SxF · S1 · Part2 · E1 "Project Apple"

Warning: This has Anime Spoilers

It's a joy to see our favorite family back on screen, having our SxF Saturdays. The best part is finally seeing the arc of our next Forger member, the adorable and heroic Bond. This review is from my own point of view:

Introduction:

I love the family scene between them having breakfast. When I saw it in trailer I swore it would be the adaptation of mission 24, when Yor tries to improve her food, but it wasn't the case. Which makes the series have these continuity details, showing that Yor has cooked a couple of times for his family, without much success. Which may contribute to the reason for taking cooking lessons in the future.

I love Loid and Yor's face of fake spouses in love on a honeymoon, while Anya is about to choke on her mom's food.

Later, we move on to Twilight's resounding failure to adopt a muscular, protective dog from a kennel owned by WISE: I simply love Anya's expression of "I'm not angry, just disappointed" as Twilight suffers a fit of "Anya rejected the dogs!!! There will be war!!! Failure on my mission!!!".

This man will be finished with so many attacks of stress, panic and anxiety
Literally my face is Anya's, when I look at puppies, kittens, rabbits and any super adorable animal

Continuing with Twilight being called on a mission and suffering a sudden bout of "stress stomach ulcers", having to quickly flee the scene but without his family finding out, and I love that Yor is such a considerate wife to wait for him. But Agent Starlight Anya helps out on the decks for Agent "Dad" Twilight's mission, making it clear that her dad takes a long time to poop.

Twilight's blush is just beautiful!!!! He is embarrassed that his beautiful wife finds out about his bowel routine!!!!!

I love the animated appearance of secondary WISE Agents, and the whole weaponized tactic to uncover the college terrorists. I'll just say that this is one of many times Twilight says "it's about the mission."

Then we have some excellent acting that literally deserves an award for being so improvised. The great Twilight!
We will always love our Fullmetal lady! Every appearance of Sylvia is elegant and magnificent, I am looking forward to her scenes in the next chapters!

Telepathy and Precognition

I love that even though Anya and Bond come from such a sad past being treated as experimental subjects they both have a "hero" instinct to help others, their powers make them feel like freaks but also help them save others even though they are risking their lives, not forgetting that they are vulnerable. This makes them have an instant connection, seeing that Anya is the only one capable of seeing Bond's visions and realizing that they will be together in the near future.

Although Anya had to disobey her parents again, she preferred to find out what was going on. After finding those poor puppies whose fates seemed sealed, our Anya is caught by the kidnappers, in a rather intense scene, of which there is much to talk about:

Return Ostania to glory:

Keith's words are from a leader who is trying to influence other young people and sow a romantic vision of war and violence. They are planning to assassinate an important figure, to cause a spark that will ignite the war. This has been a theme running throughout the story that we still have no idea of the background.

  • Return Ostania to its glory? The only thing I can speculate is that Keith is not really a leader behind a war, as there will surely be someone with much more economic power and might, who surely introduced him to these ideas of war to then be rewarded with money and power. Being Keith a leader capable of influencing a small group of university students ignorant of what a war really means. Being this figure who gave the money to finance the purchase of these dog bombs.
  • I don't know if this speech has some truth to it, or it is just manipulated information to cause war. Did Westalis do something in the past to make Ostania believe that they were being robbed? And that because of him Ostania has lost something….. Or maybe it's all a lie to influence weak minds to resent the West.

It is too early to make this kind of speculation, as there is no certainty in the actuality of the manga. But knowing that at Eden Academy there are parents who are such powerful political and social figures, it may be that among the younger teens and future college students there are students influential enough to lead these terrorist attacks, getting their hands dirty and functioning as covers for those who are orchestrating the war within the shadows.

Could Demetrius be influencing them in some way along with his father Donovan?

In several future arcs, it will be mentioned that these terrorist acts only seek to ignite a "small spark" that will make Westalis and Ostania reactivate the war conflict.

The Apple project

Another of the great mysteries in SxF, is that in the past the government tried a project with animals to surely create weapons to use against Westalis, a project that failed and their failed experiments ended up on the black market. This being the origin of Bond (And most likely that of Anya).

We do not know concretely where all these people involved in the project went once dismantled and if they are in cahoots with everything related to the underworld. (Our only clue is the figure of the black-haired scientist with glasses that will surely appear in the next chapter).

Admire Bond's transition from: "I'm the toughest and strongest dog here, no one will touch this little girl" to "I'm a little doggy, sweet and small, don't hurt me."

Poor Bond has suffered so much mistreatment that he is terrified that someone is going to beat him up. Whoever hurts Anya and Bond deserves to die at Yor's hands.

Yor is the mix: between protective mother, legendary assassin and overactive imagination.

She literally outdid Spiderman in one chapter.
I love that like any concerned mother she imagines the worst case scenarios of what happens to her baby. Although she went to extremes

As I said, Anya and Bond's connection is the strongest point of the chapter. It's funny how they both represent perhaps the most vulnerable and innocent beings in the world: children and animals. Two fellow adventurers united by the tragedies they experienced but have hope to find a place to call home and seek genuine love.

Just an adorable and funny scene even though they were going around and around, and almost getting caught by the villains a second time....

….But there is no need to fear

Yor mother lioness/tiger/bear/ protective of her baby will not let them get hurt

The most powerful mother takes action!
The No. 1 cause of death on this show is "trying to hurt Anya."

Conclusions:

It's a great arc, with an excellent anime adaptation, and surely the next chapter with Twilight's scenes, and Bond and Anya's heroism, added to Yor's killer kicks will surely give us epic and funny moments.

I liked Bond's bark, it's a little weird, but I think it's because in the manga it's implied that Bond has a particular bark that a person in the dubbing justly performs.

The only thing I can say, that even though it's an arc that seems to have a routine antagonist, with a casual adventure of the Forger family in search of a pet. It is actually much darker and deeper because it is the beginning of many mysteries that the manga has been leaving since the beginning. Starting dozens of theories that we can now see in the anime about Anya, Bond and the war.

Added to a beautiful Ending that deserves its own post!!!

Score 10/10

SxF - Missions 30 and 34 ·· Agent Nightfall

Warning: this contains scenes from the manga

After having analyzed characters like Twilight and Yor in the past, I think it's a good time to talk a little bit about other characters. I clarify that this analysis is made under my own point of view, based on the content of the Spy x Family manga, which is currently on the air. So you are free to express your opinion differently. That said, let's start

Context

Nightfall's character has her first appearance during mission 30 who is being assigned to a mission alongside agent Twilight. During her conversation with Handler Nightfall shows interest in the Strix mission, especially for the one who occupies the role of the "Forger wife", in a sudden request to "change mothers". Which Handler denies, as at this point it is unnecessary and risky for the mission. Which makes Nightfall say some peculiar words, hinting if the current mother "abandons her role" In that instant we discover the fame that Fiona has in the agency as a ruthless woman who does not waste any opportunity to gain/steal merits. She cold expressions make her come across as terrifying and ruthless

Development:

Later, Fiona finally introduces herself to Yor Forger, while Loid and Anya went for a walk, an opportunity the spy took advantage of by using Anya's magnifying glass as an excuse. After receiving a cup of tea, Fiona hints at a part of her intentions, "to usurp Yor Briar's role as mother" using the pretext that she may become a hindrance to the mission.

It is here that Nightfall begins her strategy of intimidation, openly using arguments to destabilize Yor's role as mother. An argument that at first doesn't work given that Yor is happy with Anya, her energetic personality is enjoyable to her and the two spend most of their time together. However, as we all know Yor is very insecure to the point of always minimizing her functions, an advantage that Fiona takes advantage of to "lie". This is when we see the first red alert, in which Fiona comments that Loid is in the habit of complaining about his wife at work. But this is interrupted by the arrival of Loid, Anya and Bond at home.

Clearly Twilight sets off alarm bells when she sees Nightfall at home, for one thing it's against agency policy, plus this could mean "something serious is going on." Starting with a conversation in code, between the agents. Nightfall does not hesitate to question Twilight's performance and strategy. Which obviously didn't sit well with the spy. His displeasure becomes more obvious when Nightfall hints at Yor's bad job in the family, since according to her, Yor Briar should be in charge of everything.

Fortunately, Anya can read minds and shed light on what is really going on and is:

Nightfall is madly in love with Agent Twilight.

It's at this point in the plot that it all makes sense. Nightfall is in love with Twilight and desperately wants him to want her to be his wife. But not just for the mission, but to someday be the real wife of Westalis' top spy.

Continuing with the fake visit: We see that Fiona has a great insistence on belittling Yor Briar, clouding any objective judgment. When Yor pours lattes, for Loid she stresses that Twilight likes black coffee. Her paranoia worsens as she sees Loid pour milk into his coffee, and she ends up shielding her argument with "this is just doing it for his role" (It's all due to his disastrous stomach ulcers). This whole situation takes a turn, when Anya spills her cocoa, triggering Fiona's negative thoughts towards the girl. Willing to apply torture methods that will make Anya an efficient girl for the mission.

Anya displaying her acting skills takes the opportunity to declare her love for her mother and her efficiency to clean the cocoa, and unleash her absolute rejection of Fiona as her mom. Finally, after Yor vows to do his best to clean the cocoa for good. Loid (Twilight) makes an important statement:

You alredy work hard enough, …. just look how much Anya cares about you...

Here, we have our second "watershed". While the Forger family has a special moment. We go inside Fiona.

In a brief flashback, we discover that Nightfall was Twilight's student in the past. Who was the one who told her "not to show her real emotions at any time". She in her unbridled admiration confesses to us that she has meticulously studied Twilight during her other characters. She knows in detail her "fake smile", and what she can actually see is that Twilight's smile is genuine, and a part of her emotions are being externalized. Her discomfort, she goes to the point of quickly leaving as if she is trying to run away, but Twilight intrigued goes after her, and in a melancholy scene.

An exciting tennis match:

To be brief about the tennis match. We know that Twilight and Fiona are assigned to a new side mission. Bypassing everything involved in the match, we can focus on the interactions of the two agents.

For starters, one of Fiona's (somewhat silly) strategies is to use the cover of the two as husband and wife. Which oddly enough, makes Twilight so uncomfortable that he himself questions why?. Then, that one reveals that he was dabbling in sports with his family, which indicates that Twilight was playing around with Yor. Nightfall obviously dislikes this, and assures herself that Twilight will see her as perfect, leading him to fall in love with her.

Each match can be summed up as: Both agents are monsters on the court, as their skills allow them to crush their opponents despite their opponents' blatant cheating, and Nightfall is desperate to prove how athletic and efficient she is, delusional with the idea that her mentor is watching her. As they head into a break, Nightfall finally gets an approach from Twilight. But far from being a romantic move, it's a wake-up call for her not to let her guard down and watch her integrity. She is clearly going overboard and letting her emotions get the better of her. She, unable to resist Twilight's touch, acts as if she is rejecting him and shoots him a murderous look that the spy interprets as contempt. She shudders at the idea that Twilight shows genuine concern for her.

Then, in Chapter 33. Twilight congratulates Nightfall on her excellent performance, which obviously pulls at the heartstrings of this enamored agent. But in the face of Nightfall's carelessness, Twilight saves her by using her body as a shield against a fake bullet and the use of a bulletproof vest. Finally, both agents complete the mission and congratulate each other.

Declaration of war (love)

Already in chapter 34, we start a scene a little sad for Nightfall. When she is disappointed to see that all her performance in the mission did not make Twilight fall in love with her and she does not see her as "the perfect wife". This causes her to challenge Yor Forger, who is with his daughter in the park to a "friendly" tennis match. All for the purpose of humiliating Yor in front of Twilight; Yor who understands the subtext behind that request accepts the game for fear of being reported to the SSS and losing her fake marriage.

And well, we all know the result. The brutal downfall of the agent and her hopes of taking down Yor are so insignificant in the face of Yor Forger's monstrous supremacy. Ending with Nightfall and her outrageous tears and a hilarious scene escape.

My personal opinion:

I wanted to make a summary of those important scenes so I could explain my point regarding Nightfall/Fiona's character. I tried not to compare her with Yor, because I want to be neutral and not let my preference for her cloud me and be as unbiased as possible with each character. Those comparisons I'll reserve when I do an analisi of the love triangle.

Now:

Nightfall's character strikes me as interesting and an important addition to the cast of Spy x Family characters. Not only is she a WISE agent, but she was also Twilight's student and reveals interesting details about the character outside of Twilight's insider perspective. Both characters are clearly close, as a mentor and mentee can be, as it is from that bond that learning comes.

Although, she fulfills the typical function of "being the love rival" and the character who is "madly in love with one of the main characters". Her weight in the story can be felt, because thanks to her, Yor's feelings can be explored from several angles, and being a WISE agent she manages to be at times a Twilight ally and Yor's antagonist. As far as I like her character, she gives us funny moments that go perfectly with the story, without falling into a predictable love drama that feels stuffed or unnecessary. His appearances really contribute to the development of the events.

Mission sabotage:

I've seen person make comments of "Fiona would never sabotage a Twilight mission", which in my opinion is not true. This whole arc was a sabotage of the Strix mission.

If we put ourselves in Fiona's perspective from the beginning of chapter 30. Yor Briar should not be considered a threat, the whole act of "changing mother" was just to justify her desperate longing to be Twilight's wife, hoping that during their cohabitation he will fall in love with her. Ignoring that in the eyes of the neighbors, society and Eden Academy, Yor is Anya's mother. Therefore, a sudden change would put the Strix Mission at enormous risk and thus Twilight's identity. For starters, Loid could be left as a cheating man who was surely having an affair with another woman, until finally divorcing his second wife. In and of itself, being a widowed man with a second marriage while raising a daughter is not well regarded by society or by the school. Now a third wife would bring him under social scrutiny.

Also, the way she tries to break their relationship with lies like "Loid keeps complaining about his wife" are fatal to Twilight's mission. We all know the spy's efforts to appear to be a happy family, this kind of lie breaks that image being a breach of the agreement Yor and Loid have. If Yor were a little more sensible and less insecure, she could have claimed Loid for making those comments, as it breaks their happy family image and puts her at risk of being reported by the SSS, and that's what the fake marriage is supposed to be about in the first place. That would make Twilight realize that Nightfall was sabotaging her mission, causing unnecessary trouble..

Obviously this didn't happen thanks to Yor literally believing any negative comments about her even if they come from a total stranger, and not being able to discuss these issues with Loid for fear of upsetting him.

Also Fiona seems to see Anya as a "deficient object", who just gets in the way of the mission and has not been disciplined enough. Considering very aggressive methods that would surely make Anya's life the worst. Anya has already suffered a lot, sees herself as a freak with powers, and currently feels that her father only wants her for the mission. If Anya had a mother who treated her the same way, her school and home life might be worse. She might even consider running away again, further hindering the mission.

I think Nightfall is a good agent as long as she is only with Twilight or without him, even if her methods are trickery and traps, like any spy. But when her love for Twilight is threatened all her judgment disappears.

However:

Already speaking in regards to her feelings:

I think Fiona's complex is the way she interprets and channels her love for Twilight, I don't know if her feelings are really truly pure or if she's just selfishly trying to fill a void inside herself through him. The line that divides adorable and disturbing is a thin one. On the one hand, I want to feel the purity of her feelings, I really feel bad for her when her heart seems to be being squeezed. It's impossible to get mad at her for having these feelings, as it's not her fault. It's fine the way she admires and respects Twilight, but her admiration somehow becomes more of an ideal or a standard, dehumanizing Twilight himself.

To my mind, Nightfall's love is more like the love you have for a trophy or object. It is something that she wants to possess, exclusively for you through merit, she seeks in a thousand and one ways to have the requirements that make you the best of the best, eliminating any competitor or obstacle that stands in her way and therefore, will make you worthy of that prize or in this case, make her worthy of that person (Twilight). This is reinforced in the way she tries to demonstrate her excellent spy skills during the missions.

Nightfall seems to be in love with Twilight, the spy, the man of a thousand faces who can efficiently accomplish each of his missions. Twilight represents an ideal for his agency and for her, completely forgetting that behind that spy there is a man of flesh and bones who also makes mistakes and sometimes does not know how to handle situations. Nightfall generally blames other people for mission mistakes, and considers that no one is worthy of Twilight in any way, and wants to prove that she can be worthy even if it means bursting with exhaustion doing a thousand things or if she has to psychologically assault a girl to be efficient to the needs of the Strix operation.

