I'm trying to push myself to draw Herman more and explore how he emotes with his yarn so I can avoid an awkward style phase in the comic. I'm also trying to mesh his old personality with his new one.
Wolfy and Thema both suggested putting someone he doesn't like in the story and let him react, Lol.
It's a good suggestion. I wasn't sure how I was going to stitch the version I introduced- who is easy going and chatty -with the iteration of him that looks superficially annoyed all the time.
Herman is a SWEETHEART but he's got resting bitch face at times.
Herman doesn't tell people what he really is without a good reason, but if it won't break their world view he'll have a rope of yarn out and he can be pretty emotive with it. He prefers to keep the shapes he makes with his yarn ambiguous. He would rather people perceive it as an extra arm than a pet or a whacky side kick, that would be weird. Occasionally he'll let it have a snake shape or snake behaviors, but that's as far as he goes down that rabbit hole.
*This is the canon design. Herman doesn't canonically turn into a dragon. I hold out the possibility of exploring it in the comic as a 'curse' arc the way I did in roleplay with Thema (or in other ways at my whimsy), but the canon version will always be near and dear to me and a first priority.
