I can’t even tell you how weird this scene was. Koushirou and Sora bond A LOT over talking about or with Taichi in this game, so it actually didn’t surprise me that they talked about him here. Two things though; first of all, this SEEMS to be the “true” version of the story, because it raises the bonding meter between these two. If you choose the first option, Koushirou will tell Sora about Taichi needing a button sewn back onto this shirt, and that’s basically the “non-bonding” choice. Which… I don’t really get. Because… Does that mean they bond over Taichi being a cheeky idiot more than over him genuinely asking for help??? Second of all, I just adore the implications behind this. Because it basically means that a.) Taichi tells Koushirou all kinds of random stuff and b.) Sora seems to be well aware of how Taichi is and what he does. The anime really should have fleshed out this friendship a lot more.

This is the second option by the way:

Sora and Koushirou making plans to cheer Taichi up and making him feel better is the reason why their bonding meter goes up… I love this song.

Unlike in the anime, Taichi is telling the entire backstory without flashbacks, so he even imitates Hikari’s voice saying “I’m sorry I couldn’t kick the ball properly, Onii-chan”, it’s really heartbreaking. And since there’s no visual aid, Koushirou actually gets to comment on it too. It’s bittersweet that he kinda gets to reassure him here - just as Taichi did for him in previous scenes.

Even during a nice bonding scene with Mimi, Koushirou can’t stop referring to Taichi… These seems to be a theme in this game.

Having friendly interactions between Yamato and Koushirou resulting in them bonding over food/cooking together, in this economy? I didn’t know I needed this before, but here we are.

Similarly to how Taichi and Sora get a lot of interaction opportunities, the same seems to apply to Yamato and Koushirou. Which is interesting, since this - besides maybe Kizuna - seems to be the only medium that makes them interact in a very friendly, familiar and supportive way. Actually, Yamato seems to feel pretty protective of Koushirou the moment he realizes that they seem to have quite a similar wavelength. And that’s a theme that continues throughout the game.

When your best friend is a research nut that ALSO tends to get himself into danger due to it, so you kindly remind him to take care of himself, which gets him either giggly or flustered. <3

It’s amazingly endearing that one of the first scenes they actually share with each other already starts with them bonding with each other over things they’re attached to. I can’t even tell you how amazing this is and I still maintain they should have gotten more moments like these throughout 02 (and Tri).

Op this is a beautiful post and it’s definitely helping me at least.

I caught some of these parallels but not all of them and it’s just really nice to see all the Koushirou validation lined up so beautifully like this.

YES maybe Toei hasn’t always been giving Koushiro Izumi the solo spotlight he truly deserves (alas, not-major-main chara status, and alas, even with him bumped up a bit screentimes-wise in DigiAdv 2020, and before that, he had some similar good screentimes again in Kizuna) bUT what he DOES STILL GET is essentially STILL, Toei + (in canon, through TENTOMON & IZUMIS),

100% VALIDATING Koushiro Izumi Literally Near EVERY CHANCE THEY GET ( and yes, EVEN IN TRI they did this, ACTUALLY... )

... And idek but as a Die-hard TRUE KOUSHIRO FAN TM I feel this is Significant, Actually ???????????????

LIKE, even in interviews and voice actor commentaries they validate him!!:

“ He’s smart, and kind, and compassionate towards others... It keeps coming and never ends. Koushiro really fits that word ‘intelligence’. ”

... And, maybe it’s just me. But as someone who heavily relates to Koushiro Izumi on a deeply personal level when it comes to my own neurodivergency (Autism & generalized Anxiety disorder, for those curious) -

... I feel this constant CANONICAL validation of Koushiro Izumi (including, in regards to his adoption backstory and the continuous story threads connecting all of these little things about him is incredibly significant and I continuously get frustrated ... at just how often all of this in regards to Koushiro’s story, as a WHOLE, gets continuously overlooked by the wider Adventures fandom.

Even more recent canon info that confirms Tai/Kou’s friendship. They keep on coming again now in waiting for Tri., which is why I will seriously cry my eyes out if they don’t show any Tai/Kou’s BFF moments in Tri. later ;д;

Also, if you’re curious about whose chocolate that has made Taichi so happy, the label reads: ‘To Big-Brother ♥’.

People make a huge deal about how Jyou and Yamato are selfless enough to throw themselves under the bus for the sake of the other kids, but here we have Koushiro of all characters offering himself up to Etemon as villain bait. The kid doesn’t get enough credit for it, but he is incredibly brave, and unlike the other two, he isn’t fucking reckless about this sort of decision—he planned to sacrifice himself and Tentomon from the very beginning, and did so in a way that would leave him reasonably certain that Taichi had all the time and information he needed to rescue Sora.

It’s all rather horribly pragmatic. Koushiro wrote the kids’ rescue plan more or less by himself, and it goes like this: the others would attack the base from the outside to lure Etemon out, and once Etemon had found them, they were all supposed to IMMEDIATELY turn tail and retreat. Even if that meant Etemon might figure out what was going on, and head back inside once he realized a few of the children were missing.

And that’s exactly what Etemon did. He went back in, to find the ones who had infiltrated and try to beat Nanomon’s location out of them. Koushiro wrote the plan so that he was the only one of the kids that would enter the pyramid alongside Taichi. Because someone needed to be able to stall for time, in the event that worst came to worst. And he likely knew that it would.

Koushiro wrote this plan so that six of the kids would hopefully survive.