But she completely ignores the man and Twilight's feelings. To begin with, the Twilight of the beginning, of the first chapter, the one she meets, is not interested in a relationship. In fact, the story itself has not shown that Twilight has serious problems relating sincerely to other people, and her instinct is to take advantage of every situation. Add to that his rugged past and his fear of being hurt. That Nightfall supports and enhances Twilight's cold personality is counterproductive. Far from helping him reconnect with his feelings it only makes that armor of a distant man stronger.

While, she declares that she is willing to "dig up" Twilight's heart and admits to being equally attracted to that soft, sentimental man. The way she wants to force that to happen, and be the one to get that merit falls into selfishness. After all, only Twilight himself can decide whether or not he wants to open his heart, even if he does it unconsciously. Twilight confessing to Yor that he has been lonely all his life, feeling envious of his relationship with Yuri, or confessing about his mother were voluntary acts born from his heart. Yor never forced him or made it her goal to know about him. A mistake Fiona falls into, waiting for Twilight to want to open up to her.

In the end…

I think it's interesting how Nightfall represents an entire antithesis of Yor's character. This is visually noticeable in her color palette, both in her hair and wardrobe; and it is equally reflected in their personalities.

Despite her cold and heartless appearance, she is at heart a tender, sweet woman, thirsty to experience romantic love. Nightfall, unlike her master, is inexpressive but never denies her own feelings, she clearly feels a powerful romantic attraction towards Twilight.

From my point of view it seems to me that Nightfall is actually a very insecure woman, on par with Yor. The difference is that she hides under that cold and ruthless cloak. She strives to prove that she is "worthy", and longs to achieve an ideal of perfection which she projects onto Twilight. She seems to be in love because of what "he represents" hoping, someday, to obtain the love of a (seemingly) ideal man, to prove that she is the only one worthy of achieving it.

Rather than a romance, it seems like a quest to prove something to herself, and she selected Twilight as the trophy. However, I find it impossible to speculate the origin of this complex, since we do not know her past, nor why she became a spy. In fact, it is clearly inferred that Nightfall only seeks peace, to give it to Twilight, and not because she has a true self-motivation that makes her grow as a person.

I think this is one of the fan favorite arcs, and one we are looking forward to when the second part of the anime is released. Likewise Fiona's character is very fun and interesting, and even though it irritates me the way she doesn't respect Yor even as a rival. Still, I think she's a character with potential for future development, and while I hope she continues to give us comedic moments. I also hope to see more growth and evolution in her.

And in the end to know the resolution her feelings will have and how they impact Twiliht and Yor's relationship, especially if the identities are revealed.

SxF ·Mission 38 · · · Is he the final boss?

Context:

After Loid Forger in false search for his daughter's lost keychain, he not only made contact with Damiand Desmond, apologizing for the incident of the past. He manages to get in contact with his target for the first time, Donovan Desmond.

The appearance of Donovan Desmond

I think it goes without saying that Donovan is a mysterious and strange guy, not only because of his strange look, but also because everything in his body language is difficult to interpret. Twilight explains that despite his thorough research he has not found anything relevant enough to create a "profile" of Donovan's personality. However, the objective of the Strix mission is to uncover "the war plans

If Twilight and Yor have a "twinge," it's because something bad is happening with these people.

Interestingly, both Desmonds use the same strategy of "ignoring" in a seemingly polite way, minimizing the fact that their son was beaten. Donovan himself explains that he knew about the fight because his employees informed them, which coincides with Melinda's version. However, both do not seem to want to make a big deal out of the matter, making the apology unnecessary.

Parenthood is… difficult

Is it necessary to describe how sad this page is? The fact that Damiand tries to disguise his pain by saying "it's a foul against the Desmond family name," when his real pain is seeing that his father doesn't care if someone beats him. Without needing to be so explicit, Donovan made it clear that Damiand's integrity is not a priority in the face of his busy political agenda. Clearly, for both Desmonds, continuing to talk about Damiand generates so much discomfort that they get these "inexplicable" expressions of displeasure.

Worst of all, Damiand is paralyzed with fear by the look on his father's face, and decides to swallow his feelings and act as if "it doesn't matter".

It's curious to me, Twilight's serious expression in those panels because his thoughts aren't showing. I know he's obviously sensing how distant Donovan is from his son, but also, I have a feeling he may be feeling uncomfortable watching a father hurt and ignore his own son's feelings.

Perhaps it is too far-fetched to speculate whether this will bring about emotional conflicts in him like those he once had with his own father, influencing their own paternal vision of which I have spoken in the past

It is precisely when Twilight takes the opportunity to confess something that in reality "is true". For him, being a father has not been easy, learning to understand another human being has been a constant process of trial and error. I know he is taking advantage of this moment to extend the conversation with Donovan, but curiously, Twilight did not seek to agree with Desmond and congratulate him on his parenting method as Melinda's friends have done, or as any ordinary civilian would surely do.

It's as if Twilight is looking for a way to debate Donovan's arguments and show that he disagrees, but in such a subtle and polite way, that it feels unnoticeable. Contributing his point of view, when in reality he is demonstrating that Damiand's feelings have validity and that as parents they should be accountable to anything to do with their children., gently placing his hand on Damiand's shoulder

This confession, however, catches Donovan's interest and he ends up expressing, this:

It is impossible to understand strangers

It seems that according to Donovan, even if people have blood affinity or any other intimate bond, they will never be able to understand each other.

Will people ever understand each other?

If anything, I find it interesting how SxF manages to link such different concepts and make it one, how the parent-child relationship can be an analogy of peace and war.

However, Twilight makes a point to Desmond: Sometimes perfect communication between human beings sounds like an impossible ideal, a utopian world where people can express themselves and agree. From this point of view, peace sounds implausible. Making war the only viable option, imposing your ideals, ambitions and beliefs on the world, so that only one way of thinking reigns.

At the same time, Twilight's words demonstrate a very important lesson:

Communication between human beings should not be ideal or perfect, it is a matter of keep trying and never give up. There will be moments of frustration, it will be difficult and we feel that we should give up or just impose ourselves in a rough and violent way. But, striving to build a good relationship is what can lead us to grow and be better.

There may be parents like Donovan or Melinda, who prefer to turn their backs on their children and act as if they did not exist or were so insignificant as to spend their time on them; or parents like the one Twilight had, people who try to give good lessons, but instead of listening and explaining themselves, they prefer to resort to more aggressive methods to impose their point of view, attacking their children's emotions.

But, there will also be parents who try to be better with effort: It's amazing what a good father Twilight becomes, even if he doesn't realize it himself.

He always tries to understand Anya, even if he doesn't succeed. Sometimes he gets consumed with frustration and becomes somewhat harsh with her, but he has never tried to assault or hurt, let alone minimize her emotions. He was willing to almost-punch a professor for making her cry even if the entire mission was in jeopardy.

Obviously, Twilight is not going to pass up this opportunity to alter reality, and make it seem that his interest in Damiand and thus in his family are mere coincidence, and it is partly because of Anya's (false) admiration for Damiand.

Apparently, Donovan's response was positive, enough to "memorize" Loid Forger's name. However, their retreating glances indicate suspicion, it seems that Donovan is just as intrigued by this psychiatrist.

In the end, we can see the Forger's words affecting Damiand, him as a father manifesting his efforts to understand his daughter, and Anya having the courage to confront her father despite not meeting his expectations. Filling Damiand with enough courage to speak to her father. Although Donovan's approval is mediocre, poor Damiand settles for these crumbs of affection.

It's interesting, the way Twilight always wants to act as the spy, the cold and calculating man, the heartless one with no feelings. But, in this chapter he shows a subtle but evident empathy towards Damiand despite having no reason to do so, after all, even though he is the target's son, his priority is to gain Donovan's sympathy. He encourages Damiand, giving him comfort and respect for his feelings, as he gives him one last look before leaving. Although he has not really been close to Damiand, these brief moments made him understand a little of his suffering, and although this can be used for the mission, it shows that deep down, Twilight is that emotional man he has wanted to bury.

My conclusions:

  • I think Donovan's character makes me think quite a bit, since as Twilight said: he seems like someone indecipherable at first glance. His expressionless face, which change to terrifying and laughing expressions in a second.
  • Many people commented after Melinda's appearance, that maybe Donovan was just a puppet, but at the moment it doesn't seem to me to be the case. So far we can't be completely sure if Melinda and her husband are allies, or if they are distant people with their own paths. However, after observing the pinpricks Yor and Twilight had in their respective encounters, they give me to understand that both can be dangerous, capable of activating the fear fibers of a spy and an assassin. So, linked or not, they both strike me as mysterious people.

Does Demond have a past?

  • I wonder if Donovan's words have some tragic background that led him to think this way. Knowing that in Spy x family every character has a truth to protect, maybe some experience led him to believe that people are incapable of communicating and understanding each other, union being a dead end, and war is the only way men have to exist. Those who win the war will have power and dominance, while the weak will be placated. I hope that in the future we will get to know Donovan's true background and he will not turn out to be the typical villain who is evil just because "yes" and there really is a deep and dark reason.
  • If we think of the Desmond family as an opposing force to the Forgers: I mean a family whose composition and values are radically opposite. Whereas Twilight and Yor were victims of war, and were driven to want to build a better world and eliminate all those plagues that turn the lives of innocents into a battlefield and tragedy. But also, it leads them to try to be good parents to Anya even though she is not their biological daughter.
  • We might think that Melinda and Donovan were also victims of the war, but perhaps with a different kind of life and circumstances: perhaps they came from wealthy families who did not suffer the impacts or ravages directly; or perhaps, they suffered in a way that led them to resent the world and want to make it succumb to the war.
  • It would make more sense, when we think about how opposite the Forgers are as parents. They are a fake family that started out of convenience with a foster daughter. But they both try to make Anya's life happy, try to devote their time to her and give importance to her feelings. They learn and recognize when they are failing, and support each other when the other feels discouraged.
  • The opposite of the Desmond couple, who are described as a distant and disinterested family in the suffering of their children, and their relationship as a couple is cold and distant, completely losing interest in each other and the only thing that seems to sustain their relationship is power and status.

So, if the Forger family in an analogy to the search for peace, communication, learning, empathy and support that different people can give each other, building a family. The Desmonds may represent the opposite pole, a family that seeks war, they are distant, cold and without any interest in what happens between them.

  • Personally, my biggest concern is Damiand. Since among all the characters he is the most innocent and the one who has the most to lose. If the Desmond parents are the irredeemable villains whose end is to end up imprisoned or only remains to eliminate them, Damiand will eventually lose them, being left alone or with his brother. Even if someone were to take responsibility for it, the weight on his heart will remain, because he truly loves his parents and longs for their love and attention.
  • This leads me to question whether the Desmonds will be that kind of antagonist who can be vindicated at the end, and change. And with that, wanting to learn to be better parents to Damiand so that this child has some hope for the future. Although it seems an unlikely scenario

SxF · Mission 37 Is he evil boss?

I have been analyzing some chapters of the Spy x Family manga. Since sometimes there are interesting topics to analyze and that are sometimes overlooked. I clarify that everything in this analysis is from my point of view, based on the content of the manga, so it may change or be contradicted in the future. With that said, let's get started.!

Context:

At the beginning of chapter 37, we are introduced to the Eden academy, which will have a meeting with the Imperial academics, so the security protocols are much stricter. It is explained that these meetings are made up of academics and their parents, and are held twice a year. Most of the children who attend this school are represented by parents who are political and financial figures of the nation, being the dome of power in Ostania. The building is surrounded with high security, as a way to protect all these figures

As expected, Twilight, Westalis's top spy is on the scene, disguised as a professor. Analyzing the situation carefully. Twilight tells us that in the past other agents from the west have attempted to infiltrate, but each of these attempts has failed, causing the security of the academy and possibly the SSS itself to become more stringent.

Twilight analyzes the architectural design of the school, coming up with a way to escape. But strangely enough, Eden Academy is a fortress designed to be nearly impenetrable. Which is curious, it is understood that by having so many figures of power, the possibility of an attack in post-war times is possible. However, it is still convenient for the school to be a protective wall for these mysterious meetings to take place.

Now why not kill Donovan Desmond?

This is the second time Twilight has hinted that killing Desmond would be an easier mission. Since there would be many ways to do it without raising so many suspicions, or he could just forcefully barge in and kill him on the spot. But, the Strix mission is made up of entering Desmond's circle and finding out his plans. All this leads me to several concerns.

  • Does WISE know much more than it seems? If Donovan is the only one involved in war plans and it's all a personal plan. Why not just kill him? This nipped in the bud the cause of the possible tragedy that is anticipated. It means that WISE must know or suspect that Donovan is not the main head, he is a token, or in this case, "a connection". Therefore, if they kill him, they would break the only possible link he has to enter this web of evil that is being woven. So WISE has more information that we readers don't know? Does Twilight know this?

Perhaps The Spies know this information but it has not been exposed for the convenience of the plot, and Endo only shows us what he considers appropriate depending on the point where the plot is located. Similar to Melinda, Twilight knew about her, but until now they hadn't considered her a given for not having a way to contact and approach her. Surely they were unaware that she had a "mothers club", since at no time did they consider sending Fiona to join them, until Yor "accidentally" met her. So it is difficult to know how much information WISE has and how much it does not know.

  • But why Donovan? Why not find someone else? If the Desmond family are such hidden figures in society, because their public relations circle is so small, why not consider making contact with an associate of the Desmonds and having them take them with them at some point? - Obviously, Twilight has been in this process, in fact, his cover as a psychiatrist is intended to level up, to get closer to Donovan or people close to he family. But after mission 67.1, we discovered that this has not been easy for him, and he has had many bumps along the way. To begin with, his boss is a hater who doesn't want another doctor to grow up so fast and take away his position (Added to Damiand and Anya's failed friendship).

The fact that Twilight fulfills side missions, having to keep the family cover happy and perfect, but nothing suspicious, added to the fact that his planned attempts to approach the Desmonds have had more failures, and few successes. They show that the Strix mission has many closed roads. As Twilight explains, pretending to be a figure of power is a dangerous cover, and pretending to be the father of an Imperial academic would easily lead to exposure. It leads to Loid Forger being the best mask with which to approach Donovan, but the fact that Loid is an ordinary man, with any life and family, so that no one suspects them, they also prevent him from approaching. Donovan has no reason to approach any man as his fame precedes him.

Demetrius Desmond

Something that is curious is how several times the character of Demetrius has been mentioned in the plot, despite not having an official appearance. While Melinda's character was a total surprise to readers. Is Endo telling us about the character? Can the eldest son of the family have future repercussions?

When Damiand remembers the call he had with his brother, we can notice very important details. Damiand looks nervous, and seems to carefully measure his words, as if trying to sound natural. But, on the other hand, Demetrius sounds distant and somewhat "cut" in the way he responds, as if he doesn't have the time or the interest to communicate with his younger brother. Although we can assume that Damiand is relatively close to his brother, since he has mentioned him on previous occasions and seems to have him in mind, it is not seen that it is a relationship of natural affection. Basically, Damiand looks intimidated by what his brother represents and that is why, although they are closer compared to their parents, their relationship as brothers is not that good either.

Interestingly, Demetrius seems closest to Donovan. While both parents don't seem very interested in their children, Demetrius is able to communicate with his father and deliver a message, which even Damiand can't. So Demetrius works as an intermediary for both parties, and does not seem to have the intention of taking care of his brother's emotions, because he himself emphasizes to him how busy his father is and that he better not delude himself with having even a little time to spend

When we return to the present, I see some parallels with chapter 66.1 see that Damiand's bad attitude, his arrogance, and his cruel words are just ways of draining his frustration with other people. He feels deeply hurt to see that his father and mother do not take him into account at all, becoming non-existent. Adding to the number of people who approach him only because of his last name, not because they really value him as a person. This triggers his cruel and bullying personality at school, when he is clearly a kid drawing attention he doesn't get at home, and takes out his frustration on others.

Agent Twilight and Agent Starlight in action.

