Twiyor Parallelism #3.2 ~· Twilight mother Figure

This contains spoilers for the manga.

In my previous post do a couple of analysis of Twilight and Yor individually, detailing individual aspects of their personality and the conflict that raises each character in their background. Now, I want to develop an analysis that will be divided into several parts, about these characters at the point where they are similar and opposite to each other, and how their dynamics develop. I clarify, that this is based on the manga and my own point of view, being my own theories of what it means - but this can change, depending on the course that follows the manga that is in issue. That being said, let's get started!

Now, that I could talk about Twilight's father, I want to explore the other side of parenthood. And I mean his mom

It's not until chapter 35 of the manga, when Twilight after a lousy attempt to seduce his drunken wife, getting kicked to get knocked out. Endo gives us one of the spy's most emotional scenes. Show us the first view of Twilight's past. ~Of course, this memory was much shorter compared to its backstory, but no less significant

The first thing Twilight tells us is that he doesn't remember his mother's face (and it seems he doesn't remember his father either)

Possibly, he conditioned his own mind to forget these memories as a way to protect himself from pain

Focusing on the past, we are briefly introduced that Twilight's parents' relationship was somewhat conflicting. Most certainly, because Twilight's father used to use very abrupt (violent) methods when communicating with his wife and children. So this possibly led to constant discussions.

However, if we turn away all bad events. We can see that in the midst of fear and anguish, Twilight always had a shelter, a place where he would always belong. The warm arms of a mother

Perhaps, his relationship with his father was difficult. But the relationship with her mom has been the best Twilight had during his childhood

For many, the relationship with the mother is perhaps the most important we can have. Since it is our first contact with the world, it is the closest thing to defining our perception of love and a home

The way Twilight defined her mother was "My mother was strong" - (as opposed to his father who I consider strict) Because, the strength of it, it wasn't maybe it wasn't having a brute force ~it sure was a normal woman- But the way she was always for him, cared for his well-being and comforted him in the moments he was afraid because he felt that maybe his world was ending.

For Twilight the peace of the children (and for him) is the highest priority. But it doesn't matter how many agents exist in the world fighting villains. The love of a family, and in this case, that of a mother are the ones that give meaning to life

I know that losing his friends and losing his father (as far as we know so far) was painful. But losing his mother was the most devastating thing for him.

With his mom by his side, Twilight was not afraid, he had someone by his side, he had love, protection, someone who thought of him unconditionally.

Physically losing his mother was what led him to be totally alone, lost and without any trace of love amid the rubble. Without any love, the only thing that allowed him to survive was hatred.

For Twilight, a mother figure is one who loves and protects her family, who ensures to preserve the union and even if the situation is one of the most depressing. A mother's love reminds us of the beauty and meaning of life --It is here, when we see the importance of -remembering his own mother

I hope this is not misunderstood, but, the perception of a mother/( father) can help us build a pattern that defines the way we want to build love with a couple and form a family

In the present....

It is impossible to talk about the mother figure and not to talk about Twilight's perception of Yor.

Here we can see, that Twilight understands that the figure of a mother is not reduced to fulfilling a social role, or standards that others impose to define you as "good or not"

A mother is not just the one who cooks or cleans a house, a mother is the one who really cares for her child's well-being. Any effort to cook a delicious dish for a family or clean, are simple duties that are fulfilled in a home and that both parents do as part of a household routine.

That's why Twilight is moved by Yor's efforts to improve. He doesn't care about being the cook, but seeing the love with which Yor strives to be better for Anya and for him is the instinct of a true mother

Not to mention how he manifests that "Yor is strong" and this is the feature that most admires/and what he attracted about her

I know the manga uses Yor's physical strength. Even mocking how Twilight is shocked to see a downed cow or a broken meter. But it is also, one of so many subtle mangaka ways to show that for which he is attracted to Yor ~So no, Becky's not wrong. Twilight is attracted to strong women

Although, the force I mean is not the force a woman has in her fists. But the strength they have to overcome adversity and still be able to continue to calm and protect their family, and especially their children.

This parallelism was intentional. I'm sure!

Twilight knows the level of sacrifice Yor is willing (or assumes) to reach for having raised her brother. He thinks that Yor might have had to work with his body to be able to keep Yuri (Although, it's not the case, since she's a murderer) - And he knows that this has done the same with Anya. Despite all the dangers Anya has gone through during the Strix mission, she knows that her mother will literally annihilate whoever crosses her path

In addition, Yor always seeks the mutual well-being of both him and Anya. When Loid is irritated to see that Anya does not understand the studies, or seems to be about to argue, Yor always appears with sweet and optimistic comments that calm the hysteria of both.

Even when he feels cornered, believing he's failing in the role of father. She is backing him up, remembering that he is excellent as he is..... And that is why the figure of a mother (Yor's) becomes irreplaceable to the family.

And also, a way in which his feelings for Yor are manifested

Yeah, Anya feels safe with Yor, but she's not the only one. Do you notice how Twilight often seems to identify and project into Anya. Seeing the feelings of the child who was ever in it?

Well, Twilight also feels safe and secure with Yor. So much to tell her truths about her past, as to tell her something as intimate as her mother's memories.

Why tell him that he was envious? Why not just tell a lie that reinforces his mask as Loid Forger? - He was able to deflect the subject on Yuri and downplay it, or just say "I've been alone since my wife died" - In both cases, he was sure to deflect the subject.

But he didn't, he preferred to tell her a truth: How alone he has been, or how alone he was… no friends, no family, no one

Why tell Yor about her mom? Yeah, he may need to bolster Yor's confidence for the mission. But telling this truth goes against his role as a spy, it goes against his strict law of not relating to others.

Simply the way Anya feels safe with Yor, Twilight also perceives her as a refuge, a protection where he can feel safe, someone who comforts him.

I feel, that without realizing it Twilight is developing romantic feelings for his false wife, because he sees in Yor the characteristics that for him define a good mother and wife. And in particular, he finds in it the necessary basis that build love (even if he is unable to admit it or does not realize it). Respect, admiration, effort, sincere, selfless affection and above all the ability to communicate

And it's pretty clear, as Anya and Twilight feel lonely when they don't have mother/wife Forger by their side with their cheerful smile encouraging them

I think the envy that Twilight felt, is because he would have liked to have someone who would have looked after him and protected him as Yoru protected Yuri

~ In other words, he would have liked to have been with his mother always

I felt sad remembering Twilight's pain. But enjoy the analysis I hope you enjoyed this analysis as much as I did!! :D

SpyxFamily ···Ed2 ··· Shikisai ··· Part. 1

Possibly this is a late analysis, but I still feel it is worth talking about this wonderful Ending. I feel that there is so much to talk about that it is impossible to cover it all in one post, so I prefer to talk about it in parts

The light of hope that drives away the darkness

As I mentioned in the opening "Souvenir", the use of light as a symbol of those "we belong to" or "we love", while giving that feeling of warmth and happiness. Whereas, the darkness, represents the "isolation" that the Forger family has had to limit themselves to for their lives.

And in this Ending we can see splendidly metaphor once more…

The fact that Bond is the first to see that light is because he is the one member of the family who can "see" what will happen first, thanks to his own powers. Feeling this ending as "something that will happen that will change the life" of this lonely canine.

...Those who live in darkness

Here we can see two perspectives of the darkness, as Twilight and Yor accepted to walk in the darkness, without looking down, willingly ignoring those flashes of light, isolating themselves from that world to which they cannot belong because that was their decision. They must continue on their paths, unable to waver at any moment.

But that is not the case for Anya, who gazes longingly at the brief glimmers of light, from the world outside. For her, darkness was not her choice.

No action sequences, no training sessions, no prowess with a weapon…

Only the reality behind the life of a spy, an assassin and a telepath… Lonely people, tired of walking in the dark without finally seeing the longed-for peace they yearn for…

But everything changes when they decide to look towards the light and walk towards it.

.

Opening the Doors of their lives

The doors symbolize an access point to a different world, the transition from darkness to light.

And it is when everything changes in their lives, when they allow the passage to the light.

When the day begins for them with a smile on their face for the adventures they will live in a simple, everyday life:

This is Twilght the great Westalis spy, learning how to deal with a culinary disaster. He is no longer just a spy, frustrated by not understanding the clumsy and unpredictable behavior of a child, accepting that sometimes in that routine you will face small doses of chaos. He could get angry and think the mission is failing …. or just smile and try a new way.

