poem, “there’s laundry to do and a genocide to stop,” by vinay krishnan (x). transcription in alt text
I am not an expert on diseases, immunology, or anything medical. But I do read what people who are experts in these areas are saying, and it is not good. We should be trying to avoid reinfection. We should be trying to avoid passing COVID to others, especially elders and disabled folks. We should be really concerned about the future of long COVID. We should be concerned about the future of a virus that mutates this rapidly, especially when it's still killing over 1,000 people per week in the US alone. We should be concerned about the long term damage it may do and is already doing to our bodies, unseen.
Instead the CDC is planning to remove the last precaution we had in place.
Last 7 weeks, it's been over 2000 people in the us dying of covid. And that's just the ones being confirmed dying in the hospital. Over 14,000 people dead and everyone just moved on.
Sure everything is twice as expensive as 3 years ago but at least we also didn't beat covid
saw an anti vax video about how everyone who got the covid vaccine will die in 4 years. I guess since the whole dead in 1 year thing didn't work out the date had to be moved
Click View on Twitter for the thread. Explains how COVID operates like HIV.
Just because line go down doesn't mean it's correct. The CDC changed covid reporting procedure TWICE in 2023, leading to less cases (and therefore deaths) being reported. Don't be stupid. Don't get tricked. Don't die for the economy. Mask up.
With a couple of my covid posts taking off, I'm seeing a lot of people misunderstanding how quality respirators work, here's an excellent breakdown in plain-English with helpful animations and graphics.
AIDS/ACT UP posters updated for the ongoing global COVID pandemic. we must know history & be able to apply it to the current moment. queer liberation, disability justice, racial justice – these struggles cannot be separated. WearAMask #CovidIsAirborne #LongCovid 😷

tl;dr: covid is a vascular disease, not a respiratory illness. it can affect your blood and every organ in your body. every time you're reinfected, your chances of getting long covid increase.
avoid being infected. reduce the amount of viral load you're exposed to.
the gap between what the scientific community knows and ordinary people know is massive. collective action is needed.
And I LOOOOOOVE when those who brag that they didn't take any precautions or didn't shelter in place tell us about how detrimental lockdowns were on people's mental health. Like please, tell me more about what I experienced and you didn't. (And what many immunocompromised people are still experiencing)