I have already commented on it before, I find it funny, but very dangerous the way Anya imitates Twilight. It is as if both, despite their differences, had many similarities, or perhaps Anya is learning very quickly to be like her dad. After all, she is a very cunning girl, and as the chapters progress, Anya's wits are very advanced for her young age. However, I think that Anya is not ready to deal with the consequences yet.

Unlike Twilight Anya does not have advanced analysis and observation skills, she has her telepathy, which becomes much more effective, but with less control. She looks for a way for Sy-on-boy not to give up on seeing her father, because Anya wants to be useful to her dad, getting contact with the target, obtaining peace and with it, making Twilight want to stay with her forever.

And this becomes more sincere when Anya expresses her insecurity. She doesn't really understand Twilight's mind or feelings. And how to blame her? That man cannot understand himself, much less her, especially, reading a mind as complex and emotionally closed as Twilight's, who is always in a constant debate on being a good husband/father, and spy, savior of peace. , etc… and hardly comes out of so many problems unscathed.

Someone explain to Becky that she is 6 years old and that they cannot get married
We have all been Anya, sleeping in the best moment of the movie

I find it great that the detail of the sheep keychain is not only a filler chapter, or a Becky and Anya chapter, but that it manages to have a role in the plot.

Later on, Twilight manages to meet up with Damiand with an armed excuse of "my daughter's keychain is lost".

Somebody give this guy the Oscar!!

What a dramatic performance Twilight, but I guess if you wanted to get noticed, you got it. The father cover "I can't admit disgrace like that" is perfect for you.

This is Twilight, spy. He found his target!

In retrospect:

Perhaps it's too early to talk about Demetrius when he hasn't made his true appearance, and it's hard to tell if his relationship is as distant with his parents as Damiand is. So I'm going to speculate with this theory:

  • I'm beginning to believe that one of the reasons Damiand is so ignored is because he doesn't serve any function in the Desmond family. If we think about it for a moment, Demetrius already fulfills the social role that the Desmonds need: The perfect son, imperial academician, outstanding grades, etc. He is the first son and he is the eldest, so no matter what Damiand excels in Eden, he will always be the second son, whatever Demetrius does, surely he did first. Which could be one of the many reasons Donovan and Melinda don't see the point in paying attention to him
  • Keep in mind that Demetrius can contact Donovan and give him a direct message, which Damiand cannot. So he may be the closest thing to a favorite son, or at least get some attention from his father.
  • If, in a hypothetical case, Donovan wanted to instruct one of his sons to follow in his footsteps, it would surely be Demetrius because he is the oldest and has a considerable age difference with his brother.
  • Perhaps approaching Demetrius would be more efficient for the Strix mission other than Melinda, however we don't know which of the Forgers will introduce this character to us or how he will ultimately appear. Will Bond meet Demetrius and Max?

Now, I think I speak for the entire fandom when I say that "modern parenting techniques" is just a fallacy to cover up that they obviously don't care what happens to their children, at least with Damiand. So why have children? I think the most logical answer is because society, and the values that the conservative parties defend, the family nucleus for what they wanted or not the Desmonds should have children.

But why have two?

I apologize if this sounds extremely cruel, for poor Damiand. But his parents make me believe that deep down they didn't want to have him. Maybe this isn't personal, and they just don't relate to parenting, but they was forced by social issues.

Could it be that Damiand was not a planned child? Or maybe it was, but it was conceived for a superficial purpose? Many people have the ridiculous idea that "the more children a family has, the happier it is." So it would not surprise me if the Desmonds, being a family so mysterious and hidden from society, but depending so much on their social and political image, decided to have two children to create the illusion that they are a "conventional and happy family" . But behind the curtain, they are actually neglectful parents with little empathy and genuine appreciation.

Moving on to another point:

  • I think Eden Academy may be harboring more mystery, and may be included in all this corruption and war plans. Functioning as a secret meeting venue. I am sure that professors like Henderson are innocent and unaware of everything that may be happening under their feet. While these parents and other power figures in the school are party to ambitious plans.
  • I think Donovan is not alone, and surely there are other villains along with him. Although, it is difficult to say if Donovan is the main leader or is just one of many allies in a secret organization that we still do not know. So it may be that he is working for others or with other subjects who support the radical front of Ostania against Westalis.
  • Can WISE/Twilight/Sylvia show more information to the viewer in the future? It seems to me that these spies have not told us everything they know and we may discover more relevant information behind this mysterious conflict.
I have been very busy this week and it took me a long time to do this analysis and the others I have pending ( ˘︹˘ ). I hope to catch up again. Still, I hope you enjoy this (ɔ◔‿◔)ɔ ♥

This is an analysis in two parts, of chapter 37 and 38. And it was a request from my friend @shiro-s2e2-erukinzu Thank you for this request, I hope you like it!! I am open to any suggestion you have if you want me to analyze something chapter of the manga!

SxF Theories #2 · · · Shadow Government

Since the last chapters have been so explosive I think it's time to talk a little about the secret government I clarified that this theory is made from my point of view, and I am completely based on the Spy x Family manga that is currently on the air, so in the future all this may be contradicted or changed on the fly. With that said, let's get started.

Context:

Although, from the beginning of the manga it is repeatedly explained to us that Yor is a hitwoman who is specifically hired by Shopkeeper, who assigns "specific clients" to whom she must "serve". But it is not until mission 44, when we have more precise information. Although, Garden is still a mystery, I will try to string together the elements that caught my attention throughout the manga to arrive at this theory:

According to what was said in Twilight and Franky's conversation in this same chapter: Garden is an organization of assassins that is in charge of "purging" those who are considered "traitors of the fatherland" in Ostania, and who work directly for the government of the shadows:

Shadow governments (also known as invisible governments or secret governments) is a belief that is part of the field of conspiracy theories and is based on the notion that the real and true political power does not lie in the political representatives elected by the population (Definition I found on the internet)

Having all this context we can move on to chapter 44. After having the physical appearance of Shopkeeper, a man whose appearance is of a "gardener" who meticulously takes care of his garden who is about to assign Yor, his best assassin, the mission to protect Olka Gretcher and her youngest son.

Here, Shopkeeper gives us very little but very, very important information:

Olka is the only survivor of the family because her father, the head of the family, her two brothers and her husband were killed. This was the Family that managed the underworld for years honorably (from Shopkeeper's perspective). She and her baby are the last survivors

Shopkeeper, explains that the man, the current leader who seized control of the underworld (The man with glasses and a lock of hair) and is responsible for this division. Now he is after the Olka head and that is why he hired assassins from inside and outside of Ostania. Which implies that there is a third country at stake and that some murderers may come from this same country. Shopkeeper explains to Yor that he had a close relationship with Mr. Gretcher and because of them he feels the need to protect Olka.

I think the most important thing to note is that very possibly the shadow government is made up of the figures that control the black market, organized crime, arms trafficking, etc. Its jurisdiction covers everything that represents the crime of the shadows that is hidden from the outside world. Basically, criminals who never want to come out into the open or be openly wanted by the police. Ghosts of society.

In contrast to the SSS, who is directly related to public figures, politicians and attack threats that are made known to the entire society: like spies, who are openly wanted and denounced by civilians at the slightest suspicion. For this reason, the Garden agents themselves fear being caught by the police since it would expose their identity, that of the organization and of course they would make known the world that exists covered by darkness.

Possibly many figures of power are related to these movements under the table. But, the difference is that this should never come to light, and thus maintain a complete image in society, whether involved in crime, trafficking or secret experiments (similar to those that gave rise to Anya and Bond)

…Is that the name of the scientist with glasses?

I don't know if you have noticed, since I see that very few people have talked about this… but… during the trip on the Cruise we were mentioned three times the name (either a code name or real name) of "Hapoon", referring to the one who is leading all those assassins and who is the one who hired the terrorist they were looking for Olka. In fact, the latter mentions that "Hapoon would be very pleased with the idea that the bombs looked like a Westalis attack to frame this country"

I believe that:

There is only one way for crime to coexist in a functional way and that is through "Rules"

Olka refers to her life of her family as that of gangster and the dangerous life they had to live, until eventually her husband and his entire family were killed, leaving her alone with her baby and the desire for a quiet life. This means that crime works through hierarchy: If the Gretcher family were the ones who were at the head of all these ramifications of groups, or they could be associated with other families and organizations, being high-caliber mobsters, and they were the ones who prevented these they will eventually fall into chaos over each other's personal ambitions.

These being one of the main threats that the groups that wish to revive the war between Westalis and Ostania had to overthrow in order to assume command and fill themselves with fortune. What the man with glasses (or Hapoon) did, and wanting to eradicate all traces of the Gretcher family to prevent them from trying to regain control.

This division evidently arose from each side's perspective on the war. Based on a division of interest of those who want to enrich themselves and fill themselves with power causing the resurgence of a warlike conflict between East and West; and those, whose financial interests are ruined by the collateral effects of war and because they may understand the seriousness and tragedy that it brings to the lives of many innocents (Garden seems to belong to the latter). This makes more sense when we remember the words of Mr. Grey, who reminds Olka that her family, who ran the black market, were feeding him and helping him survive during the war. For this reason he lives grateful to the old boss and wants to thank him by saving Olka.

Whether this is a recruitment strategy (offering them a chance at survival in exchange for working for them) or because they want to give genuine help to innocent people, they are clearly not in favor of more battles.

It may be that for all these reasons it is that Tendero refers to the Gretcher administration as "honorable", it was because they exercise sufficient control so that crime does not disturb the lives of normal civilians on a large scale, at least to the point of not reactivating a second war. For this reason, Mr. Gray refers to the opposing side as extremists, pro-war who directly enrich themselves from arms trafficking. Position that Director Mcmahon himself explains, who sees with contempt these other assassins who are negotiating with the integrity of all of Ostania as a simple business.

My possible theories:

  • I believe that at the current point in history, Garden is a consolidated, solid, and independent organization that runs its own agents: Despite this war in the underworld, assassins like Yor and Mcmahon continue to work regularly. It may be that in the past, during the years of war, the highest rulers were part of the foundation of this organization of murderers, or collaborated so that those who "control, regulate, and purge" internal crime, preserving this order, existed. In short, it is fighting fire against fire. Purging criminals who go beyond the rules and endanger the stability of Ostania. Which makes Garden's assassins military, (guardians) with their own ideology based on protecting the country and not a specific figure. Crime can exist as long as it does not interfere with the war and with their secret identities.
  • That scientist (whose name may be Hapoon) may come from another country, and this allied with some sector of Ostania (A radical sector that wants to destroy Westalis)
  • According to Anya and Bond's memoirs, they were both a by-product of their experiments.
  • So maybe the apple project was to produce "soldiers" or "animals with incredible abilities" that would serve in battle.
  • It may be that these projects lost funding, and I seek to obtain the power of the shadow government and the arms trade, in order to resume these experiments.
  • If Anya was an "accidental" experiment, it implies that it wasn't on purpose. But why did they have Anya? Did her parents belong to the project? Did they kidnap children to test them?
  • Could Anya come from that third country just like that Hapoon scientist? Is that the reason why Anya has knowledge of another ancient language? Or will it be an Ostanina girl and did she learn that language from the environment where she grew up as Twilight supposed?
  • Bond was considered an experiment that failed. Possibly, as his power is "imperfect precognition", that is, seeing the future. Scientists couldn't know because they couldn't see the mind of a dog. That's why they sold it on the black market, until they reached the terrorists Which makes sense, since Happon now runs crime.
  • That is why Anya is the only one who realized that Bond has powers for being able to read minds, even of animals.

Is there a connection to Donovan Desmond?

  • Remembering that Handler mentioned in mission 17, that there have been suspicious financial transactions around Desmond.
  • Precisely, in mission 28. George's family has a pharmaceutical company that is adsorbed by the Desmonds
  • Many of Donovan's allies may not know what they're up to. Since being advocated by Desmond, they get lesser charges but at least they make a profit to maintain their status.
  • Although surely he also has allies from this war

It makes me believe that Donovan's function has been to adsorb other companies that function as partners and financiers. Strengthening, not only the unitary party, but also being able to obtain resources for possible secret projects. And many of these power figures may be associated with Eden Academy based on their sons being Imperial scholars.

But what are these projects? Perhaps Donovan and Melinda could be associated and belong to the secret government, and with them, be allied with the scientist, Hapoon to resume the experiments and create acts of terrorism to incite both countries. Perhaps this organization can be represented by the symbol of the triangle with an eye? The jewelry that Melinda wears on her outfit

If so, maybe behind the war there is a whole association of various sectors that seek to control both government figures: The outside and inside.

This would make sense of all the moves that Donovan has had under the curtain, the reason why they are a family so closed to the rest of the world, but which in turn, create the fame of saving so many companies.

The antagonistic nucleus

If we think about it for a moment, if there is a connection between the radical division of the shadow government and the Desmonds (Either, just with Donovan, or Melinda, or both) having Hapoon as an ally, we are gathering the enemies/antagonists of the Forgers.

Having the Desmonds (Donovan and Melinda) as the enemies of WISE, therefore Twilight; The radical government sector of the secret: including criminals, murderers, and terrorists as enemies of the garden, of the shopkeeper, and therefore of Yor/Thorn Princess; and to the scientists, Hapoon as the creator of Anya and Bond, whose powers are key elements in an information war (Predict the future and read the mind of the enemy)

Leaving the SSS, the secret police in the middle of this battle. Which side are they on? (According to Endo) very few members know that Garden exists. So, it may be that most of the police officers arrest the spies, informants and they do not know everything that they hide in the background. So surely the SSS supports the governments that are exposed to society… But, will they also support the rulers of the underworld even though they know very little about their existence?

Although each of these elements is dispersed. There have already been little connections and implications, which give us the idea that something very dark is going on and that there is not just one person wishing the war to happen or not. So it wouldn't surprise me if the Forgers, as a family, represent the search for peace. The Desmonds (except Damiand) represent the search for war. Having in all this, a third card (The experiments) playing in the shadows

I love stories, so as a reader (but also as a writer), I'm very curious about the character arc for the main characters in Spy x family. Some are easier to see than others, for example, Yor's arc seems to be self-confidence and (mentally) becoming an adult woman. Anya, I have no clue 🤷‍♀️ But the one that intrigues me the most is Twilight's. I think by the end of the story, Twilight shouldn't be able (or even want to) lie. A person who lies does it to control the situation and that's the kind of person Twilight is right now: a total control freak. So at the end of his character's arc, completely transformed by the love of his family, I would like to see that, instead of being an anxious, paranoid, fearful liar, he is an honest man, who knows he can't control everything, but trusts things will turn out okay either way. (And of course, who is totally in love with his wife and is a loving dad too.)

It's hard to say, but perhaps Anya's arc is related to her admiration, to her acceptance of herself, and reliance on her powers.

  • On the one hand, Anya has a strong fear of abandonment. This prompts her to strategize with her powers to manipulate the situation. This is usually fun, and it's to help their parents. But also, there are negative effects. She may eventually have to strengthen this part of herself, believe in it and not consider herself a freak just because she is different. Her powers, far from making her rare, make her special and on many occasions a heroine.
  • This brings me to the second point. Anya's admiration. It's nice that Anya admires her family, and in the midst of the darkness between spies and assassins. Anya sees that her parents are amazing and good people. But imitating every behavior of her parents, especially Twilight is not always good. This is seen in the way Anya tries to imitate her father to get closer to Damiand. Yes, it is understandable that Anya does it for her family, and for "world peace", but that does not imply that she left harm to other people, innocent people, like Damiand. That he can be a hateful boy, but in the end he is innocent and can end up being accidentally manipulated by Anya (Considering that he is in love with her, it can be more painful) Twilight has accepted the damage done to his by many (guilty and innocent) people and has dealt with it in an effort to keep the peace. But can Anya deal with something like this?
  • Anya relies heavily on her powers to bond with other people. Perhaps one day she must learn to control her powers without transgressing limits such as privacy, and learn to relate to others without them. Similar to when she take an exam without reading minds

It's hard to know which way Endo will go with Anya, since she's a little girl. And while we all anticipate that their parents will have to hit the truth sometime, discovering the identity of their fake partner. Anya, on the other hand, already knows everything, but we don't know how she can deal with it when the lies fall apart.

I read an interesting theory that if Anya lost her powers, she could be a normal girl. Which is basically what she's always wanted, though she may keep her powers and use them more responsibly.