It's amazing, when the three of them are apart they live hidden behind their needs and shortcomings, focused on what they can't have. But when they are together, everything ceases to matter, they are a great team, they are allies, they are partners, they are family.

Those differences cease to matter, because they complement each other, they reinforce each other's weaknesses by supporting each other.

Leading as a result to a delicious family dinner, where there is no scene created to appear to be "perfect". It's the three of them sharing laughter, relaxed for a few moments, without having to keep their body expressions aside in order to act like a real "family", forgetting the past or the future. It's just a present moment in family

Dinner time is the transition point, after a day of living as a family, sharing experiences and warm moments together. Until it's time to go to sleep, turning off all the lights and closing the doors again.

Closing all this vision with our beautiful Bond finally at home with his family! The three Forgers are once again behind the door and with that… Their secrets

.

Conclusion

I think the most interesting thing about the new Ending and Opening proposals is the description of a new stage in the Forger family. While Mixed Nuts and Comedy seem to be seen from Anya's perspective, being a fun, charming, action-packed adventure that brings together a spy, an assassin and a telepath, while a war drama happens in a funny way.

Even, in the Ending we can see, an image of the Forgers, inside a "Happy Family" show with Anya in the middle, seeing the transition of her life being alone until she gets to the Forgers.

However, Souvenir and Shikisai shows us a family that becomes more solid and real as time goes by, a family that instead of being "Ideal" accepts every peculiarity and makes it a fundamental part of the family. Without ever forgetting that behind this family, there is still a dark background that visually is shown to us while the atmosphere that builds the whole scene.

The dark, reflects the secrets, lies, loneliness, and emptiness; opposed to the light that reflects the truth, sincerity, joy and comforting union. Both sequences convey sweet, melancholic but very endearing feelings that remind us of the beauty and love between the Forgers, although there are still shadows in between.

Which perfectly describes the Forger's current point in their relationship. While, in each arc the feelings of family become more genuine, developing each character individually and collectively. The secrets of each are a barrier for this love to blossom beyond the darkness and become fully real.

How Loid went from oh, ⭐️my brother-in-law⭐️! To 😒 please go already 😒

Stage 1) Perfect smile, all dressed up, lovey-dovey kit out

Stage 2) Forgot to put out lovey-dovey kit, deep down knows Yuri’s not entirely a threat and he can even leave Anya with him

Stage 3) What lovey-dovey kit? Also, snazzy sweater but more dressed down

Stage 4) Slightly annoyed, no tie, too tired to even pretend

Stage 5) Doesn’t even bother to dress up when he knows Yuri is arriving (he throws in a sweater later) and is just… so, so, so done with all of this

SPY·x·Family·x·Chair Vol 10

Usually I wouldn't jump from Volume 6 to Volume 10, but this is an exception I had to make. Volume number 10 of the manga came out and made us all be in: sad mode for the whole fandom. Baby Twilight appeared…. or rather (Redacted). So at the request of several people we are going to talk about this cover:

Context:

I think the most surprising thing about this new cover is the appearance of little Twilight, since no one expected that Endo, 9 volumes later, would make a parallel of volume 1 with Twilight's origin. This revived the collective trauma of the whole fandom after seeing the past of Westalis' best spy. The second most interesting thing about this cover, is the absence of "chair", since all the covers so far has been a chair designed by some of the famous architects in post-war times.

For those who do not know, after the first and second world war, industries sought new ways to strengthen and many architects sought alternative sources of work, so the design of interior furnishings became popular. Coinciding with the mentality of modern man who sought to strengthen home design. Of course, each chair has its own different concept and context. But like everything in SxF, industrial chairs were also a "consequence of the war" and is an element that has been present on every cover along with its characters.

SxF Vol 10 · Twilight/Redacted

There are many interesting details on this cover

Absence of chair:

  1. I think one of the reasons is to reflect the context in which (Redacted) had to live in is childhood. The absence of a chair reflects the absence of comfort and the loss of everything, projecting onto the rubble. The loss of a house/homes makes all traces of its cozy interiors become just dust and rubble. The way the rubble behind the small Twilight/Redacted, simulates a window of a house that has been demolished.
  2. The birth of who would become Twilight, the spy. As we know, each chair represents the personality of its characters in the current moment in which the plot develops. But, Twilight's childhood is located in the past, being perhaps this exact point where his personality began to form along with all the traumas that accompany it. Each of his stages originated in his childhood, when he was left alone by the death of his mother and disappearance of his father, being a soldier full of hate until finally becoming the best spy of his country. Therefore, he does not have a chair, as the LC2 chair represents the current Twilight.

Symbols

  • While, the gun represents Twilight's childhood as his fascination with soldiers, and also representing the lie he told his father, since instead of buying a book he used the money to replace his soldier toy. This sparked the first time Twilight told a lie that gnaws at him with guilt. However, I see that Endo depicts WISE spies with a gun in their hands as an allusion to their jobs, both on the cover of Twilight and Nightfall, so the shotgun may also be a likeness of what it would be in the future.
  • The soldier's helmet, I think, is a very important element because it has saved his left eye twice, once during his childhood when the first missile fell, and when as a soldier he received another bullet hit. Let's hope that in the future his eye will remain intact.
  • The detail of the radio is very interesting. Possibly it is an allusion to "war paranoia" and "information sources". During Twilight's childhood they played an important role, as many people claimed there would be no war while others succumbed to campaigns against Ostania who considered them demons. Elements that will impact Twilight's entire life, especially his life as a spy.

Redacted

I think if we are going to talk about important and sad details, I think it would be to talk about the person who was once Twilight, the original person who only lives in his subconscious. It is curious how his friends during his childhood considered him a cheerful, laughing and expressive child with his emotions, to the point of crying whenever he was sad, earning him the nickname of "cry baby" (this may be the reason why his dad considered him a coward).

Interestingly, the cover reflects is the sad and serious look of (Redacted) losing all that happiness and repressing his emotions in layers of fear and pain. Being the origin of Agent Twilight's motivation in the future, a world where wars don't exist and children don't have to cry, to prevent others from suffering what he had to go through.

.

.

I tried to write this review without crying, and it was very difficult T_T

The appearance of this cover sparked a furor, because as always, Endo takes us by surprise. Opening the possibility that in the future we will see covers that represent the past of characters, especially the protagonists. I don't know if Endo will do this every time 10 volumes are completed (which would imply a story with 20 to 30 volumes of manga) or he will do it when he tells us the past of each one no matter what number it is. Let's hope to see versions of Anya and Yor in the future.

This analysis was a special request from @nawwhawww hope you like it

SxF Season 2 · · · I love "Souvenir"

Honestly, I got so caught up in the new opening that I think I fainted from the overdose of sugar and beauty I saw in just a few minutes and I've come to talk about everything I loved, especially my speculations and personal analysis:

Anya's life changed "Everything is more fun since dad adopted her."

Just to see how a poor girl, who was treated like a lab mouse, an accident to be taken advantage of. Who ran away from that dark world, to know the outside, was trapped in a cruel world, was adopted but was returned so many times just to be peculiar.

To see the contrast of a girl alone, in an orphanage, without friends. To see her walking next to Becky, her best friend. A happy little girl, surrounded by adventure, love, play and fun.

I love that Anya clung to the hope of being happy, and after so many opportunities she has already achieved it. And even though she is still fighting to preserve that happiness. Being adopted by Loid/Twiligh has been the best thing that ever happened to her.

Yor's background:

I really like the subtle reference, even though most of the opening we see Yor being beautiful. I like how they constructed the image sequence of Yor, receiving an assignment with her cold and unflappable assassin's face, moving on to a scene where we see her walking as a shadow in the streets bringing death with her.

But right away we see a fragment of her taking care of Yuri, in a possible reference to the fact that everything she has done, she did it to protect the one she has loved all her life. It perfectly exposes Yor's "maternal" side, being the best sister/mother Yuri and Anya could have had. Exposing how she sacrificed herself so many times.

