The Golden Raven by Nora Sakavic
Going to sleep knowning that Riko Moriyama died 17 years ago and that the Palmetto Foxes won their first cup that very same day
My life has been quite chaotic the last week and I'm trying to do a proper drawing but it seems the universe won't let me
Whenever I see fanarts of AFTG I think the artist are crazy talented but at the same time they are always dressed so fashionably cool, my boys are losers they don't have that sense of style sorry.
Jean's name being Jean YVES Moreau has me crying cause it means 'yew tree' and all its symbolism.
The cientific name for the species is taxus which cames from latin taxon (arch) and toxicon (poison). The wood of this tree was used for the fabrication of archs due to its flexibility and resistance towards the tension and pressure put upon the object. Moreover, it was widely known in ancient times that the yew tree was poisonous.
By giving Jean the Yves name Nora is implying all he has endured in the Nest and how powerful he is because of his 'poison'. The tree was even known as 'the tree of death'. And it is common to find it in Western European graveyards.
Jean calling Neil Nathaniel was part of his trauma. For Jean he was a Wesninski because Riko said so, there was no option that the Butcher's son was anymore than that. And at the end Jean adressing Neil by his chosen name and even calling him that on his mind was part of his own healing and acceptance. Accepting Neil as a name is accepting Neil's new life and an opening to the possibility of Jean's own new life.