Whatever the result, it's very interesting to think about it

Spy x Family #67.1 · Side effects

· · Alert: This contains spoiler · ·

This review is quite long, so prepare for a lot of text xD

Today's chapter was quite daily, funny moments and with a rather dramatic and surprising twist. So, I will begin by giving my opinion and future impressions on the route that Loid Forger/Twilight's life is taking

Anya is growing, but problems too:

Lately I see Endo striving to make Anya's facial expressions more mature. Gone from being more ingenious and taking advantage of the circumstances around them. Agent Starlight Anya is becoming aware of the world around her and in favor of the Mission (as her dad would say) is playing her own cards. Although at first he perceived his mom's encounter with Sy-on Boy's mom as something negative, it turned the issue around:

Obviously, Anya still retains her nature, unpredictable, adventurous and adorable. But now she understands more the world around her and seeks how to support her dad by longing for the family she has to be preserved

I'm glad to see another side of Damiand. He may be the son of one of the greatest political figures in his country, he may be hateful and conflicted, but deep down he is a vulnerable child like everyone, with his funny moments and full of clumsiness, embarrassing and funny memories… just like anyone else.

Anya also likes gossip!

I know many people don't like Damiand for being an annoying and capricious child. But they forget it's just a child drawing attention, something he doesn't have from his own parents.

But… but… but.

Everything has consequences

There's one side of the coin Anya's not seeing. We could say Anya is following "the spy's path," just like her dad, Twilight. But she ignores, the collateral damage left by spies.

Twilight has had to manipulate and use many people (some criminals, some innocent) to reach his goals. Leaving damage to those people he has manipulated (as couples he has fallen in love with and abandoned for another moment) We understand that he is a spy, that is what his work is about, using unscrupulous methods.

But Anya and Damiand are children…

Damiand is a victim of all the unfavorable circumstances of his life. Having parents who do not give him the slightest show of affection and attention he needs, living under the shadow of the name Desmond and receiving the crumbs of attention he receives for flattery that superficial people give him. The only ones he has are his friends He knows that all of his classmates and everything he gets is due to the stance his parents have in society, and he is very clear, that people approach him with double intentions and not because they are really genuine people.

Hence his enormous disappointment with Anya

The reason he feels that attraction to her is because Anya was perhaps the first child to face him. She didn't care who he was, his status or his last name. About to hit him in the face on the first day. She treated him like one more child.

(Anya defended herself from him, although she knows he's on a mission) But for Damiand, Anya was someone who treated him differently.

Damiand likes how authentic Anya is. She is clumsy, naive, distracted, makes moves of a shonen (XD) and wants to approach him (for the mission), while he was falling in love. But realizing that she wants to be around him for his parents represents that he is "just interested" and she is just… one of so many people who's just using it.

It is sad to think that in the future, whether Donovan or Melinda, or both fall for justice and their war plans are real. Damiand's the one who's going to suffer the most. And somehow, Anya is contributing to this.

I know Anya does all this to get the love of her parents, she has suffered a lot, and wants to preserve what little she has managed to get. But that doesn't take away the risk of her accidentally hurting Damiand for the mission. And even though they have a complicated relationship, and they're still kids… she has perceived that Damiand is someone with real and vulnerable feelings

If Anya and Twilight will have to learn about the side effects of these lies "for their mission" they have. Just as lies exist to preserve peace, lies also hurt many innocent people. Is it worth ruining someone's life for a greater good? Maybe if, or maybe not… It's the dark side of a spy's life.

Past with Twilight:

We saw another facet of labor envy. While Yor, who is an unsociable person is mistreated by Camila and her friends, Loid is the opposite

Someone sociable, kind, loved by all, popular with women and friend of all men. Generating hatred for a resentful man who detests that another person is overcome by having better dowries, and because he is in love with Fiona.

It's great to see another facet of Loid's character. Who in his desire to scale in his work, has built positive relationships in his work to quash suspicions, and in particular, rise from hierarchy. So Loid spends considerable time in the hospital when he's not a spy. It seems confirmed that Loid/Twilight spends considerable time with Fiona/Nightfall every day when they work (This woman counts the seconds she talks to him xDD)

The plan regarding Melinda

I see that as expected Fiona will once again demerit Yor. And well, Twilight just ignores this because really undermining on that subject with her is not like it makes a lot of sense. After all, he is blind to the love nightfall has for him, assuming it is lack of control and desire to excel as a spy. In addition she will always look for a way to demerit/insult Yor to look for a little bend and see if it causes divorce from them. Although Yor almost annihilated her last time

As expected, Twilight is generating a backup plan now that it has a connection with Melinda, but there are points to note:

I understand that from Twilight's perspective it may sound like a good idea…. but… I think he's ignoring the flaws in this same plan: Yor is not a spy, so she doesn't know she's on a mission. So she's not with Melinda to figure out war plans. That's why he thinks infiltrating Fiona is a good idea…. But, there are details that seem to me to be risky:

  1. The Fiona and Yoru relationship: You don't have to be a genius to know that they don't get along. Yoru is kind but insecure, and Fiona's presence can devastate her, especially in the same environment. Obviously, Fiona doesn't have the slightest chance to be friends with Yor, let alone change her mind, both of which are seen as a threat. Therefore, Fiona will look to make Yor feel bad all the time, she messes with Yor even in front of Loid, being alone is much worse. And Yoru may feel depressed, and jealous to see Loid spend time with her and try and include her more (for the mission)
  2. Assuming Fiona uses a new identity, one that Yoru completely ignores. Even as she tries to sabotage Yor, Nightfall has no self-control when it comes to "competing" for Twilight. And acting with another identity along with Melinda and her friends, she'll try to compete with Yor. Sabotaging the mission and sabotaging Yoru. I know Yoru is perfectly capable of taking care of herself, but she is emotionally very sensitive. She is clearly affected when someone shows up and tries to make her feel insecure, Yoru still doesn't do well with the idea of being friends with Melinda, now that her rival (or officer) gets in the way, complicates the whole thing
  3. Melinda doesn't accept anyone in her group. It was made clear that she never let anyone join her group. All her old friends are from before she was "the first lady." The Yor thing was something special, and although Nightfall is very athletic to be included in a sports game…. I don't know if she reacts like that with anyone… In fact, I think Melinda's interest in Yor is for "something special…" (Whether you have a hidden reason or not)
  4. I know Twilight doesn't know, but… Melinda looks like she's an intelligent woman. And I think she can easily suspect. And if Nightfall approaches, it can trigger all alarms. Besides, Melinda's not the kind of person to "tell everything about her." In fact, the look he gave Yor for the children's issue is very strange.

I don't know if I'm letting myself be blinded by my personal taste, since I love Yoru. But, I think Endo plays with ironies, the more they force themselves to discover the Desmond the more the gap closes. I think Yor, without being a spy, can go a lot further with Melinda than she can get to do Nightfall/Fiona. Although, we will have to wait if in the future this plan is realized or not

Regarding Fiona…

I haven't done a Nightfall analysis (Do you think I should?) But, her feelings for Twilight cause me… a conflict.

On the one hand I don't feel bad about the character, in fact, I don't blame her for being in love with him. No one can control and decide who falls in love or not…. But the way she "demonstrates her love," far from making her grow as a person… makes her look more selfish and exploited… I understand she's used to using tricks to get what she wants (She's a spy) But… sometimes it manages to be painful.

I know that she is good at her job (most of the time), and I see that they have a good relationship as colleagues. Twilight respects and appreciates her, like every teacher who had a pupil, plus they spend time together and help him on his deck as a psychiatrist.

But most of the time, I feel "sorry for Fiona" and her feelings. And I'll make a personal confession: "I don't like feeling sorry for a character." I like to empathize with them, watch them fall and learn in the process.

But feeling sorry for characters trapped in love triangles, and especially when that relationship has no future, it makes me sad. I feel bad for her every time she feels genuinely bad because Twilight is so blind… but at the same time, I get a little irritation from his insistence (≖_≖ )

[I think like Yoru, it also makes me a little jealous to see her with Twilight. I know he has no romantic interest in Fiona, he sees her as a colleague and companion. But seeing Twilight be so, but so blind, caught up in his denial for accepting his family becomes so frustrating. Especially when these two women melt for him, in front of his own face and he just doesn't find out) (Yoru is not only inexperienced, she feels threatened because she doesn't know what "place" she occupies in Loid (Twilight) She only believes that he appreciates her because she agreed to be a "wife, fake mother." While Fiona is living off a frustrating fantasy, yearned for approval and romantic love she may never get
Sometimes I wish that like the Bond-Man chapter, they all come together as a team and that Twilight gets a good punch in the face, if he stops being blind!!] (ง︡'-'︠)ง (`▿´) 👊

....Sorry, I'm getting off the subject

… I return to the chapter ☜(ˆ▿ˆc)

I love seeing Twilight in his plan to "Make Loid Forger look like a fool." But divine justice makes being a fool, shameful people alike worship him xDDD

Well, envious sir, I showed up out of nowhere. The world is not fair and kind and attractive subjects end up winning. xDDDD Even Loid can't make himself look bad so… your much less!!!

…. Now, let's talk about what's important…

I guess I'm not the only one who fell, got back up and fell back when I saw this last panel, right?

  • First the shopkeeper... and not now the SSS? Twilight is ignoring a lot of things around him (that he doesn't have to know about) Before Fiona warned him, Twilight didn't realize that this guy was hating him... Which is weird, because he usually picks up on hateful looks, and suspicious towards him... Perhaps if he is letting his guard down a bit? Although... well, it's impossible to control everything

What could happen in the future?

I've heard many talk about Yuri showing up and I'll say I agree 100%. It seems likely to me that Yuri finds out about this:

  • Yuri sees that he is recognized within the SSS for his work hunting down spies and traitors of the country, he has gained recognition very quickly and the appreciation of his bosses.
  • It is obvious that if Yuri finds out that someone suspects that Loid is a spy, this man is going to go crazy. It's the perfect opportunity to find a divorce pretext for his sister
  • However, there are no clues and Yuri does not work alone. His closest colleague from the SSS always calls him to calm down and look for evidence. As we have seen in extra chapters about Yuri, they will very surely place microphones, and they will intervene the entire hospital to be able to detect Loid if he does something strange.
  • Obviously Fiona and Twilight will surely realize they're being watched. So their work as spies will surely be hampered to the extreme having to act totally normal.
  • Are Yuri and Fiona going to meet? It is very probable. In fact, it would make sense. We are getting closer to the crazy, obsessive and highly unstable of this series.... this is literally a bomb xD
  • Assuming that Twilight realizes that the SSS, especially Yuri, is watching him like a predator to prey, he will surely have to warn Fiona and if he tells her that he is her brother-in-law (Yor's brother). This woman, in her eagerness to win Twilight's heart and keep Yor Briar away, I think she was looking for a way to protect her identity and keep him from suspicion. Will she directly approach the policeman acting as a simple secretary? Will Yuri approach to inquire into Loid's life?
  • If Yuri finds out that Fiona hates her sister? Fiona realizes that Yuri hates loid... this is going to get highly explosive... I see those two crazy people in an action battle

Twilight's water is reaching his neck. And I see a lot of Forger side effects happening around him

These episodes are being WAKU WAKU!!!

SxF Theories #1 Garden urban legends

· · · This contains manga content· · ·

Given that the last chapters have given us something to talk about, I think it is a good time to make a theory about the garden, making a compilation of the manga chapters and trying to string together the clues that we have been given based solely on the manga. I clarify that all this is from my point of view and that being a manga in broadcast, all this can be contradicted or change. With all that said, let's get started:

Context:

Although, since the beginning of the manga, it is repeatedly explained to us that Yor is a hitwoman, who is specifically hired by a mysterious subject called Shopkeeper, who assigns "specific clients" to whom she must "attend". But it is not until mission 43, when we have more precise information. Although, Garden is still a mystery, I will try to string together the elements that caught my attention throughout the manga to arrive at this theory:

According to what was said in Twilight and Franky's conversation in this same chapter: Garden is an organization of assassins that is in charge of "purging" those who are considered "traitors of the fatherland" in Ostania, and who work directly for the government of the shadows.

Of which Twilight (and WISE itself) has very little information, considering that organization and its actions as "simple urban myths". Data that Endo himself corroborated, stating that very few know of their existence, even very few members of the SSS know that they exist. So it is very possible that Yuri is also unaware that these exist or has very little information about them due to his age and rank.

After Franky confirms that Garden exists and that they are surely responsible for the death of an informant. Twilight lists them as "an unofficial paramilitary organization".

The secret paramilitary associations are organizations made up of different military bodies and their ideology is reactionary.

With all this context, we can start to speculate a bit:

How does Garden work?

There is currently little information, and canonically we only know of three killers (Yor Forger, Matthew McMahon and Shopkeeper) so I actually have more questions and few answers. But speculating a bit and based on what we have seen, it is implied that Gardin works under a hierarchy. Having Shopkeeper as the main boss, who assigns the clients that must be served and possibly is the one who trains the assassins. Since it is implied that he was the one who surely trained Yor directly.

Then we have McMahon, whose cover is to be the director of city hall policy where he works alongside Yor. During the cruise arc, it is revealed to us that McMahon works alongside Yor at the same city hall. Which surprised me, because it indicates that there may be more murderers working and fulfilling functions.

So… there are more murderers in the city hall? Or are McMahon and Yor the only ones assigned to this area?…Perhaps all of the Garden killers have jobs as civil servants?

I'm curious if anything, Garden, much like WISE, works with a network of undercover agents, running a civilian front. With the spies we have seen all kinds of people, who establish a secret communication with Twilight: From a saleswoman in a kiosk in a subway to a pet store run by WISE. Twilight, unlike Yor, has interacted with other spies in brief encounters, and it is implied that they assign spies to Berlint's Hospital to help with this alibi, plus we met Nightfall.

Do Garden Killers work similarly? Or do they handle a strict law of not getting involved? If that's the case, then possibly Yor isn't allowed to interact with many colleagues and only deals directly with the director when necessary… or maybe Endo has deliberately left this out to give it more relevance and explanation in the future.

Continuing with the Arch in the transept. Shopkeeper refers to McMahon as Yor's "manager" …. Which caused me other doubts:

Does every killer have a manager? Does McMahon Manage Other Assassins? Or is this something exclusive to Yor?

If McMahon has the function of being an intermediary, or someone who manages the details of Yor's work, tying up loose ends and fixing everything so that it does not look suspicious that a city council woman attends exclusive events like the Princess Lorelei cruise. So Yor only has communication with him, which would explain why both assassins seem openly close and know each other quite well. In fact, throughout this Arc it seems that it is not the first time that they have worked together. The director seemed aware of Yor's ability and strength, and he never doubted that she could handle the job, but he also knew how distracted she can be… furthermore, he wanted to reward her by allowing her to be with her family, although there was the possibility that there were more killers. And Yor showed absolute respect and confidence in the professionalism and ability of Dr.

I loved these panels 🔪

It is possible that McMahon and Yor are the assassins with the highest level of Garden, or at least, they part of this elite knowing that they were the only ones sent by Garden to fight a whole wave of assassins. Knowing that Shopkeeper was aware that the bounty on Olka was huge and that the call was so widespread to the point of having foreign assassins, and that the whole decision of which Yor and McMahon were the only ones, and did not send others to support them. Which became evident, Yor is practically invulnerable, and although she received fatal injuries she could survive and only get out with a slight sprain in a finger…. If it wasn't because Yor was so distracted with her internal conflict maybe she could get out a lot best of these battles.

Do you think Shopkeeper taught Yoru how to fight? and McMahon how to clean up the crime scene? … Or is everyone in Garden an expert in cleaning? That man fights with a gun and a mop at the same time xD

Something that Dr. McMahon explains is the perspective he has on the war and current events. Although the war officially ended ten years ago, the battles continue inside and outside the countries, and as long as people remain the same, they, the soldiers of Garden, will continue to fight to protect their country. In fact, the enemy hit man quickly assumed that McMahon has the mentality of a veteran soldier. It would not be surprising if many of the assassins were ex-soldiers from the Ostanian ranks.

Moving on to the civilian identities…

It caused me concern if Garden itself will be in charge of assigning Yor's decks or if this is something that is left to her as long as she asks the Shopkeeper for permission?

