A right is something that those without power, beg or even fight for, from those with power.

Those in power can grant rights as they wish, to whatever particular powerless group they choose, and can take those rights away just as freely when they feel the need.

Rights are compromise. Rights are, at best, a concession granted to you by those you let stay in power by not outright taking away their power. Rights are not freedom. They're permission.

There's no such thing as a little bit, or a lot, of freedom. That's something you either have, or you don't.
