Since Russians celebrate Christmas on January 7th, I always assumed one of the Russian Digidestined was Jewish and that dinner we saw the main three having was a Shabbat dinner, or maybe one of them had the others over for a quaint little Hanukkah dinner post Digimon crisis.

(Kenta note: According to my spellcheck Shabbat is spelled wrong, but since I don’t know otherwise, I’m leaving it as is.)

{I'm really late acknowledging this post on this blog, but I did want to eventually clear some things up...}

(Shabbat was spelled correctly!) [Though there can be variations in spelling too, like "Shabbos" in Yiddish.]

Anyway Anonymous here was very much Valid when it came to having Jewish Chosen headcanons.

But re: Jewish holidays in 2002 specifically, Hanukkah / Chanukah for Hebrew Year 5763 began on Friday, 29 November 2002 and ended on Saturday, 7 December 2002, so the dinner would have had to be very post-Hanukkah in 2002 if it was around Hanukkah specifically, as this question has also been asked a couple times by other fans inquiring about '02 timeline' things. (And Daisuke and 02 Chosen didn't travel until closer to X-mas in the timeline, '~canonically~'...)

{Cap by Me}

{The time Daisuke & Ken & Yamato arrived on Miami Beach in 2002, 12/24, X-mas Eve, at "10:15 P.M." time-mark exactly, 'Canonically' = "12:15 P.M." on 12/25, X-mas day, in comparison} [Thanks timezones!! (Miami is in E.S.T, Eastern time zone!)]

{On a personal detail...: Part of my family literally lived in Miami during this year - so we do have memories of the exact ""timeline""!} (Down to weather...)

(Fun Fact: Hanukkah 2003 the very next year, in comparison, began 9 December 2003 and ended on 27 December 2003! So if any Chosen Children shenanigans were happening around X-mas in the following year, they'd very much likely be aware of Hanukkah happening right around the same timeframe and NOT wholly ignorant of it or the fact that Jews, you know, exist in this world that this real!!!-world timeline is based on and in this very series' canon.)

{Also because Jewish-American Chosen Child Steve & Frigimon existed while literally meeting Daisuke and others in New York!}

In the Japanese version, the only line here shown was "In the end, the Chosen Children saved the world from danger. ...", so nothing else specific was noted about the Russian Chosen in this scene, and honestly it's still ALSO my head-canon that one or two of the three are Jewish specifically too - but that this, specifically is an inter-faith gathering seen if so. (Hanukkah is not the same as X-mas, and the X-mas tree in the background would indicate at least one of them likely did celebrate X-mas specifically, but yes!) {As in, the X-mas decorations seen would just be exactly/mainly that to a Jewish Chosen Child: decorations.}

In comparison, Shabbat begins every Friday evening at sundown.

So Shabbat in the year 2002 that week would have been on the following Friday, 27 December 2002 and ending the next Saturday evening, 28 December 2002. (The 24~25th would have been Tuesday~Wednesday.)

On that note, Hanukkah this year (2022!) begins on December 18th going through until December 26th!

[Note: If you are going to reply to or comment on this, please be respectful, since this is a topic involving Jewish people and differences between Christianity and Judaism.] {And yes, I am aware that 'X-mas' is 'celebrated' in Japan somewhat differently; even then the differences are important to note, ok.}