The visual references of the Forgers driving around in the car

I don't know how significant this is, but I love seeing the Forger's riding around as a family in a car. Loid/ Twilight driving for sure after planning a whole outing with his family, Yor so beautiful and cheerful, Anya laughing and happy for her day of adventures and our adorable Bond as a gentleman.

Yor being beautiful, tender, sensual and sexy.

For this alone, the opening is already a masterpiece. The reference to Endo's art with Thor Princess bathed in flowers, even in everyday clothes, is a masterpiece.

The use of light/shade

I make mention of how they use darkness whenever it is understood that a Forger is alone or makes reference to their secret/past life.

I feel it's somber atmosphere shows the sadness, resignation and how isolated the Forgers are individually. Yes, well, it is understood that Twilight as a spy and Yor as assassins have made the choice to isolate themselves from the world and their own happiness, for Anya this loneliness was not her choice.

It's a huge contrast, seeing what her life has been like previously to being a family to what the three of them have become together. This whole opening is a display of the happiness they have and will have as long as they are together.

Thor Princess training

This detail is great because in the manga we canonically don't have a scene of Yor in her training days with the shopkeeper. While, there are scenes of her in her assassin work, I would still love to see Yor's past and her path to becoming the legend among assassins that she is today. I thank the anime for having given her a sequence in a few seconds.

The Twilight agent

As I mentioned, the use of dark shots is a reflection of the seriousness with which Twilight executes its work. He lives hidden from the world, almost like a ghost or sudden apparition that he embodies in a respective role/character. But this same lonely man, who lives in fear of a war existing

Now he is someone who cares for, protects and makes these two beautiful girls happy. The contrast of Twilight shooting at a target, to Twilight shooting at a fair to surely win a prize for Anya and Yor, is sublime.

I also love that Yor and Loid are in the same vehicle waving to Anya, as a couple as they greet their daughter!

Mother and daughter!

What more wonderful than to see Yor and Anya with such sweet and intimate moments, a mother brushing and sheltering Anya in her arms as her little baby. Just in the most beautiful and I wonder if Yor's melancholy face in the second panel is a reference to her dismay during the arc where Fiona appears, and the way she hugs Anya is a way of saying that she doesn't want to walk away from her ever

Twilight's point of view

Love this very recent theory, just because it seems so believable to me. Much of the manga Twilight's look is a reflection of his deepest thoughts, which he doesn't usually admit to

The perspective of many scenes seems like Twilight watching Yor and Anya, carefully detailing their happiness, treasuring it as the most wonderful thing in their world. It feels genuine, because of the angle at which the viewer is looking. Anya's scenes are looking down or up, marking a distance (because of the height between them) and Yor's scenes are close up.

The true peace of twilight

I think what touched me the most is knowing that Twilight is a tormented man who longs for peace, but I think deep down Twilight is searching again for the meaning of his life. He looks for a way for everyone to be happy, to have the opportunities he missed, but at the same time, he lives isolated to this happiness, so no matter if he gets happiness between East and West, Twilight was condemning himself to a life of loneliness and exile.

Yor and Anya now represent that light at the end of the tunnel, although his rational side prevents him from pushing away those shadows of the past, and letting that seed of love germinate fully. I hope that in the end he can wake up and realize that he already has everything he needs.

In short, Yor and Anya represent Twilight's happiness and Twilight represents the happiness of the two of them.

I feel the red ribbon symbol at the end, reference: to the red thread of destiny, which is unbreakable. So no matter when the Forger's relationship is stretched or strained, they are already bound together for the rest of their lives.

This opening came to invade my heart and never ever leave.

HeadCanon's list of chapter 68

At least the ones my head thought of reading that chapter.

  1. Yor's favorite fruit is apples.
  2. Yuri and Twilight will end up getting fond of each other because of these absurd competitions. Yuri doesn't have many friends who like him, and starting to compete with Loid is fun for him. Even after revealing the identities, he will keep asking for absurd battles just to have an excuse to spend time together, but he won't admit it because of his childish pride. Twilight gets annoyed that his brother-in-law is like a thorn in his butt, but he finds it endearing how hard he tries to be the best brother in the world. The cups Yuri wins (or Twilight loses on purpose) will be bragged about for weeks to come, even if the score is 9 to 1, but no matter, that one win was worth it.
  3. The family dynamic is so established, all three love to spend a quiet day. The visits are exhausting
  4. No food is delicious to Yor, only the food her husband prepares.
  5. Loid and Yor already have their favorite stores to go shopping in, like any mature couple.
  6. Yor loves that her daughter plays airplane and feeds her. Now she wants to do the same with her sweetie when her hands recover.
  7. Twilight fears that Yuri will never get a girlfriend, so he will never get tired and end up living in the basement of his future home.
  8. Twilight considers changing the lock so that Yuri doesn't sneak in again
  9. There is only one bathroom in the Forger house. So Twilight spends her embarrassing stomach episodes from her ulcers in that bathroom. Anya: Chi-Chi takes a long time to poop.
  10. Loid and Yor are lousy at pretending to be a loving couple. They work best when they're not pretending
  11. Yor will someday see Twilight walk around the room in his black underwear.
  12. Twilight will someday see his sweet wife with those sinful lace 'delicates' walking around the room.
  13. When Yor and Twilight start their real life as a couple, they will feel very nervous. Twilight hides her shyness with twilight mode - very serious; and Yor is a mess.
  14. Yuri is starting to notice Yor's injuries, and through misinterpretation believes that Loid Forger is doing very rough and wild things to his sister at night. After thinking about it, he almost has a stroke and suffers 20 heart attacks.
  15. Twilight's face as he approaches his wife is that of a hungry predator, the equivalent of a wolf about to devour his wife. Yor's face when her husband approaches is a bundle of nerves, timid, and about to collapse. The equivalent of a frightened rabbit
  16. Yor can't control how much her husband turns her on when he's in serious mode - certain
  17. Whenever Twilight sees Yor thanking or being very sincere, she activates the mode: love shoujo filter. She is the most beautiful woman in the world and he wants to please her and take care of her all his life.
  18. Loid would have taken care of his wife all day if Yuri had not been untimely.
  19. Anya is no longer entertained by her dad's battles with Uncle Chihuahua. She wants to do her homework

The potential of these chapters is to feed us with Twiyor crumbs.

SxF · · Mission 68 · · Everything is for Yor!!

Alert: This contains spoilers from the manga

Well, we didn't get the Yuri and Fiona meeting. But at least we did see these two crazy obsessives in continuing chapters. And it really paid off for me!!! This chapter was hilarious!!

Thorn Princess returns!

I really appreciate Endo starting to show other facets of our lovely assassin. We usually see Twilight's work and how exhausted he is, so we don't usually appreciate how hard it is for Yor to be an assassin. Already in other chapters we have come to see her so dizzy from the exhaustion of her battles. It also supported seeing Yor's injuries on occasion, so we can empathize with her work.

Although Yor seems powerful enough to throw a ball into outer space, she still receives considerable injuries. I guess in the Spy x Family universe, there are high-level opponents to hurt the legendary Thron Princess. However, despite the magnitude of damage Yor receives in her confrontations, she ends up receiving minor injuries, such as spraining a finger or having her wrists inflamed. The most serious we have seen her receive was the bullet in her beautiful butt, the impact of the samurai's katana and the cut on her chest, and yet she only felt tired the next day.

I see that Yor always feels that she has to recover in one day from her injuries, I don't know if she has a very high healing capacity or if she puts too little effort in taking care of herself.

Brothers unhinged by love Vs. Perfect husband who doesn't understand what the hell is wrong with his brother-in-law

We all wish Twilight had held Yor's wrists really tight during a heated night of passion. But that's fanfic material!!! ( ͡' ͜ʖ ͡').

I really like it when Yuri appears, although I know that many differ from my personal opinion (which is fine, and I respect it).

That guy just kills me with laughter, he's such a jerk!!!!

It honestly kills me his personality is so over the top and erratic, and being fair, he does produce beautiful Twiyor moments (which he ends up interrupting himself in the end). His craziness for Yor and his personality I think is deserving of its own analysis like Fiona's.

Lesson 1: If a Briar enters the kitchen and holds a knife, it is an imminent danger!

I think this chapter perfectly evidences that Yuri's complex for Yor is not that he is "in love with her". Although many interpret it that way.