Let's remember that Yor in the past used the cover of being a "masseur" to be an assassin, even later working at the town hall…. But why this change? Was her identity at risk or was this cover somewhat risky? On the one hand, being a masseuse is for many a euphemism to refer to working with "the body". Which, was what Camila inferred during the party. However, beyond being a lie, I don't know if Yor could really be a simple masseuse. Yor is somewhat clumsy and very nervous when it comes to physical contact and her inexperience in relationships makes her turn into a whirlwind at the slightest touch. Adding to a huge force that sometimes she does not control… Would she break more than one back? xD

All of this intrigues me, given the idea that Garden controls the facades of their killers. McMahon reminded Yor that if she were to die in combat or be seriously injured, Yor would be forced to separate from her family and Loid would be told that she would be transferred elsewhere, disappearing from the Forger family for good without further explanation.

Was this the reason why Yor stopped being a masseur in the past? Did Yor have many fake jobs up to the present depending on the convenience of her real job? —I don't think Yor has gone through as many professions as Twilight, who has a wide experience and ability to adapt—. However, assuming she had one or more professions for her cover, maybe being a masseuse was unbelievable and they would prefer to assign Yor to the town hall, up to the present… or maybe her identity was briefly at risk.

Going to the commissions….

In the bonus chapter of Yor and Loid's date. They say in the news that Twilight watches, that a group of terrorists called the "red circus" that were "financed in part by foreign interests", which defines the concept well of traitors to the country. Since they can be groups of Ostanian criminals who, by receiving income from abroad, caused terrorist acts in their own country…

or the informant that Franky mentioned, whom he assured was Garden (surely this was done by another murderer) Possibly, the informants trade information that is not allowed and therefore, the murderers are also assigned to kill them, in addition to the police.

All that said…

Though we don't explicitly know the inner workings of Garden yet, and we don't know what the Shopkeeper's genuine intentions are beyond making the world a better place. We can say that these organizations of assassins work under a clear ideology and a rigid obedience system, where the important thing is not to question whether what they are doing is correct or not, but to believe that what they are doing is to purge the world of so much dirt and maintain crime up to certain limits, classified as "traitors". And although it sounds like a very pure ideal, it sounds questionable given that they are hit men, we don't know Tendero's background.

Seen this way, Yor becomes the perfect assassin by having an innate talent for fighting, martial arts and superhuman strength and endurance. But that being raised by them, and being a vulnerable girl with a younger brother to raise, she has become dependent on the orders she receives. Yor was not trained to question the world around her (unlike WISE that forces agents to question everything) her goal is to eliminate whoever is ordered and hinders the purposes.

It is clear that although Yor is seen as naive and clumsy, her sense of morality is seen to be quite complex. Although, many believe that Yor does not feel remorse, and that he should not hide his face because he should not feel "ashamed" of what he does (Although I think this is more of a weak argument. And surely the assassins show their faces to force them not to leave victims).

I don't think that's entirely true… Yor herself has been hesitant about her work, and has even admitted in the early chapters to being overwhelmed by it at times, but remembering that she has a noble purpose to protect someone (her family) It is what has kept it going.

However, it is inevitable that being an assassin has caused her to develop a cold and ruthless side of her personality that she has struggled to channel and control. Yor is someone deep down, powerful, determined and focused on her goals, and she is aware of her own abilities, to the extent that she merely considers killing innocent people who get in her way and who she cares about. But she herself refuses to do such a thing. So Yor, deep down, is aware that much of what she does is wrong and she should not abuse her strength. So her morality is subject to the defenseless/innocent and those who decide to wield a weapon, becoming dangerous.

Maybe in the future, we can see Yor grow much more, and he can channel that "inner security and determination". And she can get rid of the control that Shopkeeper has over her.

It's very possible that if Donovan, Melinda, or the guy with glasses (Happon), or whoever is behind the war. Very surely they will enter the black list of these murderers.

But many secrets may begin to be revealed now that Loid Forger may pass into the eye of the storm after the Shopkeeper begins to suspect him…. So the theory that other Garden killers are revealed seems very possible. And with it, knowing more about the relationship that Yor manages with other colleagues.

However, I think obviously Garden are not necessarily villains of the story. And there is still the possibility that they could become an ally of WISE if their purpose is really to make a better world without war.

Spy x Family x Chairs Vol. 4 - 5 -6

Previously, I did an analysis of the covers of the SxF Vol 1,2 and 3 manga volumes. I saw that it had a great reception, and that motivated me to continue analyzing these particular chairs and the possible background. I hope you like it! :D

Context:

Due to the wars and the multiple consequences, many architects who went through these times of change, sought new alternatives from labor sources, leaning towards the industrial area and furniture design, in this specific case, chairs. As a way to exhibit pieces of art, architecture that were part of the everyday life of the citizen. Although each architect has its own history, and each chair has its own concept. Interestingly, in SxF the consequences of war is a fundamental element governing history, and the covers were no exception. Each chair not only represents a comfortable seat for the character, it reflects aspects of his personality, of the time with a very interesting background story. So I come to give you my little analysis and opinion about it.

SxF Vol 4 · Bond Forger - Ball Chair by Eero Aarnio

The Ball Chair was designed by Eero Aarnio in 1963. The Ball Chair is also known as the globe chair and is famous for its unconventional shape. It is considered a classic of industrial design.

The Ball Chair is not a simple piece of furniture, it is conceived more as an architectural piece than as a chair. The chair was presented in 1966 at the International Furniture Show in Cologne with great success, becoming part of the favourite retro chairs of the public and thus one of the best designs of the second half of the XXth Century. The Ball Chair is a room within a room, a shaded atmosphere is created within the chair, a totally different concept to what a chair was until the arrival of Silla Ball. This atmosphere, protected from external noises, is perfect for reading a book or making a call.

This chair with futuristic features, was handcrafted in small quantities with fiberglass. Being his concept of modernist furniture

Bond: Worf! Worf!

Although it is a chair made in the last century, we can see the futuristic vision of Eero, as an ancient element can fit perfectly with the minimalist design of the present. Obviously, this is an allusion to the "imperfect precognition" of subject 8. Bond can see the future, and this allows him to adapt to the possible circumstances that may happen.

It is also designed to generate a quiet space for the user, an imperturbable space. Which would be best for our canine friend if he wants to take a nap in peace. I love the reference to television with antennas, which is a way of interpreting Bond's powers, being diffuse images that are captured briefly, very similar to his sporadic and involuntary visions to black and white. Agent Bond Forger just found his ideal chair.

SxF Vol 5 · Yuri Briar - Barcelona Chair

Is a chair designed by Lilly Reich and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the German Pavilion at the International Exposition of 1929.

The design was developed at a time of reconstruction after World War I. The designers who prepared the German pavilion had the responsibility of showing the resurgence of German culture. Having to take advantage of new technologies and materials developed during the war. In this sense, the design of the chair is a cutting-edge proposal for domestic use.

Its form is based on the "sella curulis," a type of chair used by Roman magistrates. The connection to the view of the structural frame and the seat dampers as separate components, and the use of traditional and modern materials, adjusting to their functional purpose, perfectly adapt to Mies' conception of the international style.

Lilly Reich was a modern German designer.Because of the First World War she focused on fashion and furniture and set up her workshop as a shop. Its production was highlighted in the newspaper Fachblatt für Holzarbeiter in 1915. That same year she organized the Exhibition for the Fashion Industry in Berlin.

Unlike you, I love my family. I love my sister. And I will do whatever it takes to protect this country that she lives in

It is curious how this chair represents fundamental elements of Yuri's personality, which many people ignore because they focus on his flaws but do not see the background of the character

The Barcelona chair was inspired by sella curulis, which was used by the "Roman magistrates": Which, were positions and powers to perform functions related to the administration and political direction of the city. Which fits perfectly with Yuri's work in the SSS as a secret police, along with elements such as tape recorders, handcuffs and the gun. And while this chair also evidently represents the German trans-world war reconstruction, it is interesting how these elements give a clear outline of what the SSS stands for in Ostania, and thus Yuri. In his work hunting spy and traitors.

But there is a totally opposite and contrasting element. The white orchids, which in the symbology of flowers symbolizes the purity of intentions, elegance, eternal love through time, and full of innocence. They are a popular gift for people you love and admire, can be given to friends, family and of course couples. But this is considered a symbol of admiration and good intentions

Which, represents perfectly, that although Yuri is an extremist person, crooked and erratic behaviors. Love for his family is sincere, pure, and full of admiration. It is obvious that the way Yuri demonstrates his love is obsessive, and strange (we can say it is wrong), but he does so not because he is "someone evil," but because he is someone who does not know the boundaries between the "normal" and the non-normal. (I regret veryyyy much, that in the anime they changed for roses, because they completely change the meaning of Endo in the manga and on the cover… but well…)

One detail that makes me imperdible, is that this chair was designed primarily by a woman- Lilly Reich. Who was one of those few women's representatives in Germany, especially exalting the work of women at home.

Why does this represent Yuri? Because Yuri values the work of the woman, or in this case, the work of Yor that she did over the years that she tried to raise him. Being a pillar in the personality of Yuri, who lives conscious of the dark world where they live, and the number of people (men) unfaithful to their wives, who use them and do not value them. Yuri lives with constant guilt, remorse and fear for having been the "cause" because Yor had to sacrifice her life, and in his immaturity not knowing how to live with this feeling of "hatred" of himself ends up unleashing this guilt on other people who cast away their family.

I will be brief with this mention, as I would like to touch this topic further in a separate post.

In the light novel, Yuri feels a deep hatred for a man (in a child role-playing game testing professions) who says (playing a character) that he "beat his wife" for not knowing how to cook. This shows how aware Yuri becomes that he and his sister are not normal people, especially, that Yor is not perfect in the imposed social roles given to a mother. and he lives in fear that a man might attack his sister.

While it is not right for him to have these problems of self-control and his mind frequently distorts reality (he comes to channel that fear and imagines the face of Loid Forger in that actor) - I understands perfectly his fear in a society with people who blindly create prejudices about "social and family roles." Where they believe it is justification for verbally and physically assaulting someone who does not meet these expectations. The known domestic violence

Yuri really values and loves his sister with pure intentions. And he hates a cruel (machista) society that weighs the value of the woman (his sister) for simple everyday functions. And so he carries this fear to such an extent that he wants to eradicate all this evil so that his sister can live in a society, a country, where she is safe.

(We are all clear that Loid (Twilight) would NEVER do something like this. But this is part of what Yuri must learn. Not all people are evil)

It makes me very transcendent that Endo chooses a chair that was designed mainly by a woman, in collaboration with an architect Mies van der Rohe. And just be the furniture that represents very well every feature in Yuri.

.

SxF Vol 6 · Ninghtfall/Fiona Frost - Heart Cone Chair

Designed by Verner Panton in the late 1950s

As an armchair that relays a certain joy of living, it is especially suitable for informal spaces or to give a fun touch to an excessively sober environment. However, on a decorative level it is a piece that takes the focus of all the looks by itself, so it must be clear that it channels the rest of the decoration.

In the words of his designer:

«"Most people spend their lives living in a sad grey-beige conformity, with a deadly fear of wearing colors. By experimenting with lighting, colors, fabrics and furniture, and using the latest technologies, he tried to show new ways to encourage people to use their imagination and make their surroundings more exciting. "»

"What a wonderful man you are, Twilight. I'll achieve peace between East and West. And I’ll do it all for you"

I think, although this armchair is too obvious, it doesn't stop being interesting.

It is curious how the function of this chair is to contrast with a sober and dark space. This happens aesthetically on the cover, seeing the color red, a warm and passionate color, contrast with the cold and sober appearance of Nightfall, and its cold tones. In fact, this goes from being merely aesthetic, to representing Nightfall's personality.

Who although outside is a cold woman, would be, ruthless that she does not mind using tricks to achieve her goals. Deep down is a tender woman, thirsty for romantic love, sweet and a life of fairy tales. The function of this chair is to manifest joy and feelings, despite being in a place with minimal decoration.

Which is perfect, considering that Nightfall (being so extreme) took to the letter Twilight's instructions to "show no emotions," becoming an inexpressive woman but wanting to shout to the whole world her desires to "love"

As mentioned, this chair should "channel" the rest of the home decoration. Which alludes to Nightfall's every action being channeled by her fervent desires to get love from twilight. Desiring to find world peace only for him

I'd say I worry about seeing Yor's photograph with a scissors nailed to her forehead. But knowing that Endo clarified that Ninghtfall is very weak to Yor and that she could with a finger send her to outer space if she wanted to… well… let the agent live in her fantasy "xD

This is the right chair for a passionate (and obsessive) woman who appears to be cold and calculating

.

.

.

I hope you like this little contribution from me. I really love the idea of Endo doing such a detailed study of his characters and the way he symbolically represents them. The chairs being not only an aesthetic element, but something significant!

After chapter 66 was released, there's been a lot of talks about Twilight using Yor to his advantage and while technically it is true, I don't agree with the phrasing. To me, saying "Person A is using person B" means that A is actively making B do something for their own personal benefit, much like they would use a tool. And I don't think that's the case here. Yes, Twilight utilizes the situation Yor found herself in to his advantage, naturally so, he's a spy after all. But he has no intention of using Yor here. He's not planning to force Yor into doing something. His plan is to observe the situation in the hopes that it'll lead him to meeting Donovan. I imagine he'll be asking Yor about her time with Melinda in detail, but that's extracting information, not exploiting.

For that matter, Twilight isn't forcing Anya to befriend Damian. The only thing he did force was the apology. Other than that, he didn't even mention it out loud (while some other parents were, in fact, telling their kids to suck up to Damian). Everything else was Anya's own doing.

Twilight does force Anya to study though, but even with that he always reminds himself to take it slow.

Twilight respects both Yor and Anya's free will and that, in turn, earns him a lot of respect.

itsmaferart

I think the problem lies in the ways in which the fans put themselves in the fugue position and do not stop to analyze the full context and reasons for the character.

For starters, Twilight isn't on the Strix mission for an "evil" goal, or wanting to harm someone. In fact, he always showed concern about having to get involved with innocent people on the mission, partly because of his problem relating to other people and partly because there are many risks. Bearing in mind that spy work requires ethical and morally questionable strategies: spying, manipulating, lying, etc. Twilight does not deliberately use this to abuse other people, he uses these strategies when he is working.

He has hinted that he doesn't like to take advantage of his abilities to attack other people out of the blue. In fact, he reproached Franky for using espionage techniques on a girl to go out with her and called it "harassment". When he has done that, it is because there is a whole objective through force majeure that makes him get rid of this moral

Happening with Anya and with Yor. He has obviously always been using them, because the Strix mission demanded it of him and there has been no other strategy on the part of WISE to get close to Donova. Twilight is literally on his own in this regard, coming up with strategies on his own, and receiving vague instructions from WISE such as: "make your daughter an Imperial Scholar", which led to the idea of making Anya friends with Damiand.

However, at no time has Twilight wanted to attack Anya, he has tried to make her life happy either because of the mission or because of genuine desire. And even when he loses his temper, he comes back and realizes there is a limit to the pressure he can exert on Anya (Partly because Yor looks for ways to calm him down). Twilight makes mistakes because of clumsiness, ignorance and because he feels pressured by WISE and the constant threat that the world will explode into war. This brings that anxiety, stress and constant frustration.

The same happens with Yor. there are times when his spy mind becomes a concrete wall that blinds him and makes him fall into distrust, he has shown that his intention is not to emotionally abuse Yor. He always respects and admires her, tries to encourage her to accept herself and be happy.

There are times when his distrust, and his desire to control everything makes him a fool, and apply foolish strategies such as "suddenly seduce my wife". But after a good kick and a (clumsy) assessment of the situation. He stands back and realizes he made a mistake and tries to get better at it.

Twilight is a character, he's in development. There will be times when he will make mistakes, and perhaps lose track of how far he can or cannot "take advantage of the situation."

Although, Melinda's situation was somewhat accidental on Yor's part, but very convenient for the mission and he is obviously going to take advantage of this to gather information. But he never said that he is going to hurt Yor, nor that he is going to allow her to be attacked in the process. In fact, he has often sabotaged the mission for Anya's well-being (despite using her for the mission). I don't see why I wouldn't do the same for Yor in the future

Even if there was the remote possibility that Twilight could be blinded by the mission, or see Yor as an enemy (if he discovers that she is a murderer). It doesn't make a bad person. That's what it's all about, making mistakes and eventually learning from them.

