Reminder that fanfic as a whole humanizes queer relationships more than almost any other form of storytelling out there, and it is not dirty or inherently fetishizing to enjoy it✌🏼

Additional reminder that fanfic has been a gateway for literally thousands of people to realize and explore their own sexuality in a place that is safer and more understanding than most offline spaces. It has allowed people to realize they are trans, ace, gay, not gay, pan, bi, demi, nonbinary. It has been a place of support for queer people since before a good percentage of fandom was born. And saying who gets to enjoy what part of fandom in which way is completely antithetical to the whole point of fanfic.

yeah it’s not always good to label people and ‘put them into boxes’, but also sometimes people like discovering boxes and placing themselves inside because they’re cosy and comfortable and they fit just right. words like fat and black and disabled and gay and trans aren’t bad, and people are allowed to put themselves into boxes if it helps them establish their identity

People are like cats. They don’t like being forced into a box, but give them a box that’s comfy and feels right to them, and they will crawl right into it and have a sit.

You’re allowed to prioritize one part of your identity over another. You’re allowed to see it as all equally important and all just as much a piece of who you are.

Just a reminder my blog is trans inclusive. It’s bi inclusive. It is pan inclusive. It is intersex inclusive. It is ace/asexual inclusive. It is aro/aromantic inclusive. It is queer inclusive.

Sometimes you can’t avoid bigoted people in your life. It’s their fault for choosing to be this way, not yours.

Do what you need to protect yourself (within reason), because you deserve much more than to deal with them.

Fact #719: You deserve so much better than to have people gender you based on how you dress. Your gender is not determined by what clothes you put on your body.

You’re not responsible for other people’s romantic feelings towards you.

Aspec labels are good. Microlabels are good. Any label that's useful, that helps people make sense of their identity or orientation, or helps someone feel more comfortable in their own skin is a good label.

Fact #331: There’s no such thing as not being “feminine enough” or “masculine enough” for your gender. Your gender is always real, regardless of it you do or do not present or identify with femininity or masculinity.

yes, you’re allowed to dress that way. yes, you’re allowed to use these pronouns. yes, you’re allowed to use that label and this label. yes, you can do that stereotypical thing. yes, you can choose that name. yes, you can do what works best for you. yes, it’s okay if you’re scared or unsure. yes, I promise you don’t actually need my permission (or anyone else’s) to do that. yes, it’ll be okay.