Yuri's dilemma lies in seeking to make sense of his existence through his sister.

Already in past chapters Yuri has shown in flashback that he has always felt vulnerable and small in comparison to all that Yor has done for him. Although Yor does not perfectly execute tasks such as cooking, she has worked and made an effort to give Yuri a decent life to grow, study and become a professional.

Considering that Yor probably came home tired, full of blood and minor injuries, plus her brutal strength to break his brother's ribs, Yuri has always compared himself to Yor, feeling insignificant. Being a grateful brother, he strives to repay everything Yor ever did for him. So he wants to feel that he is taking care of her and protecting her, and seeks imaginary enemies to vent his own frustration on.

Lesson 2: Variety in your food is not synonymous with good taste

Lesson 3: Do not leave sharp chopsticks, fish heads and bones in food

I think it's nice that canonically we have a chapter of Yor being taken care of by her family. Too bad Yuri ruins it with his: Let's go compete!!!!

I really feel sorry for Yuri, because he really wants to cook with love for Yoru. But Twilight is a professional chef and pampers his wife's palate every day with delicious delicacies. She is already getting used to the attention Loid gives her.

Such a sweet mother/daughter moment! Glad to see that when Anya forgets the competition between her and Yor. She loves her sweet mama so much and feeds her with so much love.

Open wide... Ahhhhh

Ohhh! Poor Yor, she's having a fit of : Lo-loid?!!! Loid is going to feed me?!!!! Mouth?!? Loid!

My queen! She's so in love with him, she can't help but feel so embarrassed that Loid does these romantic things for her, even when he's putting on that serious face. Twilight and his expression of: for the mission!!!!

Yuri mode: My life went to hell!!! I hate you perfect Loid Forger!

Lesson 4: Basically if you challenge a Forger at his own game you are going to end up with a resounding and humiliating failure.

Becky, Fiona, Damiand and Yuri know it.

Yor treasures Yuri, and always thinks of him first: When she thought her marriage will be sabotaged by Fiona, she thought of Yuri and making him care again; when she thought she would die in battle during the cruise, the first one she thought of was Yuri. She even considered giving up being an assassin as she felt Yuri didn't need her. The Forgers are not there to displace or take his place. Each one of them is there to help and take care of Yor (Whether it's for the mission or not).

However, it will take a while for Yuri to understand that.

Just look at those expressions, for crying out loud!!!!! He is so crazy and clinging to the slightest idea of surpassing Loid Forger!!!!

Someone give him some help and psychological support.

♥♥♥ Shojo love filter ♥♥♥

I wonder if the beautiful atmosphere surrounding Yor, is it a product of the shojo filter of love? (I know the obvious answer is yes) Since these moments always happen when Twilight (And Yuri) are looking at Yor. I don't think it's Yor being especially cute, but her being so sincere that they are dumbfounded at the sight of her angelic beauty.

If so, it would imply that Twilight has looked at Yor through the eyes of love: as the purest and sweetest woman in the world. (Similar to Damiand looking at Anya).

But he is so blind, he doesn't realize it himself. At least Damiand, he was so overwhelmed with his love that he ended up collapsing (Although he is a child, is reasonable).

I really hope that if Twilight in the future has an epiphany, he will understand that that shojo filter is not usual for Yor, but him in love.

But I am placing too many aspirations on a blind man who does not want to see.

Conclusion: While, it's not a chapter that moves the plot forward. It's fun, refreshing, and right-sizes Yuri's character, really exposing his complex and the wrong way he deals with his frustration.

SxF ·Mission 38 · · · Is he the final boss?

Context:

After Loid Forger in false search for his daughter's lost keychain, he not only made contact with Damiand Desmond, apologizing for the incident of the past. He manages to get in contact with his target for the first time, Donovan Desmond.

The appearance of Donovan Desmond

I think it goes without saying that Donovan is a mysterious and strange guy, not only because of his strange look, but also because everything in his body language is difficult to interpret. Twilight explains that despite his thorough research he has not found anything relevant enough to create a "profile" of Donovan's personality. However, the objective of the Strix mission is to uncover "the war plans

If Twilight and Yor have a "twinge," it's because something bad is happening with these people.

Interestingly, both Desmonds use the same strategy of "ignoring" in a seemingly polite way, minimizing the fact that their son was beaten. Donovan himself explains that he knew about the fight because his employees informed them, which coincides with Melinda's version. However, both do not seem to want to make a big deal out of the matter, making the apology unnecessary.

Parenthood is… difficult

Is it necessary to describe how sad this page is? The fact that Damiand tries to disguise his pain by saying "it's a foul against the Desmond family name," when his real pain is seeing that his father doesn't care if someone beats him. Without needing to be so explicit, Donovan made it clear that Damiand's integrity is not a priority in the face of his busy political agenda. Clearly, for both Desmonds, continuing to talk about Damiand generates so much discomfort that they get these "inexplicable" expressions of displeasure.

Worst of all, Damiand is paralyzed with fear by the look on his father's face, and decides to swallow his feelings and act as if "it doesn't matter".

It's curious to me, Twilight's serious expression in those panels because his thoughts aren't showing. I know he's obviously sensing how distant Donovan is from his son, but also, I have a feeling he may be feeling uncomfortable watching a father hurt and ignore his own son's feelings.

Perhaps it is too far-fetched to speculate whether this will bring about emotional conflicts in him like those he once had with his own father, influencing their own paternal vision of which I have spoken in the past

It is precisely when Twilight takes the opportunity to confess something that in reality "is true". For him, being a father has not been easy, learning to understand another human being has been a constant process of trial and error. I know he is taking advantage of this moment to extend the conversation with Donovan, but curiously, Twilight did not seek to agree with Desmond and congratulate him on his parenting method as Melinda's friends have done, or as any ordinary civilian would surely do.

It's as if Twilight is looking for a way to debate Donovan's arguments and show that he disagrees, but in such a subtle and polite way, that it feels unnoticeable. Contributing his point of view, when in reality he is demonstrating that Damiand's feelings have validity and that as parents they should be accountable to anything to do with their children., gently placing his hand on Damiand's shoulder

This confession, however, catches Donovan's interest and he ends up expressing, this:

It is impossible to understand strangers

It seems that according to Donovan, even if people have blood affinity or any other intimate bond, they will never be able to understand each other.

Will people ever understand each other?

If anything, I find it interesting how SxF manages to link such different concepts and make it one, how the parent-child relationship can be an analogy of peace and war.

However, Twilight makes a point to Desmond: Sometimes perfect communication between human beings sounds like an impossible ideal, a utopian world where people can express themselves and agree. From this point of view, peace sounds implausible. Making war the only viable option, imposing your ideals, ambitions and beliefs on the world, so that only one way of thinking reigns.

At the same time, Twilight's words demonstrate a very important lesson:

Communication between human beings should not be ideal or perfect, it is a matter of keep trying and never give up. There will be moments of frustration, it will be difficult and we feel that we should give up or just impose ourselves in a rough and violent way. But, striving to build a good relationship is what can lead us to grow and be better.

There may be parents like Donovan or Melinda, who prefer to turn their backs on their children and act as if they did not exist or were so insignificant as to spend their time on them; or parents like the one Twilight had, people who try to give good lessons, but instead of listening and explaining themselves, they prefer to resort to more aggressive methods to impose their point of view, attacking their children's emotions.

But, there will also be parents who try to be better with effort: It's amazing what a good father Twilight becomes, even if he doesn't realize it himself.

He always tries to understand Anya, even if he doesn't succeed. Sometimes he gets consumed with frustration and becomes somewhat harsh with her, but he has never tried to assault or hurt, let alone minimize her emotions. He was willing to almost-punch a professor for making her cry even if the entire mission was in jeopardy.

Obviously, Twilight is not going to pass up this opportunity to alter reality, and make it seem that his interest in Damiand and thus in his family are mere coincidence, and it is partly because of Anya's (false) admiration for Damiand.

Apparently, Donovan's response was positive, enough to "memorize" Loid Forger's name. However, their retreating glances indicate suspicion, it seems that Donovan is just as intrigued by this psychiatrist.

In the end, we can see the Forger's words affecting Damiand, him as a father manifesting his efforts to understand his daughter, and Anya having the courage to confront her father despite not meeting his expectations. Filling Damiand with enough courage to speak to her father. Although Donovan's approval is mediocre, poor Damiand settles for these crumbs of affection.