It's not just about hating the character, but understanding the reasons for his actions and seeing how he corrects his mistakes along the way or not.

SPY X FAMILY ·· Chap 66 ·· Melinda Desmond

··········Warning: This contains spoilers ············

Now moving on from analyzing the Forger family's dilemma individually and collectively. I want to talk about the most mysterious topic, the woman who has raised so many suspicions among the fandom. Yes! Melinda Desmond, Donovan's wife, and the first lady of the National Union

In this chapter, which continues through a flashback. We can see several interesting elements. In further analysis I do mention the similarities I find in the character of Melinda with the character of Twilight, as I said, I'm not claiming that Melinda necessarily "is a spy" - although it may be possible. But she shows to have a quite interesting level of intellect and whose only difference is that in her, we don't see her POV, something that does happen with Twilight (Mainly because Anya reads her thoughts)

Breeding Methods:

As we had already suspected, Melinda is not exactly a mother "attached to her children." In a rather curious Twiyor parallel, we see that Donovan and Melinda's "happy" reactions gave both Twilight and Yor a "prick" in their respective encounters. We know very well that although Twilight and Yor are possibly the characters with the sharpest instincts when it comes to danger, and while many normal people will find these reactions "pleasant". For them it was an obvious "alert" signal. But, neither of them managed to decipher the true nature behind these strange faces that hide something.

Both parents sounded indifferent to the Forger parents' apologies for Anya's punch to their son, Damiand.

Something that I highlight is how Endo manages that each element, no matter how small it may seem, ends up being a connecting thread throughout the plot and not a random element. Anya's blow towards Damiand has always had repercussions throughout the entire plot

Both parents downplay the matter, taking it as "child's play." And when Yor insists on apologizing, what does she get?

One of the scariest looks!

Evidently, this is a subject that Melinda makes it clear that she "doesn't want to discuss." and it becomes more curious when you hear close friends mention that it is all about parenting principle: the Laissez Faire

Phrase originated in France in the eighteenth century and means let do or let work freely. Where it was exhorted to eliminate the rules and not to impose the children to follow it.

However, for me and I think the whole fandom. This is probably more of an excuse to cover up their disinterest in raising their children. Obviously, if we take into account Dimitrius' apparent success as an Imperial scholar, and the Desmonds' influential image in society, no one questions this philosophy and sees them as "successful parents."

Now... Why are they so indifferent to their children?

There are multiple possibilities, from "not wanting to have children, but they did so because of their influential image, because they belong to a conservative party that follows the idea of the family canon to the letter"; "because their interest is focused on their respective jobs and political and social ambitions" or "because they consider that this supposed freedom will give their children the formation of character, since attachment is weakness"... Or all this happens simultaneously... Which results in how lonely Damiand is, his desire to be recognized for even the smallest crumb of affection or approval.

It may be because she "just didn't want to have them." She may have been forced to marry, due to issues of power, politics and social pressures, or she just didn't want Donovan's children... In that case, it seems that Melinda is more focused on her "own freedom" and not on the been her family

Circle of friendship

Imagine that Melinda's circle seems "impenetrable". They confirm that her current friendships are all those before getting married. But Melinda deliberately interrupts this conversation. She also comments that because of her status she doesn't have many friends: It's probably to avoid relationships with people who want to get something from her but also for security so that any spy doesn't try to get something from her.

And it reveals important details:

The omission of her identity:

In a supposed "white lie", Melinda confesses that she intentionally didn't mention his name. Because she is surely pondering Yor's reactions, from the moment she saved her. If this was a chance meeting, then Melinda was analyzing the reasons why Yor saved her. Did he do it because he knows who I am? Or did he just decide to do it? If she's as analytical a person as Twilight himself, then she could have instantly noticed that Yor was ignorant of who she was with, plus it was so easy to drag her into a match. In a very short time, Yor opened up to Melinda and showed her insecurities as a Mother, and being in a club with many other moms, possibly this woman noticed how "vulnerable" Yoru can be, despite her magnanimous strength.

There is something clear that all this leaves me and it is that: Melinda found in Yor something that "she wants or needs"

Although, there is a possibility that Melinda has an interest in being friends with Yor. She may also have an interest in "influencing her," other than ideas like "parenting, and political and social concepts." And she uses "friendship" as her means to get closer to her. I don't know if she does it specifically out of interest in Loid Forger's character (since we don't know how Donovan had described Loid in private) or if her interest is really in Yor.

Remember how Loid (Twilight) mentioned (lied) that Anya was very moved by Damiand's presentation regarding his parents' professions?

Although I know that Twilight has been a wonderful father to Anya, he is still a spy and will not miss these opportunities to "alter the truth" at his convenience. I wouldn't be surprised if Melinda in this scene played with this same strategy, of "using her son as a pretext" for a rapprochement. (Because obviously Anya doesn't talk about sy-on boy as a friend, she does it for the mission)

Her second look

I don't know if Melinda was trying to contain herself and she can't…or if this look has a subtext…if there is. I'm not sure which one it is.

Now, speaking a bit about the shopkeeper

I think the little that the shopkeeper made clear to us in this chapter is that his view of the Desmonds is... "derogatory." While not radical enough to forbid Yoru, his best assassin, from being friends with Melinda-a clear Conservative Party figure-he makes it clear with hints that he has his own reservations about this family...and can Whether or not this affects the future.

Shopkeeper may have foreseen that they will have to finish off the Desmonds if they discover more background to officially declare him "traitors". And that's when having a bond with them becomes risky. This could be an indirect way of telling us that Melinda (or Donovan) is in favor of the radical faction that took over the "secret government" and caused the division (which may be the same one in charge of the human/animal experiments of the scientist with glasses )

A brief theory would be that in the past: When the conservative party that Desmond now leads financed these secret projects as a future strategy for war, seeking a radical peace where Ostania destroys Westalis. But, the current party, which rules Ostania, although it pursues acts of espionage with the SSS, it may seek peace, but not through a war conflict.
So, now, these secret projects and Donovan's party seek from the shadows to reactivate the war, through other strategies to finance. The Desmonds seek the gratitude and absorption of other companies, financiers and collaborators, and at the same time caused a division in the secret government where the man with glasses is leading the group against Garden and sought to eliminate the entire Gretchen family, as was Olga's case.

Now, Melinda may be directly involved with her husband, they may be pursuing their plans simultaneously, or she may be the one pulling the strings.

If this is so, it is possible that Melinda has also recognized Anya's name (because of the experiments) or as I said, her interest lies in Yor, her husband, or in the entire Forger family. Which would make some sense of her sudden interest in the two sons actually becoming friends.

The freedom of this woman

Another interesting idea mentioned by other very good posts is the idea that Melinda, despite being very intelligent, feels overshadowed in political power for being a woman. Although it seems strange to me that he manipulates Donovan because it is implied that they are not close, she may have strategies and plans independent of his. Socially, she has a lot of power, but at the same time she is very limited by not being able to have much contact with other people and is only limited to her social circle.

Maybe this is the cause that draws her so much towards Yor (personally). Yor is a common woman, with a common life (or so she appears) but she seems to have many more freedoms. In addition, she is incredible and imposes herself with her own physical power, althoung Yoru doesn't realize. Yor ir someone who attracts attecntion and people quickly realizes her potential, but is overshadowed by her insecurity and clumsiness

A chance encounter?

  • The most intriguing thing so far is whether Melinda did find Yor by chance. Her surprised expressions looked quite genuine so it's possible that this was an event in her favor. This would be the best case, since it puts Twilight and Melinda on the same board. For each one to make their own strategies and meditate the reactions
  • If it was a planned meeting, it would be much more dangerous. Indicating that Melinda or the Desmond Family has been watching the Forgers closely enough to know that Yor would go to the mall, and that it would save her. And it would imply that they have managed to override Twilight and Yor's keen instincts.

What we know so far is that Melinda is a mystery.

Spy X Family X Chairs Vol 1 - 2 - 3

I don't know if many know it, but if something caught my attention from the covers of each volume of the manga, it represents a character sitting on a chair. I think that for many readers it is evident that Endo loves keys, codes and references. And since I am the type of person who loves to do analysis and theories, my mind could not help wanting to investigate more on the subject.I clarify that these theories, analyzes and solutions are made from my point of view, and I am not clear how canon they are regarding Endo. With that said, I hope you enjoy it.

I want to be brief with this historical review, but: The years after the Second World War, architects, like all sectors, received a harsh impact, so it became common to look for other work alternatives in the industrial area. Many focused on industrial chair design Why is it curious? Because in SxF the biggest main theme is the consequences the war has had on society, and on the lives of its charismatic characters. Although it is a subtle detail, but very important. Each chair represents a character and aspects of his personality. But the design of these chairs also emerged as an alternative to the war, and each one has a very interesting concept. I invite your own curiosity to investigate a little more on the subject!!!

Vol 1 · Twilight - LC2

Cushion/Cube Chair (1928) Designed by Le Corbusier with the collaboration of Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand

A personal fact is that I am a great follower of Le Corbusier. One of the most transcendental architects. And the reason why I opened this post. The instant I recognized this chair, my mind began to want to further investigate the background behind these covers.

For Le Corbusier, regardless of the time, the attitude or the person, a suitable piece of furniture must be used. The objective of this design and its morphology is to keep the user "always active" at work. The furniture must have a practical and functional response. Being able to be placed anywhere, occupying the smallest space. Said object must be provided with ornamentation, and on the other hand it must generate interest and have mastery of aesthetics. Generating an intellectual order through proportion, generating interest in the cultured man. A design understood as a system, since we can find it in one, two and three bodies, without modifying its aesthetic, technological and functional essence.

Reminds you of someone?

Oh yes it is! To the best spy in the Westalis! Clearly the practical, efficient, adaptable design that meets the needs of the average man and the cultured man. Like any good workaholic, he stays active all the time, alert to any threat. Someone elegant, but simple. Adding those small but obvious details of the life of a spy: newspaper, bullets, binoculars, etc. Everything in this chair represents very well the structure with which Twilight thinks when working, highlighting his more serious side. Matching the expression in this panel

Obviously, LC2 is the perfect chair to define Twilight as the efficient spy that he is.

.

.

Vol 2 ·Anya Forger - Marshmallow sofa

The designers of this wonder are Irving Harper and George Nelson

The circular cushions allude to candies or marshmallows, as their name indicates. They say that they are so comfortable that you could take a short nap on them. A very striking and dynamic creation because of the way it seems that the "candies" are floating around. It stated that "Although this sofa was not built specifically for children, it was my impression that children intuitively understand my intentions of inducing movement through the sofa." It is not only seen as a piece of furniture, but also of art.

This sofa is WAKU-WAKU!

It may be that the childish and colorful design becomes something obvious and the relationship that he has with Anya. This sofa can be conceived in a childish way. The dynamic colors and constant movement match Anya's active, playful but curious and witty personality.

I don't know if this is "over analyzing" but the fact that these cushions of sensation that are levitating I associate it with Anya's powers. That magical, ethereal touch reminds me of the way her telepathy works.

Eccentric, colorful, ingenious, and with colors as sweet and tender as our little Anya. The 007 experiment found its ideal sofa!

.

.

Vol 3 · Thorn Princess - La Chaise

A sculpture made chair, Charles and Ray Eames

Behind this particular design, there is a background element: Based on a sculpture called Floating Figure, it represented a woman. "Designed to support the figure as if it were the very air that caresses Gaston Lachaise's sculpture". Its organic and light shape has the objective of enveloping the female figure, in any position in which it is recharged. For art critics: Gaston Lachaise's Floating Figure, "has no sense of weight or mass, but only the qualities of serenity, strength, and exalted femininity." La chaise played an important role in the fight for modern sculpture to be recognized as a major art form, as opposed to war memorials and portraits.

A perfect altar for our beautiful Yor

It is interesting how this chair has a direct connection with a female sculpture, but also with war. It was sought that the art was more relevant and not only the symbols of war.

These two elements play in an interesting way with respect to Yor. First, it is the character that clearly represents feminine beauty, as a figure of contemplation. But also, it represents an act against the war, which could be associated with Yor and her fight to protect "the peaceful life" of those she love.

Yor is an elite soldier, a legend among assassins, and a symbol of love for Yuri and Anya. Because they are under her protection, giving a beautiful smile and comforting them in the face of danger.

The subtle and organic shape of the chair perfectly matches all the moves Thron Princess makes during her battles.

.

.

It is evident that Endo dedicated himself to finding the perfect chair for each character.

I hope you liked this analysis. Maybe later I'll do an analysis of the other covers. Thank you for reading!! :D

SxF · Chapter 35··· Honey trap. Part 2

(Warning: This contains content from the manga)

I want to analyze some of the SxF manga chapters which I find very interesting. Seeing subtle details that we often overlook. I clarify that I am based on the manga, and especially that all this is based on my own opinion and point of view. Being a manga that continues to be published, many things can change or contradict in the future. So you are free to have a different opinion. With all this said, I begin

Now moving on to analyzing Twilight. You have no idea of the many inconsistencies that this chapter produced in me regarding the attitude and strategy that Twilight decided to apply: The infallible "Honey Trap"

In this panel, Yoru looks beautiful ❤

As I mentioned before, this entire arc was based on Nightfall and her desperate attempts to separate Yor from Twilight, in a foolish attempt to steal her place as "the wife" and mother of the fake Forger family. From Twilight's naive point of view, this entire conflict stemmed from Nightfall "desperately seeking recognition as a spy", wanting to succeed, and this leads to her being careless. Risked all that Twilight has cemented with the Forger family. (You can even see his annoyance when she, in code, speaks ill of Yor). After completing the mission successfully, he is a spectator of a tennis match, where Fiona was "literally" risking her life by not knowing Yor's strength, and hearing the comments of the neighbors at the idea that Yor denounces him with Yuri. Twilight feels a deep fear that this will end his mission.

Which brings us to this point...

Quickly, Twilight's reaction is to talk to Yor to clarify this whole situation and clear all her insecurities. So he suggests going on a spontaneous date. But Yor, as intuitive as ever, suspects that Loid "wants to tell her something — that he was going to replace her as his wife.

That causes Yor to panic, get drunk and unleash a show of jealousy — even though she was so drunk she couldn't even do that.

Twilight was obviously confused, but it's at this point that Twilight's mind begins to think and comes to the most obvious conclusion—Yor has feelings for him.

And what was this man's reaction?

Yes! Just look at that expression. My gosh, it's so hilarious! just had a panic attack

Now, many times I have seen comments on this chapter from other readers and they say that "Twilight, acted in a rational and strategic way" apparently, the idea of seducing and manipulating Yor would be in total benefit for the mission. Therefore, Twilight has no feelings for Yor.

In particular, I do not agree with this position. I think Twilight was totally impulsive and irrational, he wasn't thinking clearly and he panicked (and his feelings)

Now what is the real cause behind the "Honey Trap"?

Twilight evidently took him by surprise, and his face reflects a state of shock. He just doesn't expect this fake date to end up in this situation. He truly believed that Yor was just feeling depressed about her insecurities as a mother and wife, and would end up quitting if he didn't do something soon. However, Yor fell into despair and the alcohol made her speak in a confused way about her feelings. And as usual with him, every time he is afraid he resorts to his most infallible method (according to him)… The Twilight mode.

According to the spy, the most "rational" thing is to take advantage of the feelings of his false wife. And well, maybe he's right, if it weren't for his lousy execution.

The logic behind this strategy is hasty

By now, Twilight knows how vulnerable Yor becomes when she turns to alcohol. She is shy, nervous, and has the raw strength to tear a person apart. Mix that with liquor and you have a potential weapon.

Although, the liquor helped her to express herself, giving her a false security. This is the worst time to make a move.

If he found out that Yor is "in love with him" easily, he could try to reassure her, take her home and wait until the next day for her to be sober. In this way, start his seduction strategies and meditate her reactions.

But what was it that he did?

