Ashes to Ashes 30 Day Challenge: Day 26: Favorite weekly storyline Series 3, Episode 2  A severed hand is sent to the police station and investigations link it to the murders of several women around the country, all of whom had used the Crescent Moon dating agency. After Alex has unsuccessfully carried out an experiment in speed dating, Shaz, disillusioned with her job and seeking a challenge, goes undercover to trap the killer.

Mrs Glenister What I remember about this episode are Beth Goddard’s lines, intended, I am sure, as an in-joke: ‘Is there a Mrs Hunt?’ she asks. Luigi (Joseph Long) replies, ‘There was, once.’

‘The poor, poor woman.’

Alex: I’d propose, given your reaction to the gender balance of the gang, that this is their first job. Gene: What, New Kids On the Block? Alex: Now, that is a good name for a boy band. Shaz: Guv. Gene: Chris, Take That. It’s the dodgy second hand car dealers. East 17. Chris: Alright, Backstreet Boys. Ray: Yeah, let’s get ‘em Busted. Alex: Oh, god, I’m gonna scream.
forever in love with the writers and actors and camera crew and producers and ah everyone involved in ashes to ashes.

Boy band time Still one of my favourite scenes in season 1 of Ashes.

Why be so hateful toward LoM US? I’ve watched both (started with the US version since I’m in the US) and I found them both to be equally satisfying. I hated the ending to the US version and I think Ashes to Ashes is what ultimately boosts the British version up to equal or...

Oh well I had a well written response to this that took me 10 minutes, analysing the original, American and Spanish ones. And how the finalé of Life on Mars US let me down. Why space jokes are funnier now. But it’s also why Ashes to Ashes let me down, and how I compared Drury’s direction to that of Bharat Nalluri and SJ Clarkson. And how bad finalés take you out of fandom. Then Firefox crashed, right after I finished writing the three paragraphs, as it always does, and took it into digital hell. Damn you, Firefox.

Grassy-ass, Luigi Nice to see Joseph Long—Luigi in Ashes to Ashes—in a new role. He’s still an Italian (though no fake accent) and now a cop, in a small role in Zen: Vendetta. No Quattro for this cop, mind: he drives a Fiat Punto.

Philip Glenister has claimed that budget cuts marred the final series of Ashes To Ashes. Speaking to DS, the actor—who played DCI Gene Hunt in the time-travel drama—admitted that he was annoyed by the BBC’s decision to reduce the money spent on production. “I don’t understand why we do...

The cuts were so damned obvious, too, from episode 1 on. Reusing the Quattro driving scenes was very noticeable. It felt very cheap, especially when you compare it to the last series of Life on Mars. Philip Glenister has every right to complain and the BBC, which deserves every word of his criticisms, should consider itself lucky that he did not utter a negative word in earlier promotions.