It's interesting, the way Twilight always wants to act as the spy, the cold and calculating man, the heartless one with no feelings. But, in this chapter he shows a subtle but evident empathy towards Damiand despite having no reason to do so, after all, even though he is the target's son, his priority is to gain Donovan's sympathy. He encourages Damiand, giving him comfort and respect for his feelings, as he gives him one last look before leaving. Although he has not really been close to Damiand, these brief moments made him understand a little of his suffering, and although this can be used for the mission, it shows that deep down, Twilight is that emotional man he has wanted to bury.

My conclusions:

  • I think Donovan's character makes me think quite a bit, since as Twilight said: he seems like someone indecipherable at first glance. His expressionless face, which change to terrifying and laughing expressions in a second.
  • Many people commented after Melinda's appearance, that maybe Donovan was just a puppet, but at the moment it doesn't seem to me to be the case. So far we can't be completely sure if Melinda and her husband are allies, or if they are distant people with their own paths. However, after observing the pinpricks Yor and Twilight had in their respective encounters, they give me to understand that both can be dangerous, capable of activating the fear fibers of a spy and an assassin. So, linked or not, they both strike me as mysterious people.

Does Demond have a past?

  • I wonder if Donovan's words have some tragic background that led him to think this way. Knowing that in Spy x family every character has a truth to protect, maybe some experience led him to believe that people are incapable of communicating and understanding each other, union being a dead end, and war is the only way men have to exist. Those who win the war will have power and dominance, while the weak will be placated. I hope that in the future we will get to know Donovan's true background and he will not turn out to be the typical villain who is evil just because "yes" and there really is a deep and dark reason.
  • If we think of the Desmond family as an opposing force to the Forgers: I mean a family whose composition and values are radically opposite. Whereas Twilight and Yor were victims of war, and were driven to want to build a better world and eliminate all those plagues that turn the lives of innocents into a battlefield and tragedy. But also, it leads them to try to be good parents to Anya even though she is not their biological daughter.
  • We might think that Melinda and Donovan were also victims of the war, but perhaps with a different kind of life and circumstances: perhaps they came from wealthy families who did not suffer the impacts or ravages directly; or perhaps, they suffered in a way that led them to resent the world and want to make it succumb to the war.
  • It would make more sense, when we think about how opposite the Forgers are as parents. They are a fake family that started out of convenience with a foster daughter. But they both try to make Anya's life happy, try to devote their time to her and give importance to her feelings. They learn and recognize when they are failing, and support each other when the other feels discouraged.
  • The opposite of the Desmond couple, who are described as a distant and disinterested family in the suffering of their children, and their relationship as a couple is cold and distant, completely losing interest in each other and the only thing that seems to sustain their relationship is power and status.

So, if the Forger family in an analogy to the search for peace, communication, learning, empathy and support that different people can give each other, building a family. The Desmonds may represent the opposite pole, a family that seeks war, they are distant, cold and without any interest in what happens between them.

  • Personally, my biggest concern is Damiand. Since among all the characters he is the most innocent and the one who has the most to lose. If the Desmond parents are the irredeemable villains whose end is to end up imprisoned or only remains to eliminate them, Damiand will eventually lose them, being left alone or with his brother. Even if someone were to take responsibility for it, the weight on his heart will remain, because he truly loves his parents and longs for their love and attention.
  • This leads me to question whether the Desmonds will be that kind of antagonist who can be vindicated at the end, and change. And with that, wanting to learn to be better parents to Damiand so that this child has some hope for the future. Although it seems an unlikely scenario

SxF · Chapter 56 · · · Family Vacation

I have been analyzing some chapters of the Spy x Family manga, because it seems to me that it has very interesting details to interpret. I clarified that these analyzes are made from my own point of view, so you are free to have a different opinion. I am based on the content of the manga, and much of what I say here are theories and reflections. And being a story that is in print, events can change and contradict each other. With that said, let's get started.

This is possibly one of the most beloved chapters by fans, for giving us the Forger family vacations. At the beginning of the chapter, we can see our dear Anya excited by the arrival on the tourist island.

Like the daughter, like the father!

The best thing about this is that we can appreciate the abilities of the Starlight agent Anya to observe, analyze and find the weak point of the Twilight agent, and apply a complex manipulation strategy. Apparently the telepath has learned very well from her own father. So the king of lies and manipulations has just been manipulated for his own 6 (4 year old) daughter.

Anya: Papa's so easy!

I love Twilight's blush of embarrassment!

Yor finally manages to reunite with her family, and enjoy her short vacation with her husband and daughter. Having fun and somewhat...dangerous moments

At the end of the chapter there are MANY to highlight

1 · Mutual purpose:

Something important in this arc is how Yoru's conflict is presented to us as she has to make an inevitable choice between her job and her fake family. Although the Forger family started as a cover to be an assassin. With the passing of time, Yoru has realized the happiness that being part of a family gives her. That is why now, having a Shopkeeper position with a higher level of demand and danger than she is used to makes her realize that sooner or later she will have to question what her true priority is. Leading Yor to question "what is his true purpose?"

Interestingly, when Yor has talked (subtly) about his work with Twilight. We notice how indirectly he is attracted by those words. It's as if Yor has the ability to express what Twilight can't admit in front of them for fear of revealing his identity and opening up emotionally. So it could be said that it is a scene where they share a special bond, despite the fact that they do not know it.

I don't know if you remember, but before, we have already seen a similar scene. In chapter 3, which in my opinion, makes a certain parallel with this chapter.

In both scenes Yor indirectly speaks of her own job perspective. And although she had to lie during the cruise so that Loid would not find out that she was in a battle between assassins. She can't hide his look of genuine satisfaction.

When we look at the initial Yoru, and do a retrospective of the arc in the cruise. We see the clear contrast between the motivations and the desires that being a murderer represents. Apparently, while Yuri was growing up and began to be economically independent from Yoru. She began to lose the sense of her work. But she doesn't seem to want to admit this. So she began to depend on her job to feel that she was good at something. Yor has always felt out of place with the world around her, and although she looks naive and somewhat clueless, she was aware of how unusual it can be, so the idea of aspiring to a normal life would be impossible. This obvious insurance gap is the reason she became exhausted from her job and even lost.

But after this battle against the rival group of assassins, Yor began to understand that she became an assassin because she has a valued value to protect- The peaceful life!

It's interesting how Yor's perspective on her work evolves as the story progresses, and while Yor still has a lot to learn, it's clear that something has changed. We know that the reason behind Yor's assassination job was to ensure Yuri's future. She doesn't really care about the political background or ideals that Garden (or other organizations have), she just wants Yuri and innocent people to have a quiet life. Even if it means she never has one

When Yor started to wonder about "being a murderer is more important than having a fake family" is when Yor loses her own center at times, not knowing what is really important to her.

It's great, to see how in the end she understands that both aspects are important, they are part of her, and one motivates the other. Yor understood that she fights to defend something "that she believes in" and wants to protect, even if she needs to dirty her own hands, and even if she must risk losing the Forger Family. But that sacrifice will be worth it as long as she can ensure that there is a peaceful world for Yuri, Loid, Anya and Bond. (Although she does not know his secrets). It will annihilate those people who want to get rich at the cost of causing another war that will take away the happiness of the most precious thing.

The family is more important than being a murderer, but she will continue to be a murderer to protect this family.

Yor's satisfaction in finding "balance" and "meaning" in her work is felt in this scene. Killing or making money is not his purpose, nor his motivation, it is the joy that comes from seeing Anya and Loid being happy, and seeing Yuri grow much more as a professional every day. And she wants to make the most of this even if the day comes when she has to part with them.

. . . .

On the other hand is Twilight....

It's funny how Twilight had this time the supporting role during a battle. Since generally this is Yoru's role in other arcs. Even so, there are very subtle but very relevant details in it:

In previous posts I talked about how Twilight's look was an indication of when her emotions are real.

They are those small, almost imperceptible spaces where he becomes sincere even if he doesn't realize it. Curiously, these moments occur frequently when he is with his family, in fact, many of these looks have been when Yor is together. Quite possibly, these events are due to the way in which both identify.

