into their own isolation, and most that visit heaven find it profoundly painful and go back.
