holy shit
seriously though this is something I’ve had long conversations about. the kinds of gaming porn that get produced around female characters for presumably a cis het male audience really scares me - it crops up very fast, it’s practically a cottage industry and in many cases it’s very violent, very gross. It almost feels like, the more lauded or progressive female characters are, the more exoticized and brutalized they are in whatever game-related porn they are featured in. I see it less as just porn to feed the appetites of people who want to sexualize game characters out of the games they play, but rather taking whatever sexualization is there or expected and using it to further alienate people away from the space with it, to re-establish a new space as only For These People.
I’m pretty sure the reason Overwatch searches are so high is because people want to see Tracer’s ass and not because of whatever the fuck you just typed
lmao
assume 5 searches is 100%
5 x 8.71 = 40.85 searches
terrifying
remember kids: percentages without context don’t give any information about the actual numbers, only their relation to each other.
> the more lauded or progressive female characters are, the more exoticized and brutalized they are in whatever game-related porn they are featured in.
The entire point of the game is to present a diverse set of heroes, and none of the ladies thus far are American, so it’s ’exoticized’ by default. However, the ladies all also have personalities which tend to be integrated into porn, so it’s not just about their appearance. And from what I’ve seen of Oversmuts, they’re usually enjoying it. In fact, that seems to be a consistent theme with Rule 34. Actual violence is pretty rare. Unless you count the ubiquitous gangbang or occasional spanking as “violence”.
Also, last time I checked, y'all completely forgot about this game between Zarya and the Tracer’s Butt controversy, and then shut up again when the new pose was actually more explicitly sexual. For that matter, Bayonetta featured a sex-positive, independent, attractive woman, and feminists still complained. So why are you talking about how ‘progressive’ it is when progressives largely ignore it?

So what you’re saying is that you think the existence of female porn for a game makes people less likely to participate in the fandom?
I’m curious; do you have these concerns for game where most of the porn is M/M and done for women? Team Fortress 2? Gears of War? Persona or any given JRPG? Metal Gear!? I’ll bet I could find a few hot Soap/Price fanfics with a few seconds of Googling.* How about fandoms that produce a lot of F/F stuff for women and girls? MLP, Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Rizzoli and Isles, etc.
*I’m betting at least one of them is set in the Gulag and titled “don’t drop the Soap”.