Yor and Twilight come from very opposite circumstances, developing different personalities. But, the way they come to find their own reflection in the other. And this is what allows that when one exposes an honest and authentic side, the other can understand it perfectly and share it.

Meanwhile, in mission 3, Yor talks about "seeing other people makes her think about how her work contributes to their lives", while Twilight absently watches a group of children. Which coincides perfectly with Twilight's purpose of "a world where children don't cry", the happiness of the most defenseless has been the first motivator for Twilight to continue in his purpose in the same way as Yor. For this spy and assassin, their only reward has been to see the indirect results of their work, accepting that no one can know the truth of what they do.

It's similar to this time Twilight looking at Yor, because he too wants this peaceful life to endure in time.

But being more personal:

The Strix mission has allowed the two of them to experience "this happiness". A simple, quiet life, but full of valuable moments, what is special is not what they "do" but the people you are with.

While Yor seems to accept her fake family as something real and special to her, becoming one of the reasons why she must continue fighting in order to give her family a better world. It shows that although both are lying, and using each other. The reasons why he does that is because of the genuine desire to give the other a better life.

And while Twilight tries to appear immune to these feelings, scenes like the one below prove otherwise.

Later, we see one of the scenes most adored by us fans and that is to see Yor fall asleep on the shoulder of her fake husband due to the exhaustion she carries from so many days of endless battle.

Your whole world is in your hands, Twilight!

I think it's important to point out how Twilight and Yor never downplay each other's work, despite having no idea of their true professions. Yor believes that Loid is a psychiatrist, but he always notices how tired it is for Loid to get home from work and still fulfill household duties, and the stress he shows in his whole body.

But in this arc, we appreciate how Twilight feels that Yor's work is difficult, exhausting, (and that she clearly misses her), respects her time, believing that she is just a city hall official. And the smile of pride and appreciation when seeing, that despite being close to giving up due to fatigue, she dedicated her whole day to sharing with Anya. This smile is not an obligation, he is not playing the role of "the good husband" in front of anyone. There is no reason to think about Yor at that moment. But he does it because he wants to

It is clear that when both disconnect from their work and allow themselves to enjoy the moment. They both feel happy, comfortable and connected to each other. Both recognize and respect each other, although they are unaware of the true sacrifices they make on a daily basis.

My reflections…

I think the most remarkable thing in these chapters is how Endo makes the aspector more aware of all the ties that unite the Forgers, and the authenticity of their feelings and their constant process of learning and exploration. Convincing us that they are a true family when they are united. But, in each Forger's individual perspective, they remain trapped within their own bubble of lies. Feeling alone, misunderstood, carrying their own weight. Although lies are the reason they are together, it is also what separates them. Because no one realizes that everything they need, they already found

Although I have seen people think that Yoru has not evolved at all despite this arc. I disagree with this idea: Yuro remains insecure about her role as mother and wife. In addition to the way it unfolds with the outside world. And although her nature is to be shy, nervous and sweet. She has clearly grown. This arc dealt with Yoru's "motivation" and the relationship that exists between her work and her family. Conflict that came to a teaching. Therefore, Yor is more motivated to continue with her aspirations. I think that her fear as a mother and wife is a topic that will be taken up again in the future.

I am glad that Yor understands the risks of being a murderer, and although she feels that in the future she can stop belonging to the Forgers, that does not limit her from making the most of her stay in the family and above all that this should not limit her own aspirations.

I think that Yor, step by step, must understand that she must not give her actions to others. Clearly, Garden (in antithesis to WISE) taught Yor to act without questioning anything, to only obey, and this would bring him benefit (money to raise her brother, and create a supposedly better world). She must understand that she must fight for her own desire and motivation, and not depend solely on Yuri, the Forgers and especially Garden. Each aspect is important and part of her life, she must create her own criteria and set her own limits, and with it, begin to trust herself. But this will surely be something he learns over time as future arcs go by. (Especially with the appearance of Melinda)

Also....

Twilight and Yor are not enemies, regardless of what their organizations think. They pursue the same goal, and are willing to make the same sacrifices. But also, they both yearn deep down for the love that was taken from them (the love of a family), a love that accepts you and motivates you to improve.

And if at some point in the story, they become openly on opposite sides: It's not because they're bad guys, villains or enemies. It will be due to prejudices, misunderstandings and fear that cause this conflict that may or may not occur (depending on the circumstances), caused by the truth that they do not know.

But it is evident that sooner or later, they will have to realize that in reality they both want the same thing: peace… a quiet life, and to see the smile on Anya's face.

.

.

.

I liked to analyze this chapter, because after chapter 66 perhaps for many we feel that the Forger's relationship will go down the wrong path. But I feel that seeing these chapters, we see that this false family will have to face changes, new obstacles to get stronger.

And although the truth seems painful and difficult to cope with at first, it can also be the cause for the Forger Family to become real in the future.

Special thanks to @yuushin7 for suggesting this review. I loved making it, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing it.

Although, this chapter has a bit of a confusing scene for readers who depend on translations, as it is not very clear "who is really" speaking. (@tare-chan made a clarification confirming that Yor is the one monologuing)

I appreciate your comments and opinions, and if you have a chapter as a suggestion, I would also like it :D

Spy x Family Chapter 66 · · · Seed of mistrust

This contains spoilers for the manga.

This chapter has really made me enter an emotional turbulence that I don't know how to process. So I think I'll have to talk about this chapter in several parts

Before I talk about Melinda and the rest of the Desmonds, I want to talk mainly about Twilight in this chapter.

I was a little disappointed that Twilight's reaction was so natural. I was expecting a more epic expression, but I guess Endo preferred to take this issue more seriously and leave the jokes to Anya. Although well, I guess this is the funniest thing we can find xD

As we imagine: WISE, has very little information regarding the Desmonds. Each of them has a circle so small that it is almost impenetrable. So approaching Melinda with any attempt can be a huge risk. This could put any of the members, either Melinda or Donovan, on alert and end up isolating themselves to the point of being impossible to discover their plans.

I am beginning to understand the WISE conflict.

They are totally blind. They seem to have faint hints that the Desmonds are involved in something larger, and more dangerous, associated with war. Possibly, Donovan or Melinda, are the key to access a vast network of evil that is spreading. But they have covered themselves with such a deep armor that not even WISE has managed to have information about it.

There is nothing more dangerous than not knowing "where the enemy is"

This explains the constant pressure and fear of the organization when seeing that many attacks, and crimes are happening. But there is no solid basis to draw a conclusion or theory that makes sense, and tie up all the loose ends.

It is here, when Twilight himself feels with little information to theorize on his own.

Clearly, something is up with Donovan and Melinda's strange relationship. They are obviously an unconventional family and the "rejection" and "indifference" to their children, especially to Damiand, even becomes "terrifying".

This is more of an assumption. But I don't know if Melinda was forced to be Desmond's wife and perhaps have children when she didn't want them. This seems to go beyond a family deteriorating over time… or a marriage that has lost its love. It seemed that both of them were only fulfilling a role and maintaining the relationship for a true "convenience": power, protection, influence, social image, prestige, etc.

I wanted to dedicate a whole post to this topic, but I think I will try to make a brief mention:

Remembering the cruise arc. The shopkeeper mentioned that a split occurred within the secret government. While in the past the Gretcher family ruled the underworld in an "honorable" way, currently a man "with glasses" (by the figure represented on the panel) took power and started a division, being the reason why they were hunting to Olga. We are given to understand by the Director that "they do not support the war, much less those who try to make a fortune off it." So it is understood that Garden is against the radical sector that seeks confrontation.

Now, what side do the Desmonds play regarding the secret government? Are they supporting and financing the radical sector whose plans are war? Or are they on the same side as Garde?

Or much worse… what if the Donovans or Melinda play both sides and keep up appearances with both the radical and non-radical sectors. In this way, it is a game of double betrayal, no matter which side wins, they would benefit.

It also comes into question whether Melinda is against her own husband, whether for better or worse. And if this division that separates the Desmonds is not only "for sentimental reasons", but arises from political ideals… there is too much that we do not know

Maybe that's why the shopkeeper didn't see a problem with Yor getting involved with Melinda. But the way he says that "if anything were to happen, then of course… for that reason, I wouldn't exactly recommend it"… I don't know, it gives me a bad feeling, It is as if the shopkeeper thought that: The closeness of Yor and Melinda is not a problem at the moment, but it does not ensure that this in the future will be dangerous

But this topic deserves a separate post….

