As a YT AMAB, how do I effectively address bigoted cis black men (gay or straight!)? I just had an interaction where a very proud black gay man had the audacity to act like it’s not an issue to deport Mexicans “legally”. I asked him the difference between morality and legality and could not get an answer. Where do I go from here???

He:

-works at Meta BUT

-is Puerto Rican BUT

-has a history of being morally skeezy BUT

-jail would put his partner in jeopardy BUT

-we live in Trump’s America BUT

-two wrongs don’t make a right soooo

The Revolution will not be Easy

It will still be beautiful, but it will be long and arduous and full of grief.

It will look like déjà vu as Trump ascends to power and the anniversary of Insurrection Day passes and it’s a completely flipped script.

Will it be paltry and die with keyboard warriors fuming online with empty fervor as their fellow Patriots freeze to literal death because of a shared avarice overshadowed by the likes of Amazon, Musk?

Or will it be a glorious start to how community and protests are not always in the form of storming a building and holding hostages; not full of hate and violence, but instead an unironic embracing of peace, love, unity, and respect-

through resistance.

I hope it will be filled with moments of people holding hands and laughing in the street while also speaking truth to power for all shades of experiences to see.

To see picket lines crossed because, sometimes, the “dark” side ACTUALLY has cookies and when they do, the only real concept of “bomb” they have is whatever helps make the cookies taste so dank (hint: it’s solidarity and found kinship!!)

And in these glimmers and glimpses of hope, I still have to remind myself that despite the good intentions, the road to Hell is still paved in the gold we’re all forced to covet.

To bend so we don’t break by forcing ourselves to embrace a god in our mouths we did not choose to worship, but had to anyway for sometimes the illusion of choice is best left to let the children play.

So in this Revolution we find ourselves in.

You know what’s going to be a fun experience?

A very real isolation effect from people being banned from spaces (physical AND digital, mind you) and the lack of proper socialization due to social media addiction will lead to an ever increasing state of anxiety that feeds into violence resulting in a spike in crime which inevitably results in mass incarceration efforts where we find ourselves at a “final solution” that results in mass genocide.
