Rewatching project: Solving riddles in "Izzy style"
Episode 5 of Digimon Adventure was always a special part of the whole tv show, because it introduced the symbols and signs of the Digiworld, which follows us through the whole series. And you cannot mention them without our “mastermind” Izzy.
With his laptop Izzy can solve any riddle and therefore he has a key position in the group. I tried to figure out, what he is actually looking at in episode 5.
Actually there are not only senseless symbols, there are also letters from actual existing alphabets from our “real” world.
- in the upper right corner ( orange box) there are definitely Tamil signs, since this is my mother tongue. ( Tamil is originally spoken in south India and in the north of Sri Lanka)
எ - ”e” ஈ - long “ii”
- in the blue box, we can find the Latin alphabet
- the green box possibly contains Arabic or Telugu characters. Since it is hard to identify any signs, the writing form reminds me of both languages
(Arabic) أنا أحب ديجمون. నేను డిజిమోన్ ప్రేమ. (Telugu)
- it is hard to identify the letters on the left side, but some ( in the red boxes) show similarities to Sanscrit ( an old indian language and holy language of Hinduism), but i am not able to define them colser
All in all , i do not think that each symbol appearing in Digimon has a deeper meaning. Maybe we are not as intelligent as Izzy!!:(
However, it is clear that the Digiworld makers have been inspired by languages all over the world and borrowed some letters.
I think it is fantastic that the Digimon makers did so much research and invested so much time in order to create an authentic Digiworld by using models in reality. It really shows us ther hard work and passion.
I never noticed this before. o.0 Well observed!
The part you say it looks like Sanskrit, could those be part of the Korean alphabet? They seem a bit similar.
As for the digicode itself, can I share a random headcanon? I’ve always been fond of those “digikanas” because some look like a modern take on old viking runes. Here in Portugal we had some viking colonies, ages ago, and they left us a very rudimentary system of language we call “siglas poveiras”. When you go to places like Póvoa de Varzim you can find signs like this. The first time I saw these I had a funny feeling, it was only later digimon came to mind. XD
The above might sound a bit random, but, considering how Digimon pretty much adopted some traits of the Norse Mythos and even decided to call the God of the Digital World Yggdrasil in later anime series and mangas, I can’t help thinking it’s a funny coincidence.
TRI posters analisys
I tried to analize the tri posters and the codes on them, like some details are very interesting. Maybe they’re just coincidences, but… In the Takeru and Koushirou image, not the poster, we can find: 21201010 -> 5619 searching for this number we have: Bradanicline (INN,[1] code name TC-5619: s a drug which was being developed by Targacept that acts as a partial agonist at the α7 subtype of the neural nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. It showed cognitive enhancing effects in animal studies, and was being developed through a collaboration between Targacept and AstraZeneca as a potential treatment for schizophrenia and attention deficit disorder. [2] Phase I clinical trials were completed successfully, and it was in phase II trials.[3] In May 2011, AstraZeneca declined to exercise its right to license the compound.[4] In September 2012, Targacept ended its development of badanicline for the purpose of treating ADHD in adults.[5] It was being studied for cognitive and memory enhancement.[6] Bradanicline was discontinued for Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive impairment in schizophrenia in late 2013.[7] It was also discontinued for ADHD, and no longer seems to be being developed. and what happened to digimons? And the 40 road sign:
If I read 40 as a word, we can haveSHIREI 死霊 しりょう TRANSLATION: dead ghost . 霊 means also : spiritual world/ spirit, soul/ miraculous, mysterious And we have a miracle u.u The movie is the number 4 -> Shi, death. Someone is going to die. Reading the road sign as SHIMARU we have: し 閉まる: 1. to be shut; to close; to be closedesp. 閉まる 2. to be firm (of a body, face, etc.); to be well 3. to be locked 4. to tighten; to be tightened 5. to become sober; to become tenseし 絞まる: 1. to be strangled; to be constricted And we have it, too u.u Again in this movie poster I find: 11010102100100 -> 2193084 -> PMC 2193084, a source for the wikipedia page about sod2 enzyme: it reports. An intact death pathway is required for successful embryonic development and the maintenance of normal tissue homeostasis. And: It plays an important role during embryonal development as programmed cell death and accompanies a variety of normal involutional processes in which it serves as a mechanism to remove “unwanted” cells. Oh, right, the Dark Masters’ group name is written Shitennou, again number 4 (also 4 dark masters contains it XD), so it isn’t a coincidence they appeared in 4th movie u.u The code on 5th movie’s posters is full of 2 and this is strange. Trying to translate it I found a page about a bacterian which is an Opportunistic pathogen u.u Like a symbiosis u.u I find out other things, so, if someone is interested, I can write them ^_^