Although, it is strange the idea that the meeting of Melinda and Yor is planned. That means the Desmonds have been watching the Forgers and they haven't noticed. Which, is strange, considering Yor and Twilight are keen to notice when they're being watched…

We know that Yor was only the mall at Anya's request, so if Melinda planned it, it would be because she's been watching her from the beginning.

But, as Twilight himself supposes. It feels strange that this is a joint strategy of the Desmond parents. So it may be possible that it remains a chance event, risky and beneficial.

This really worries me....

I know that many talk and highlight how Twilight is willing to protect Yor… but… actually… this doesn't really relieve me… on the contrary, it worries me.

¡It breaks my heart to see that by now Twilight's mental bias is so ingrained in him that his first reaction is to distrust Yor!!

I understand, he is a spy, he was trained to distrust and see the worst case scenario. He does it to preserve his own security, and that of his work. But that he mistrusts Yor in the slightest shows that she does not have his absolute trust and this may continue to be repeated more in the future

I'm glad that Anya immediately clarifies that it was because of her wishes that Yor went to the mall. But even so, despite everything they've been through, living together, and Yor's efforts to be a good wife and mother, Twilight doesn't seem to realize (or doesn't want to) how important he is to Yoru. He represents a motivation for her, and she does not want to hurt him or betray him. Yor's ideals are not political, nor interested. Her support for the shopkeeper and his ideals are only because she feels that being an assassin could "protect her true interests", the love of her family.

I understand that Twilight is blind to Yor's job as an assassin. But the fact that he still feels the possibility that Yor is up to something behind his back: either handing him over to the SSS, or colluding with the Desmonds....Clearly, he still has a long way to go…

For even though Yor doesn't know he's a spy. She never doubts anything about him.... Although, well, she's very naive… still

The way she looks at him. She feels so relieved, motivated and happy that he has her back.

I know Twilight is being truthful right now. The transparent speech bubble tells us that he really thinks that way. I'm sure that if Yor had met friends, other than Melinda, Twilight would support her so that she had fun, and could expand her social bonds.

But with Melinda and Donovan in the equation, everything becomes so risky and unknown.

And as it is a habit in him, he will always say that everything about it is for the good of "the family facade".

I know that Twilight deep down has very important feelings for Yor, I think he's sincere when he doesn't want to risk her too much, and above all that "he will be ready to protect her".

But also, I feel like this sets the stage for the Forger family to start to crack. Considering that the Shopkeeper felt obvious suspicion about Loid Forger and his attempt to get close to Donovan. It may mean that Garden becomes interested in investigating the sudden husband of his best assassin… and if this leads to the assassination organization associating him with a threat, they either think he's a colluder with the Desmonds (whose party may be financing war plans and strategies), or they discover that he is a spy. Twilight and Yor's identity may be compromised in the future.

Which can lead to more distrust and dangers….

In other words, Twilight has never suspected that Yor is an assassin, and yet she feels the need to question his trust in her… the fear that she will turn him over to an enemy, or that she is planning behind his back. persist in it. If in the future Garden begins to show interest in him, it may lead to their identities being revealed.

.

.

feel very sad for Yor…. She is getting caught in the middle of a battle that she didn't ask for.

She clearly looks confused and unsure.

I feel that Yor deep down felt that he should mistrust Melinda, because of her terrifying expressions, her omissions, and such covert phrases… But she is not one to reason intellectually about the events of her life. It is her emotions and her instinct that warn she of the risks. But at the same time, she feels that she should not waste the opportunity to have friends

She just wants to have a quiet, peaceful life, to feel integrated into her family and the world around her. But these insecurities make them vulnerable, to fall in the middle of the conflict of WISE, Twilight, the Desmonds and Garden's actions… And I worry that she will be hurt and emotionally wounded.

I don't want to sound dramatic or negative. But I feel that Endo is telling us that many things can happen… things that the Forgers have to watch out for.

I know that Anya's efforts, they are funny, help to lower the tension of the chapter. But it's sad to see that Anya understands that Twilight's reason for being with her has been the Strix mission, and feels that the affection she receives from him is only for the "mission". If she is no longer her father's main plan: Plan A and plan B, she feels that she will be left aside and therefore abandoned

Clearly this is not true. Twilight truly loves Anya as his daughter, even if he doesn't admit it. But the weight of the Strix mission, the constant stress, pressure and preservation lies. They make each of the Forgers inside let themselves be enveloped by their insecurities.

Although Anya reads Twilight's mind: she feels that his thoughts (and emotions) are too confusing to interpret and she questions the stability of her happy and fun life.

This sparks a war between mother and daughter (something Yor has no idea about) for Twilight's attention.

I have always believed that the Forger family is an analogous representation of the peace between Ostania and Westalis. One family/two countries, happy and at peace based on lies. But when the truth is unleashed, it will be the end of this "illusory" peace and will bring with it many tears

I worry that the Forgers get so wrapped up in their own ambitions and desires that they end up embroiled in a trope so dangerous and entangled that it's hard to escape: Twilight, because of the mission, Yor in her attempt to be "normal" and "accepted ", and Anya in her longing for her father to love her and not abandon her. That the Strix operation begins to get complicated and with them leads to all this bomb of lies being unleashed

And this is when feelings become confused… What is a lie? What's the true? Who is an ally? Who is enemy?

I feel like there's a lot of drama coming up… and while this may not have an immediate effect… I hope that each of the Forgers get through it… and especially that they can understand that they are a true family and see beyond lies, ideals, war, and ambitions.

And the three of them understand, that no matter what they are a spy, an assassin, an experiment and a dog that sees the future. They all look for the same thing, a home.

SxF · 65 ··· Desmond's mother

Warning: This contains spoilers for the manga.

Last time I talked about this chapter from Yoru's perspective, regarding her adventure in the mall, where she met a possible friend, ending up in a volleyball game. That nice woman ended up being, nothing more and nothing less than Melinda Desmond. Damian's mother and Donova's wifen

It is here where the fans burst with emotion at the range of possibilities that history showed us.

However, I really feel that there is nothing conclusive to analyze the Desmonds in depth. Except for Damiand, the Desmond parents have had very brief appearances (so far) with no information regarding their "intentions". Everything around them is a mystery.

Although, I have read a lot of other fans' impressions on the internet and they all seem interesting to me. At this point, I think any plot twist is possible. Endo can surprise us at any moment with a new character or event, and we are all stunned.

So, like everyone else, I'm going to fall into the speculations and theories:

Who is behind the war?

I couldn't tell if Melinda is or isn't a spy from Ostania, let alone that she is the "final boss", since this statement seems too hasty to me.

Personally, I believe that behind the war there is not "one person", but rather this is a vast network of individuals whose ambitions can be achieved through war. And whether these are direct allies or not, there are a lot of loose ends that we don't know have a connection to the Desmonds.

To begin with, I doubt that Desmond is just a "puppet", his life as a "strange" and "inscrutable" man, added to the distrustful look he gave Loid Forger as he walked away (Just as Twilight looked at him too) , implies that he is someone difficult to go through.

I am more inclined to the theory that Melinda may be an ally of her husband, fulfilling other roles and functions within the "possible" organization to which they belong.

We are all curious that Melinda looks like such a sweet and kind woman, but she did not appear the day Damiand entered Eden. Which, implies that she is not exactly "a selfless mother"

There's something strange about this whole thing and it's...

Since his first appearances, Damiand has made it clear that the education he received from his family is the greatness of the Desmonds, and that they should not get involved with people who are not on the same social and economic level. Interestingly, Desmond showed no problem talking to Loid Forger. Surely, he tries to maintain a civilized and "apparently" friendly posture due to his political role and treating another father of a family badly would affect his campaign.

But, curiously, Melinda did not show contempt for Yor at any time and none of her friends "contempt" her, on the contrary, they were all very kind and wanted Yor to join their "social group"

Perhaps, this is due to the contrasting personalities of Donovan and Melinda, as husband and wife. But also, it can be a "strategic" role, for both, as cover, and as they exercise control with their closest allies/friends.

