my blog title being “the nonbinarification of the master” was sort of a joke about me and my projection or whatever but i sincerely do think of the master with they/them pronouns in my mind in a way i dont with the doctor and i’ve said before they’re both nonbinary to me the master is just nobinarier than the doctor don’t know why. maybe i need to be sent to jail?
I think the Master finds companions particularly repugnant and has a deep-seated need to belittle them and reduce their importance in the Doctors life because they not only feel threatened by their presence, but fear that that's all they are to him as well, in a sense. It's a projection of all that self-loathing they have… like? Despite how they act, they truly are the doctors biggest admirer they just abhor that aspect of themselves. So they just can't help but mock when someone has faith in the Doctor, not just because they know that the Doctor isn't perfect, but because despite knowing this better than anyone, they feel the same and that repulses them.