Oh yeah! He assumed that she was completely in love with him, wanted to start a relationship (a real marriage) and completely forgot how drunk she was and that anything he does could make Yor take it the wrong way (which is what happened) (He even know that she drunk can be aggressive)

Being drunk makes us honest, but it also makes us more confused. Yor was in an unpredictable state, and Twilight just forgot about it.

Another point to note is that Yor does not process the physical approach well when it is fast and forced. She gets very nervous, and ends up throwing punches at random. Twilight knows that Yor has never had relationships with men, her experience is zero. So rushing things with her is not good. She is shy and she is terrified of making mistakes and doing something wrong

And what was his flirting strategy?

Oh yeah! Pounce like a hungry predator on his prey, corner her and ask her to confess their feelings, and to become his true wife… YES, HIS TRUE WIFE?!!

Just look at his face! I'm sure that if Yor doesn't stop him, Loid would have proposed to him, a honeymoon and having a baby that same night HAHAHAHA

Let us clarify that: Being in love does not imply that you already want to get married.

Yes, they may already be married, but putting aside the lie. For Yor, this is her first relationship, not to mention that their closeness is the product of coexistence. There are a lot of things Yor hasn't experienced, and I don't think even when sober she would have accepted it. (Not because she doesn't feel anything for him, but because she still doesn't process relationships well) Surely she would be just as confused and would only make their relationship uncomfortable since she, due to her insecurities, still does not know how to process the role of a wife/girlfriend.

The way Twilight made such a sudden and risky proposal doesn't seem like a very strategic move considering Yor's personality.

Hmm...I don't know, Twilight. Did you do this for the mission? Or are your suppressed emotions for Yor confusing you?

Now… how does it affect the Strix mission?

I know that for many readers and for Twilight himself, making the family experience "real" for Yor and Anya would make the farce more believable, so it would be almost impossible to be discovered.

But, I think this would also cause more problems for Twilight. For starters, this man can barely deal with being a spy, and being a full-time father. Adding a "real" relationship will require more of he. The relationship of both works is because it is an agreement of both.

The two hide their jobs, but both know that their relationship is false, and that one needed a respective partner to cover up their work. This means that they do not feel pressured between them and that the agreement can be "fair", even if they have no idea what the other is hiding. Yor thinks she's using Loid to be an assassin, and Twilight thinks she's using an ordinary woman for her fake family.

And although it is implied that they date each other, and they divide the housework, it is clear that they are not demanding with each other. They both genuinely value and appreciate what he brings to the table. Obviously, Yor is not the type of person who would demand more than necessary from Loid, she is very humble and notices his constant tiredness… besides being naive and believing his ridiculous excuses.

In my opinion...

I think the real reason behind Twilight's attitude is due to two things.

The first is, his fear of unpredictable situations. Something that characterizes Twilight as a spy is his ability to predict unfavorable scenarios, having a plan of action in case that situation arises. This could be the first time that a woman "indirectly" confesses, being in love with him, without even having thought about it. He never considered "conquering" Yor after their agreement as a fake couple happened.

For him, Yor is a sweet and kind person by nature, but she is carried away by insecurities. He never expected that she would feel genuinely jealous of Fiona, much less that she would feel bad about the attention he gave her.

For Twilight, not having seen this surely made him feel cornered — "How could such an important detail escape him?"

Starting a "real" (pretend) relationship, where Yor is in love and he (apparently) doesn't feel anything. It gives him a sense of control, since that's "what a spy would do"—play those feelings to good use for the mission.

However, the theory does not always work if the practice is poorly executed… Which brings me to the second point

Twilight's true feelings

I think part of Twilight's feelings ended up confusing him. I am sure that the whirlwind of emotions that he felt at that moment were the cause of his opting for a "honey trap". Clearly, that was not the best strategy to apply.

Although Twilight wants to convince that he is "the perfect spy" —Someone who discarded his identity, his emotions and aspirations. History has shown us in a thousand and one ways that this is not true. He is a very emotional person, who is affected by the well-being of others. And this has gotten deeper with Yor and Anya

However, he knows that having feelings for someone exposes him to harm and makes him vulnerable. That is why being a spy has been the perfect armor to avoid having to interact, in this particular case, with any woman. All his love ties have been false until now

Still, Yor has become someone special to him. Because she is not an enemy or a target. But her ally in the Strix mission (Although she doesn't know it) this has allowed his to trust her.

Also, Yor may be the "first woman" that Twilight really likes for who she is. Since, his missions surely made him be with women that the real him is not attracted to. (Topic I would like to talk about in another post)

However, Yoru always makes him feel nervous when they has any physical approach, he defends her and he always thinks of her comfort. The problem is that he is afraid to admit any attraction to her, and he prefers to put the mission first so as not to question himself. Because admitting it would be exposing himrself emotionally, and this is his biggest fear. He didn't even question what he really felt about that confession? He reacted as a "spy", not as a "person".

But, it is evident that his feelings end up boycotting his reasoning. Ending up doing impulsive and… clumsy actions

Here, I think his greatest pain is not even that deadly kick, but perhaps the disappointment he has in himself. On the one hand, because he feels that he made an emotional misreading, and two, because he "got carried away" to the point that Yor "accidentally" rejected him.

This is when he begins to notice that being close to Yor has unbalanced him, because he no longer has the ability to think strategically with them, he is not capable of being that cold and calculating spy.

It is clear that Twilight is not yet ready to let go of his "spy" facet, and this will continue to sabotage him until he makes clear the difference between the mission and his own feelings. And for this he must overcome his fear of loving other people, for fear of losing them

Bonus+

And maybe… deep down… a part of his buried heart… raced thinking "Does Yor like me?!". He sometimes acts like a teenager. And maybe… The idea that he and Yor are real spouses haunts his deep thoughts (After all, I don't hesitate for a second to propose it) ❤ But this is my Twiyor side speaking ❤

.

It should be clarified that: I'm sure Twilight is not a bad man. He has shown, value and appreciate Yor for who she is, and respects her a lot, never wants to make her uncomfortable. But sometimes his emotions and the priority of the mission completely blind him and he ends up doing things he regrets.

An example is when he mistrust her. He clearly felt bad from the beginning, and felt worse at the end. I am sure that if he had started a real relationship with Yor (within the mission) it would have ended up affecting him, and feeling much more guilty of manipulating a woman as noble and sweet as Yor is. And this would have affected the mission more, because surely he would have to live repressing more guilt than he already feels

But, drama aside. This is a comedy, and we have to laugh!!!

Knowing that Yor can take a ball off the planet. Twilight and Yuri are lucky that Yor hasn't destroyed them to pieces.

So, I'm sorry Twilight but you deserved that kick and spend a whole week being the chin monster.

One of the best scenes that Endo has given us

Moral: You cannot seduce your fake wife as long as your intentions are not sincere, and she is drunk.

SxF ···Chapter 35 · Honey trap. Part. 1

Warning: This contains content from the manga)

I want to analyze some of the SxF manga chapters which I find very interesting. Seeing subtle details that we often overlook. I clarify that I am based on the manga, and especially that all this is based on my own opinion and point of view. Being a manga that continues to be published, many things can change or contradict in the future. So you are free to have a different opinion. With all this said, I begin

Since I've been a follower of the SxF manga I think no chapter has caused me as much emotional conflict as this chapter did. In particular, it's one of the arcs that focuses on "Twiyor" and their relationship.

Previously

Although, the conflict of this arc revolved around the stability that the "agreement" that exists between Loid (Twilight) and Yor, in their false family, and how they responds to a third person who tries to attack, and replace (Nightfall)

We know that prior to this chapter, it was about Fiona, the agent, whose code name is "Nightfall". She wants to marry Twilight, her colleague and mentor. Which led to an internal conflict in Yor, and a tennis match. And though, the agent thought it would be a good idea to challenge Mother Forger to a tennis match, where it ended in a humiliating loss. This did not reassure Yor in the least, questioning her entire role within the family as a mother, but above all a wife. Which brings us to the beginning of the chapter...

From the surface, we know that Fiona's arrival caused both Twilight and Yor to question the stability of their arrangement. Which is the "current" basis of their relationship and the Forger family

Yor began to question her place in the family, and above all, that she could be fired in her role as a mother and displaced by someone more competent (according to her insecurities) having to return to her old life.

While Twilight weighed in if Yor felt insecure about her role. She could out of nowhere resign, or talk to her brother (a police officer) and report him for "apparent" infidelity.

Note: It's funny that the two think first is Yuri

Now, I would like to address Yoru's analysis first before Twilight.

I think if we look at Yor's relationships, prior to the Forger family. The most important and significant has been with his brother Yuri. Who has been her reason to get ahead and be a murderer. Other than that, Yor hasn't had any friendships or romantic relationships (Maybe after chapter 64, this will change).

But, it is evident that Yor has never felt threatened that Yuri would stop loving her. Mainly because Yuri has depended on her, and everything Yuri does is for Yor. To the extent that he eats the toxic foods that she prepared and thinks that it is the best thing in the world!

As far as this is surely, it is the first time that Yor feels that someone can take "her place". Experiencing "jealousy" for the first time.

Now, we could say that for both her (and Twilight), the root of this emotional turbulence is a product of the agreement that she and Loid have. And that this could end at any moment.

However, advancing this arc we can see that there is more to the background (on the part of both) and that their relationship is unbalanced in a way that both are unaware of.

I find it very curious that Fiona never explicitly said that she was in love with Loid in front of Yor. Yes, she made an effort to sow doubts through negative comments, to the point of inventing lies that made her feel that Loid spoke ill of her behind her back. But this is not necessarily, it is reason to think that she is in love

And although, this deduction is somewhat exaggerated and hasty. Likewise, Yor was right! So really, when it comes to feelings, Yor is very intuitive.

I mention that, because Yor is not exactly a "genius of deduction". She is usually very naive. But for her to realize that Fiona's intentions are romantic towards Loid (Twilight), it's impressive! Not even Twilight has figured it out.

Anya: Chi-chi is very clueless.

Here is when we see that Yor's biggest problem is not "her cover" to continue being an assassin. Yor really feels bad at the idea that Loid has romantic feelings for other women, that he sees a more beautiful and that they can help him with household activities (which she mistakenly believes is not good)

This makes more sense with their first meeting. It makes me believe that Yor thought that the only reasons Loid was with her was: "because he is a kind person who doesn't judge her" and "because she was willing to pretend to be anya's mom" and because he confessed "seeing her beautifull" (And well, she's not wrong. These are the reasons why the deal happened in the first place)

But, we see that Yor is able to put Loid's happiness above her own, and to her own benefit. She really thought that she should give up and make way for Fiona, for Loid to "find love", and that loving someone genuinely trumps any deal for profit.

Yor drinking a bottle is adorable

However, the poor woman is not able to be honest with her or with Loid, so she ends up turning to the worst adviser - Liquor.

But what did Yor say?

When the liquor gives her the strength to express herself, Yor didn't talk about the deal, or if Loid was sabotaging their social facades.

She was making a genuine mate claim. Expressing that "she feels bad that she is not as beautiful", or "as good a wife as she would like to be"

I think Yor clearly has romantic feelings for Loid (Twilight), but she's not clear enough to understand them. She feels that all her conflict arises from the respect and affection she feels for him, and although the first arcs she says that everything is motivated by "her work". It is clear that she really wants to be better for him, not just to fulfill an expectation, a role or be on the same level. Loid (Twilight) is someone very important to Yor!

To begin with, he has been someone who valued her sacrifice despite the fact that he has no idea of Yor's true profession, recognizes her efforts, and does not expect anything more from her than to be happy with herself.

It's natural that Yor feels so much appreciation, and above all, she herself recognizes how hard Loid tries to be a great father to Anya.

However, it is clear that her feelings are no longer just platonic. But genuinely, she feels attracted to him

And although it seems that Yor likes Loid. But deep down, what has really won her over is the more sincere facets of Twilight. When he has opened his heart to her and has also confessed to his intimate aspects of his life. And although many of these speeches are disguised by lies, behind them there is honesty.

Yor may not understand the value in this chapter that Loid (Twiligth) talks about his mother, or that he has confessed how lonely his life has been. Since she doesn't know Twilight's past and his true profession.

Although, Yor is much more sincere with her emotions and has been able to recognize that what she feels for her family is authentic love and that each one of them really has a place in her heart. Her problem is that she is still not able to differentiate that the feelings for Loid (Twilight) are not only out of love for life that they both simulate, but that she is really in love with him. She's not ready to deal with a relationship yet, though.

She still feels a lot of insecurities about herself, and this turns into panic attacks every time there is a very hasty approach, causing them to react with violence (caused by alcohol).

Although she has feelings for him, she is not ready to deal with them. That's why I like that the Cruise Arc and Chapter 64 has focused on Yoru's development. In learning to deal with their fears and not to overestimate them so much, since "not knowing what to do is normal". And perhaps, this will prepare her in the future to have a relationship

In my opinion…

I think it is clear that their relationship has become more intimate with the chapters. But clearly, both have a lot of trouble understanding their true feelings for each other, to the point of being oblivious to the fact that what they feel goes beyond "simple friendship"

In Yor's personal case, she still needs to learn to trust herself. She is honest enough already, to recognize that the Forger family is something "important" that she wants to protect. But she still does not have enough certainty and security to recognize and accept feelings for Loid (Twilight)

In part, it may be that all her fears lie with her job as an assassin, and the idea that one day, she will receive an injury or something that she cannot justify, must eventually abandon them....or simply, if her family knew, they would reject her

She just knows that she wants to be with her family indefinitely, and although the Forger Family is always at risk of ending up. She will give her all to protect them

But, it is also associated with her insecurities as a woman.

Yor still doesn't know what she really wants regarding her relationship with Loid. She really believes that she is someone "so small", that she does not deserve the attention and affection of anyone, and thinks that Loid surpasses her in every aspect. Not to mention, she doesn't seem to recognize how beautiful she is!

So many insecurities make her nervous, trapped in a whirlpool of absurd concerns. That causes her strength to react as a defense mechanism, and ends up sending her husband flying.

I am sure that if Yor learns to trust herself, and understands that "experience" is not a determinant in life to be happy or not. And so she can learn to accept the affection and recognition of others. And that will lead her to accept their respective feelings for Loid (Twilight) without having to hit him every time they get close (I hope she makes it before Twilight ends up in the hospital with his whole body covered in bandages like a mummy) XD

I hope that in the future, Yoru can accept her feelings and above all that she is determined to fight for them, and not belittle herself. And realizing that she can really love Twilight and he can love her (as long as this is sincere, of course)

Note: Although, it makes me very, very, very happy that she kicked him. As long as their affection is based on lies and deception, I'd rather she beat him up. Especially when he is the one who deliberately wants to manipulate her.

Final note: I wanted to analyze Yor first, since analyzing Twilight in this chapter is more extensive and complicated, so I want to do the post about him separately.

What do you think about it?

SxF Chap 29 ·Fear of chaos·

Warning: manga spoilers

I want to analyze some of the SxF manga chapters which I find very interesting. Seeing subtle details that we often overlook. I clarify that I am based on the manga, and especially that all this is based on my own opinion and point of view. Being a manga that continues to be published, many things can change or contradict in the future. So you are free to have a different opinion. With all this said, I begin

Introduction: In chapter 29 of the manga, we are introduced to Anya doing a research task about a profession that interests them. The little girl, seeing that it was going to be somewhat complicated to interview her mother (a murderer with very crazy fantasies), decides to interview her father.

To be brief, the chapter revolves around Anya's interview with Loid regarding his fake job as a psychiatrist, although she writes details about his work as a spy. Basically, Twilight says that he chose this cover because he thinks it would be a good way to get close to a lot of targets, which he could get information about.

However, I want to focus on other points that seem more important to

Psychiatrist

It is curious that Twilight is a psychiatrist, and to some extent, ironic.

If you have seen my previous analyses, I put a lot of emphasis on how Twilight suffers from many psychological and emotional wounds caused by the collateral effects of the war and a conflicted relationship with his missing fathers.

From his personal perspective, Twilight claims to have "forgotten and buried his own past", in a "voluntary" way. Since his spy profession requires him to abandon who he was. But, seeing his past, we know that this was a decision even before he was a spy. Twilight suffered enormous losses, to his mother, father and friends, falling into a vicious circle of hatred that led to nothing.