This would make sense, since WISE is not directly looking to kill Desmond. Since, he is not behind the war, but he may be the main connection to all this web of events that are happening: terrorist attacks, assassinations, the division of the secret government into a radical sector and the other not, the Apple experiments. .. etc

Although, I'm surprised that WISE has never sought out relationships with Desmond's wife or eldest son, or because they don't come close to the Desmonds' existing friendships. Everything revolves around Donovan in a direct way… and the strategy of approaching Damiand does not seem very feasible (He is just a boy)

I don't know if in reality every Desmond has a social circle so closed that in reality, they are just as impenetrable. So, Yor having entered the club is something that no one could do unless they have the support of an insider… which seems to be the case with the chapter.

Could Melinda Desmond be the intellectual equivalent of Twilight?

When I say "equivalent" I mean it could be a person who is on the same level as Twilight when it comes to socially integrating with other people and manipulating. Although, she may not be a "real spy"… or maybe she was in the past. The only role you have to play now is that of mother and wife

Now, I can't help but notice a bunch of similarities in Twilight and Yor's meeting (Chapter 2) - Melinda and Yor (Chapter 65). Although both chapters have different developments, there are certain similarities

1. Yor's dilemma:

In both chapters, Yor questions "normality" and her own eccentricity. Although Yoru has been growing up according to the plot, she still can't get rid of the idea of "not being a normal person", feeling left out. And although Loid and Anya have declared that they love her as she is and her role is perfect. Yor seems to need someone who is "in her shoes" - Yor longs to experience so many things that her constant fears make her fear failure and she doesn't allow herself to relax and enjoy herself freely.

2. Casual encounter (But very convenient)

In contrast to Twilight, Yor's encounters seem to happen on a casual basis. And well, it's consistent with her, since Yor doesn't plan anything as he doesn't have a reason to. Of course, these coincidences occur few and are momentous events.

While going to a tailor shop Yor ended up in a deal with Loid Forger, her fake future husband. Here Yor ended up meeting a friend and they ended up in a volleyball match.

I think this event was coincidental, mainly because of Melinda's surprised reactions at the end of the chapter and how Endo focuses her eyes

This always happens with Twilight when his gaze is a visual resource for the viewer to understand when he is "lying or not"

The radical difference is that we can always see Twilight's POV. But we can't know what goes through Melinda's mind (at least for now)

3. Their reaction to Yor's force.

Twilight and Melinda seem to be the first people (other than Yuri) to get to see Yor in action. Far from feeling scared and fearful, they see this as something incredible!

Here I wonder if Melinda could see Yor's strength, and like Twilight think "this woman is perfect for my plans". Although, Melinda does not necessarily want to hurt Yor. He is more likely to want to "have her around" as a possible friend or ally. Since not only is he interested in using her to win a friendly game, but she seems insistent that he join "Lady patriots society"

And it's funny, because, if you remember… Before all the events of Camila's party, Twilight's intentions were to join Yor as two people who do each other a favor, while he weighed a seduction plan.

What if Melinda, in that short time, has the same idea? Integrate Yor enough until it is easy to convince her in the future of something

4. Symbols

This was one of the most relevant details for most readers. Symbols often subtly represent that the character belongs to "something." Some are more obvious than others, like the Twilight pin that represents WISE

Interestingly, they are both "eyes".

I don't know if these are surveillance "cameras" or not, as you think. Or are they just, jewelry with some connotation of belonging to "some organization" Although it would be interesting if Melinda turns out to be/was a spy. Now working with her husband.

These skills to socialize, belonging to a club with the women of the highest spheres of power (an invaluable source of information), the innocent interest she shows for Yor make her suspicious.

Melinda's role as mother, wife and friend may be totally real.

But he uses his real facade for his true intentions A lie covered by truths. Which is totally strategic.

I don't know why these two panels give me the same feeling

Regarding the Strix mission

At this point we all have a collective idea: How is Twilight going to react? This was the most convenient move and he didn't even have to watch (I'm sure it will be a funny face)

This may be your ticket to Desmond's plans. But it is something you may have to do carefully. For if Melinda becomes as smart as we think she may be, she can tell if Mr. Forger is a man to watch out for. Added to that, I don't know what plans Melinda has, and if they could put Yor at risk

(We know that Yor is invulnerable) to almost everything. But I'm sure Twilight won't want to risk her danger anyway… but… It's worth the mission, isn't it?

I'm curious how Melinda plays. If your interest is to become close friends with Yor, and try to make Damiand get closer to Anya (Although I would be surprised since she doesn't seem interested in her son) (Damiand only seems close to his brother and it seems that the relationship is not very good )

I also wonder if Melinda could have an impact on the Forgers' relationship as a couple, if she tried to absorb more of Yor's time by squeezing her a bit from her family?

What do you think?

Hi, I love your Spyxfamily analysis! There's something I want to ask you to analyze. Does Yoru feel attacked to Twilight? Her office "friends" think he's good looking and I think he knows he's good looking as well, but so far, Yor hasn't said anything.

In my opinion, currently she's fallen in love with the family, but I'm not sure about her feelings for Loid.

What do you think? Any predictions on how this might develop?

Oh! Thanks a lot! I'm glad you enjoy my analyses! Precisely, I did an analysis of chapter 35 of the manga where I talk about that topic.

But if I have to give my conclusion, it would be:

If I had to define the relationship that Loid (Twilight) and Yor currently have, it would be two people with a "romantic attraction"= They like each other, they have chemistry between them, respect and admire each other, and genuinely care about each other's well-being, and they find in each other the support and the desire to be better to see themselves happy.

This for me is the clear definition of "love". It is a relationship that is being built and from which they are constantly learning.

But, we must keep in mind that Twilight and Yor have not been "conventional" people. Their lives have been plagued by a lot of pain and abrupt changes that have prevented them from living stages of their lives. So it's natural that their perception of "being in love" is low.

Obviously, the state of their current relationship is very complicated, there are too many lies and conflicts surrounding the life of the Forger family. They are two strangers who agreed to a deal for convenience, started a relationship by cohabitation, and both think that their jobs are impediments to having a happy and peaceful life.

For one, the other is an ordinary person, and both want to protect the quiet life of the other. The two are willing to do anything to preserve the peaceful world where the other lives. Without having any idea, that they both pursue the same ideal, and share the same feeling.

Twilight's problem lies in his fear that the world could descend into war at any moment. Reliving all the traumas that accompany him from childhood. This prevents him from wanting to accept whatever feelings are growing for Yor, Anya and Bond. If he does, it would be admitting that he has become attached. For someone whose ideal should be peace, having personal longings becomes selfish. He feels that establishing any relationship will end badly, whether he dies during a mission, or has to fulfill a mission that takes him away from the family.

Just like Yoru, she clearly expressed fear of receiving a wound that would make her move away from them. For Yoru, her ideal of "protecting the peaceful life of others" is important. Because if the ambitions of people unleash a war, the people she loves will be harmed.

It is normal, that they have not openly admitted any feelings. For them it is not easy to do it, because falling in love wanting to start a family can currently have many implications and would only confuse them more. The romantic feelings are there, but they are not ready to accept them.

So it's easier to justify everything by saying "I do this for my mission", or… "I do this because I love being in a family". They are barriers that both use so as not to deal with the implications

Regarding the development....

Well, it's hard to predict the direction Endo wants to take. So far each plot twist is more surprising. In addition, the actions of the Forger family are subject to antagonists. It is still a mystery what is the cause behind the war and the plans behind it.

Let's keep in mind that SxF is a dramatic comedy. Endo's main focus is to explore "the consequences that war produces", and how love can heal and give a second chance…. And not so much a plot of love

But, none of that prevents Twilight and Yor from getting together. Especially when the entire plot strives to create that bond full of feelings, learning and tension… The two are fools when they are close to each other 💜

However, I think that Endo is individually and collectively developing each of the Forgers. Developing Anya, Yoru and sometimes even Bond

Twilight's development is more complicated. Because even though he is constantly changing, breaking all those implicit rules in his work, worrying about making his wife and daughter happy. He's not ready to admit it, and live in denial

So I assume that at some point he may begin to recognize it, or… an event forces him to accept these feelings.

But I think that for the moment, we will have to wait for the plot to develop
