The Azzurre lent their support to Malika Chalhy during today’s match. Chalhy is a 22-year-old Italian woman who was kicked out of her house and even threatened by her own family for coming out as a lesbian. Elena Linari, Barbara Facchetti (team manager), and CT Milena Bertolini all expressed their support for Malika before and after this match. Elena Linari is set to leave Atlético Madrid and will sign for Bordeaux in France. Bordeaux finished third in the Division 1 Féminine, and want Linari to be the a part of their ambitious project.
Highlights of the details of the proposed move:
- Linari will be one of the most important aspects of Bordeaux’s project. Their aim is to challenge PSG and Lyon and in particular, to challenge Olympique Lyonnais’ dominance in French football.
- Linari will also sign a three-year contract and become the highest paid Italian women’s footballer in history.
- Elena will fly to France within twelve hours to finalize the deal. Linari could be could be signing for the Girondins as early as tomorrow.
Women’s football in Italy has grown by leaps and bounds, and Elena Linari being at the center of this sensational transfer is proof of it.
