“What was that?” You chased after Bucky.
He huffed and you saw his hair shift from a slight shake of his head. “What was what, (Y/N)?” He asked without turning around to look at you.
“You were pulling your punches.” You growled.
“Buck,” You ran to catch up to him and shoved him into the wall.
“What is wrong with you?” His voice raised.
“Don’t walk away from me.” You warned. “And when we spar, don’t you dare hold back like that, again!”
You shoved a finger into his chest and he grabbed your wrist twisting it away and making you groan when he manipulated your arm and body to press you into the wall he’d been previously pushed into.
“Don’t threaten me.” His breath was hot in your ear and you had half a mind to head but him.
“Don’t give me a reason too.” You were playing with fire and you knew it but he’d ticked you off and your brain wasn’t doing much filtering.
Bucky grabbed your neck with his metal hand. “I could break you in a matter of seconds. If I hold back it’s so I don’t kill you.”
You grunted and strained to break free of his grasp but he held you still.
“Don’t.” He tilted his head and looked down his nose at you.
You jerked your elbow backwards, ramming it into his ribs. He groaned and let go of you, stumbling back just a bit. You spun around and kicked his chest slamming him into the opposite wall.
He grimaced and his face scrunched up as he launched himself at you, swinging his fits towards your jaw. You ducked and delivered two quick blows to the soft tissue below his ribs.
He cursed and stepped away from you. Huffing his breaths as he glared your way.
“I’m not as breakable as you think, James. Don’t baby me.” You straightened, hoping this was the end of it.
But as soon as you turned your back you were pushed back into the wall, Bucky pressed against you. He kissed your neck and you huffed. You were supposed to be mad at him and this wasn’t helping your resolve.
He grabbed your jaw and turned your head enough to kiss your lips. His eye were closed but you kept yours open for a moment to study him. His brows were scrunched and his nose flared with an exhale, at any other time that would have plainly express his fury but the way he was kissing you said something else.
He pulled back and loosened his grip on you.
“I’m still mad at you.” You said with little conviction.
“Sure you are.” His hand drifted from your jaw and you turned against him, chest to chest. He ran his fingers through your hair as you two shared the hot air between you. “I’m not holding back because I think you can’t handle it,”
“That’s not what you sa-”
Bucky’s lips pressed hard against yours for a moment, shutting you up. “Don’t interrupt me. I was saying, I hold back because, on the chance that I do hurt you…”
You waited for him to continue. You could see the conflict in his downcast eyes.
“I don’t think- I couldn’t live with myself.” He finished with a broken stare into your eyes.
You just nodded. You knew there was nothing to say that would change the way he felt, at least, not right now. You reached up and pressed a kiss to his cheek.
“Okay.” You swallowed the rest of your anger. “I don’t get it but…okay.”
“Thanks.” His eyes softened and he grabbed your jaw with a smirk, leaning in to kiss you again but you kneed him in the groin.
“That’s for kissing me with out permission.” You winked and patted his back. “Don’t think I’m easy, Barnes.”
He answered with a moan. “Wouldn’t dream of it, sweetheart.”