Each of these losses is directly caused by the war

Interestingly, when Loid explains why he "supposedly" decided to become a psychiatrist, it is to "help people, especially veterans who continue to suffer." Although the war is long over, there are people who carry consequences for their entire lives that take a long time to overcome.

This, somehow, is perfect for him.

Perhaps the loss of those closest to him, and the war itself ended long ago. But the damage to him has remained, and this is something that can be seen throughout the entire manga. Either directly or indirectly. Twilight has a tremendous fear of loss and chaos. Therefore, he prefers to close himself off from any idea of becoming attached to another person, much less remember his past.

On more than one occasion, the way the series (Anya) refers to Loid's false profession, is that of "a doctor of feelings"·Someone who helps heal other people's scars. Although he is, perhaps, one of the people with the most emotional wounds|

It seems to me that Endo loves to play with ironies.

Something that also aroused my curiosity is if Twilight would like the profession of psychiatrist if he weren't a spy.

This has been one of the great doubts of the fandom. In this regard, if Loid Forger the psychiatrist can become Twilight's true identity in the end, or if he will finally reveal his real name and return to who he was (Deleted)

The subtle smile of this panel, and the way he compares the skills of spies to understand people through rational empathy, closely resembles the profession of a psychiatrist.

He himself says that the most difficult part of his job is that it be something "secondary". Although until now we have not seen Loid exercising his false profession. I wonder if at this point, he's starting to develop sympathy for his fake work and colleagues.

Taking into account that Twilight is good at analyzing people in a rational way, and knowing that he is a genius in every way. Perhaps it would not be strange if he became a psychiatrist or continued with this coverage in the future, if he decides to stay with the Forger Family

Panic to chaos

Advancing in the last part of the chapter, we could see one of the most hilarious scenes. But that seems to have a very sad undertone

Loid (Twilight) asks Anya, in an attempt to distract her, to play with an sandbox and some dolls. We all know at this point that Anya had not the slightest interest and ended up in an adventure inside the exhaust ducts that her dad uses.

It seemed that Twilight really wanted to take advantage of this situation so he could see deeper into Anya's mind. Perhaps in an attempt to improve their relationship, and to be able to understand her

And what did he find?

Now the first time I saw this scene I can only laugh. You don't know how much fun it is for me to watch this man's panic attacks.

But examining the scene more carefully, I began to see that what happened here is a sign of the terror that Twilight keeps inside him.

To get started. Anya is not expressing anything with that sandbox, she only threw the toys to pretend that she was playing and not be discovered in her antics.

Yes, yes, Anya has also been through difficult things. But in this situation she was not expressing it. She shows her fears when she feels that she will be rejected because she is telepathic, or because she believes that her family will abandon her. She doesn't feel bad about being adopted, on the contrary, she is happy that Twilight, the best spy in the world is her dad, and wants to be with him forever.

However, Twilight. It seems, once again, to project itself onto Anya. His tendency to control everything leads him to think that if Anya (or Yor) feels bad, he thinks it's his fault. His fear of chaos, of facing situations that he does not know how to interpret, to not understand or interpret someone's emotions (his wife and daughter), or that he simply could not foresee would happen, scares him a lot.

Which produces in him large amounts of anxiety

Hence his overreactions, desperately seeking to understand, and jumping to hasty and laughable conclusions.

But obviously none of this is his fault. He is a great father and husband. And it's okay to care about them and their well-being (whether it's for the mission or not). The problem is Twilight's need for control, and how he berates himself or freaks out when there's something he doesn't know how to handle.

But... How not to be afraid of chaos?

When being just a kid had to see that? His own world destroyed!

It is here, when we understand Twilight's impulsive need that everything must work under an absolute, rational order. And his desire to be in control, even of his family's happiness, and to blame himself for things that are clearly not his fault.

Even though he is no longer a child, and he is a professional when it comes to dealing with dangerous situations. Facing situations where "being a spy" does not help him, the uncertainty and fear that he lived in the past make him feel exposed and vulnerable

Conclusion:

It's a great chapter, not only for showing us the false facet of Loid as a psychiatrist, while giving us so much information about him and his own traumas. Endo really knows how to tell us a tragic story in the funniest way. While we can understand a little more how Twilight's fears manifest themselves, even though many years have passed, and he thinks he has forgotten them.

I hope you enjoyed this review as much as I did. I plan to analyze other chapters of SXF. If you have any chapter that you would like me to analyze, you can let me know :D

Twiyor Parallelism # 3.3 Yor maternal Figure

In my previous post do a couple of analysis of Twilight and Yor individually, detailing individual aspects of their personality and the conflict that raises each character in their background. Now, I want to develop an analysis that will be divided into several parts, about these characters at the point where they are similar and opposite to each other, and how their dynamics develop. I clarify, that this is based on the manga and my own point of view, being my own theories of what it means - but this can change, depending on the course that follows the manga that is in issue. That being said, let's get started

After talking about Twilight's perception of both parental figures that make up a family. I want to talk about the perception of Yor and Yuri, and the paternal absence

Even though from Yor's first appearances, we know that she lost her parents. It is not until chapter 24 of the manga that we have even the slightest mention of her mother. Which, is a brief memory. But, as Yuri and Yor mention, the memories of their parents are so old and blurred that they seem to have forgotten them too.

Barely remembering a female silhouette that served them a delicious stew

Specifically, we have no information on the Briar parents, their personalities, their appearance, much less the true cause of their death. Still a mystery until now... So it's hard to know what kind of relationship they had with their children.

However, Yuri and Yor have always seemed to have a good, supportive relationship, and one of their fondest memories is their delicious food —A positive memory— So, I am inclined to say that they were a happy and united family, until the tragic death happened.

Actually, I believe that the brothers did not witness the loss. Since, although, they always emphasize being alone, they never seem to associate this with sadness or a cause. I don't know if they both voluntarily blocked this memory, or if their parents disappeared and they concluded that they died. Twilight, though, tries to block out his parents' memories. It is clear that his parents disappeared for a reason, the "war", which is his motivation and his greatest enemy —to put it that way. Yor and Yuri, on the other hand, don't seem to blame the war or anyone. As if they didn't know the cause. (But, honestly, I prefer to leave that topic for another post)

It is here when we can see that Yor and Yuri suffer a complete absence of both figures.

As I said before, parent-child relationships also work as a reference or a mirror where we project ourselves. From childhood we need a reference to grow, a mirror in which to look at ourselves and a person who accompanies you, listens to you and is with us when we need it. However, children with the absence of both figures can develop conflicts that can alter their entire lives.

Being the older sister, Yor took on the responsibility of raising Yuri and trying to cover all his needs. Both brothers seem to not have any other close relatives (cousins, uncles or friends) who could take care of them. We can only see an old woman on a panel giving Yor advice. But I think maybe the area where they lived was isolated from the war, so they didn't suffer from close range side effects. But, surely, the war caused crises and more isolation. Increasing poverty in isolated areas.

So, even if there were adults who were their neighbors and the rural schools were still active (Since Yuri attended school). Perhaps no adult wanted to take responsibility for raising two children, since that would imply an enormous responsibility and he would not have how to support them. And the same crisis would cause children to lose their parents to be ignored. And for that, no orphanage or association seemed to care that there are two children alone (In addition, that could imply that the brothers would be separated)

Regardless of what the case may have been. Yor was the one who assumed the head of the family

It is believed that losing innocence at an early age is one of the causes of greater insecurities in children. Since, having to assume social roles from a very young age, and not having experienced the stages prior to adulthood, it generates many complexes.

Something that perfectly matches Yor. Although, Yor tried to give Yuri the necessary food and care, so that he received the "necessary nutrients", and prepared homemade medicine. Yor did not understand the excesses. That is why his only rule when cooking is to mix food without having an idea of the proportion and flavors....Or the reason why he takes "very literally" the medical indications to treat a fever

Despite having raised his brother, with "apparent success" (it is not known how he survived xD) Yor has many insecurities about being a mother. Because she did not have a direct figure that would teach her to distinguish the most basic.

This is something Camila understands. Yor and Yuri, lost the perception of good food. And they just got used to eating Yor's killer meals

Yor developed many insecurities about herself. What makes her indecisive and to have constant doubts. She assumes that the roles of the mother are based "on social roles" because the time she lives imposes many ideas about what a woman should or should not do at home. And not being able to perform them perfectly frustrates her and makes her lower her own value.

Yor only thinks that she is good at the things she learned from Garden: killing and cleaning (After seeing the director clean the crime scene, I understood why Yor is so good xD) Because Garden became what raised her, trained her and put her strength to use —I think it goes without saying that Garden is not a healthy reference in everyday life. Which explains Yor's tendency to have murderous fantasies, with everyday aspects of life

Yuri, unlike his sister, developed a much more impulsive, impatient and totally dependent personality. Having no parents, Yor filled all his voids. Developing an unhealthy dependency on her, out of fear of being rejected or abandoned. That is why he feels that he is capable of sacrificing himself excessively in order to have someone by his side. (I want to talk about Yuri's complex in another future post)

In the present

I think though both brothers are very awkward. I believe that both have a relationship based on love and genuine affection. Both brothers care for and protect each other, but just having each other made them dependent, to the degree that one was the reason for existing for the other. Not having a mother or father has caused him not to be able to distinguish what society considers normal or not, or good or bad.

Creating very large insecurities and complexes.

Curiously, their dysfunctional and weird personalities are perfect for their organizations, who have taken advantage of them and end up rewarding their social oddities.

Meanwhile, Garden takes advantage of Yor's physical power, and how willing she is to eliminate anyone while protecting her brother's life. The SSS takes advantage of Yuri's extremist personality and his desire to make a better world.

Although Twilight lost his parents at a young age. He seems to have a much clearer notion of the roles of a father and a mother, the authentic ones and the socially accepted ones.

While to Yor and Yuri, they seem oblivious, being to some extent ignorant/innocent of what is normal or not.

But, if we put aside how broken and twisted the Briar can be. These two brothers are good, sweet and tender people deep down. And although it was by instinct, their main value was to preserve love and peace, to give the other a happy life. Even if they were alone

That made Yor develop her maternal instinct from a very young age and be a wonderful mother to Anya. And although, Yuri is a little off his head, he really is someone grateful, who is moved by those who protect what they consider valuable.

It's nice that with or without parents of little ones, this should not limit us to wanting to care for or start a family in the future. Because it was love that preserved this bond between brothers

Twiyor Parallelism #3.2 ~· Twilight mother Figure

This contains spoilers for the manga.

That being said, let's get started!

Now, that I could talk about Twilight's father, I want to explore the other side of parenthood. And I mean his mom

It's not until chapter 35 of the manga, when Twilight after a lousy attempt to seduce his drunken wife, getting kicked to get knocked out. Endo gives us one of the spy's most emotional scenes. Show us the first view of Twilight's past. ~Of course, this memory was much shorter compared to its backstory, but no less significant

The first thing Twilight tells us is that he doesn't remember his mother's face (and it seems he doesn't remember his father either)

Possibly, he conditioned his own mind to forget these memories as a way to protect himself from pain

Focusing on the past, we are briefly introduced that Twilight's parents' relationship was somewhat conflicting. Most certainly, because Twilight's father used to use very abrupt (violent) methods when communicating with his wife and children. So this possibly led to constant discussions.

However, if we turn away all bad events. We can see that in the midst of fear and anguish, Twilight always had a shelter, a place where he would always belong. The warm arms of a mother

Perhaps, his relationship with his father was difficult. But the relationship with her mom has been the best Twilight had during his childhood

For many, the relationship with the mother is perhaps the most important we can have. Since it is our first contact with the world, it is the closest thing to defining our perception of love and a home

The way Twilight defined her mother was "My mother was strong" - (as opposed to his father who I consider strict) Because, the strength of it, it wasn't maybe it wasn't having a brute force ~it sure was a normal woman- But the way she was always for him, cared for his well-being and comforted him in the moments he was afraid because he felt that maybe his world was ending.

For Twilight the peace of the children (and for him) is the highest priority. But it doesn't matter how many agents exist in the world fighting villains. The love of a family, and in this case, that of a mother are the ones that give meaning to life

I know that losing his friends and losing his father (as far as we know so far) was painful. But losing his mother was the most devastating thing for him.

With his mom by his side, Twilight was not afraid, he had someone by his side, he had love, protection, someone who thought of him unconditionally.

Physically losing his mother was what led him to be totally alone, lost and without any trace of love amid the rubble. Without any love, the only thing that allowed him to survive was hatred.

For Twilight, a mother figure is one who loves and protects her family, who ensures to preserve the union and even if the situation is one of the most depressing. A mother's love reminds us of the beauty and meaning of life --It is here, when we see the importance of -remembering his own mother

I hope this is not misunderstood, but, the perception of a mother/( father) can help us build a pattern that defines the way we want to build love with a couple and form a family

In the present....

It is impossible to talk about the mother figure and not to talk about Twilight's perception of Yor.

Here we can see, that Twilight understands that the figure of a mother is not reduced to fulfilling a social role, or standards that others impose to define you as "good or not"

A mother is not just the one who cooks or cleans a house, a mother is the one who really cares for her child's well-being. Any effort to cook a delicious dish for a family or clean, are simple duties that are fulfilled in a home and that both parents do as part of a household routine.

That's why Twilight is moved by Yor's efforts to improve. He doesn't care about being the cook, but seeing the love with which Yor strives to be better for Anya and for him is the instinct of a true mother

Not to mention how he manifests that "Yor is strong" and this is the feature that most admires/and what he attracted about her

I know the manga uses Yor's physical strength. Even mocking how Twilight is shocked to see a downed cow or a broken meter. But it is also, one of so many subtle mangaka ways to show that for which he is attracted to Yor ~So no, Becky's not wrong. Twilight is attracted to strong women

Although, the force I mean is not the force a woman has in her fists. But the strength they have to overcome adversity and still be able to continue to calm and protect their family, and especially their children.

This parallelism was intentional. I'm sure!

Twilight knows the level of sacrifice Yor is willing (or assumes) to reach for having raised her brother. He thinks that Yor might have had to work with his body to be able to keep Yuri (Although, it's not the case, since she's a murderer) - And he knows that this has done the same with Anya. Despite all the dangers Anya has gone through during the Strix mission, she knows that her mother will literally annihilate whoever crosses her path

In addition, Yor always seeks the mutual well-being of both him and Anya. When Loid is irritated to see that Anya does not understand the studies, or seems to be about to argue, Yor always appears with sweet and optimistic comments that calm the hysteria of both.

Even when he feels cornered, believing he's failing in the role of father. She is backing him up, remembering that he is excellent as he is..... And that is why the figure of a mother (Yor's) becomes irreplaceable to the family.

And also, a way in which his feelings for Yor are manifested

Yeah, Anya feels safe with Yor, but she's not the only one. Do you notice how Twilight often seems to identify and project into Anya. Seeing the feelings of the child who was ever in it?

Well, Twilight also feels safe and secure with Yor. So much to tell her truths about her past, as to tell her something as intimate as her mother's memories.

Why tell him that he was envious? Why not just tell a lie that reinforces his mask as Loid Forger? - He was able to deflect the subject on Yuri and downplay it, or just say "I've been alone since my wife died" - In both cases, he was sure to deflect the subject.

But he didn't, he preferred to tell her a truth: How alone he has been, or how alone he was… no friends, no family, no one

Why tell Yor about her mom? Yeah, he may need to bolster Yor's confidence for the mission. But telling this truth goes against his role as a spy, it goes against his strict law of not relating to others.

Simply the way Anya feels safe with Yor, Twilight also perceives her as a refuge, a protection where he can feel safe, someone who comforts him.

I feel, that without realizing it Twilight is developing romantic feelings for his false wife, because he sees in Yor the characteristics that for him define a good mother and wife. And in particular, he finds in it the necessary basis that build love (even if he is unable to admit it or does not realize it). Respect, admiration, effort, sincere, selfless affection and above all the ability to communicate

And it's pretty clear, as Anya and Twilight feel lonely when they don't have mother/wife Forger by their side with their cheerful smile encouraging them

I think the envy that Twilight felt, is because he would have liked to have someone who would have looked after him and protected him as Yoru protected Yuri

~ In other words, he would have liked to have been with his mother always

I felt sad remembering Twilight's pain. But enjoy the analysis I hope you enjoyed this analysis as much as I did!! :D
