How would Daenyara and Jasmiri react to meeting each other?

Daenyara would most likely extend the same level of courtesy to her as she would to any other accomplished Sith. She never quite shared Overseer Tremel’s concerns regarding aliens and slaves - to her skill is skill, and if something can be of use to the Empire it would be foolish and wasteful to disregard it. The fact that Jasmiri has managed to survive against all odds, kill Thanaton, and become Darth Imperius tells her that she has those skills. Also, if the Dark Council has deemed her worthy then she has little to add to that.

Jasmiri, for one, would be pretty much screaming internally. My Cathar is keenly aware that it took all efforts of her own crew, an entire cult, four Force ghosts, and a portion of Imperial military (not to mention several near death experiences) to tear Thanaton down. Meanwhile this one woman has been carving her way through galaxy like nobody’s business, won numerous battles that were supposedly unwinnable, and killed about half-dozen Darths (her own master included). All this with basically nothing but her lightsaber and a support team of five other people? And she has an apprentice who apparently has an ability to sense the lightsided Sith, and a lisence to kill them without question?? Hahaha. Yeah, no pressure.

So, there’s Daenyara striking up some standard courteous conversation, and Jasmiri basically pleading the Force that Jaesa Willsaam doesn’t suddenly show up and turn this polite chit-chat with Lord Wrath into a bloody massacre… ;P

Who's more powerful: Daenyara or Jasmiri? Or even Avaleah Astralis? Who will rule the Empire? And what will happen with Avaleah Astralis if Empire will won?

Depends on how you view it. I think in a one-on-one battle Daenyara is capable of kicking pretty much anyone’s ass. On one hand Jasmiri has an entire cult at her disposal and therefore more reach, but on the other hand I’ve already seen just how quickly structures like that can come tumbling down - Baras had tons of fiercely loyal followers, too, and Daenyara still managed to bring him down pretty unceremoniously.

It’s not that Jasmiri is weak (to be fair, she has survived some serious stuff), but I’m still not sure how effectively someone preferring indirect approaches could compete in a ”fair fight”. It doesn’t help that even though she’s quite clever and resourceful, Jasmiri will always aspire to do the Right Thing - even when it’s not smart or practical. Those Sith ghosts who lend her their power? The ones that made her go through all that trouble to properly bind them and control them? Not only did she release them, but she also made sure they found peace on their way out. As commendable as it was, I’m really hoping the seat in the Dark Council is enough to keep people from challenging her (and essentially calling her bluff), because she can not do a fight like the one against Thanaton again. So yeah, honor before reason. Daenyara could most likely snap her in half if she put her mind to it, but luckily for Jasmiri my Lord Wrath isn’t one to challenge the Council unless they give her a very obvious reason. So maybe my Light Side Sith still has some hope after all… :P

Avaleah’s willpower is considerable, too, and she’s capable of great feats, but as a healer/diplomat her powers are more defensive in nature. Hard to say which one would prevail, the offense or the defense. Daenyara is aggressive, hardy, and resilient, and her passions constantly fuel and replenish her powers. Avaleah may seem more passive, but she’s adamant, composed and tactical, and could potentially hold off an aggressor almost indefinitely. I think with the two it would be a matter of which one runs out of steam first.

I don’t know which side would win, but if things were to go badly for the Empire, Daenyara would be the type to go down with the ship, “victory or death” -style. If things were to go badly for the Republic, Avaleah would hold on as long as possible and then eventually fall back to preserve anything that can still be saved - be it people, knowledge, or resources. Pretty much anything that would keep even a small flickler of hope alive, and help the survivors to rise back up.

Hey, first of all i wanted to tell you that i looooove your characters, theres so much thought put behind your main ones that they seem almost alive. Ive been following your blog for years now and they have become a little part of my life. A bit like characters from series, idk if that makes sense :P. Now i am really curious about your less shown swtor characters, would you mind telling a little about them?

Aww, thank you so much! I’m really happy to hear that! :D

Ooh, nice, SWTOR. Currently I have some characters under construction as I’m trying to figure out how they all come together (plus, I realized I have too many humans - so, somebody is going to get re-rolled), but here’s some info about characters that I have already settled on. I’ll try to keep this brief(ish).

The Republic

Avaleah Astralis. Jedi Consular/Sage. Neutral Good. Tiny healer. Reasonable, diplomatic, balanced, and patient to the point that I can’t decide whether it’s enviable or infuriating. She’s also the character I named my Legacy after (what the Astralis Legacy will entail, exactly, is left to be seen as I still haven’t finished her class story).

Avaleah’s Force sensitivity manifested at a very young age so the Jedi Order is pretty much the only life she has ever known. While she has followed Jedi teachings pretty closely (at least so far), she trusts her instincts and ultimately does what she thinks is right - meaning that I fully expect to see some kind of conflict with the Jedi Council sooner or later. And should that happen… good luck trying to convince 5′1″ of sheer willpower that she is wrong once she has made up her mind about something.

Avaleah actually has a proper character sheet, too - see that for more info.

Seela Ven (or Seel’aven). Twi’lek Smuggler/Scoundrel. Chaotic Good. Reckless driver and a card cheat. No situation grim enough that she won’t try to deflect it with bravado and banter. Does not know how to quit when she’s ahead.

The youngest of four siblings, Seela and her family escaped from an Empire controlled planet when she was a child. The smuggler who got them out of there and into the Republic space instantly became Seela’s personal hero (in spite of the fact that the man had no qualms about charging outrageous fee, bleeding her already poor and desperate parents essentially dry), and that was basically when she decided that one day she’d have a ship of her own.

Seela would like to consider herself as a highly practical business person, but honestly she has far too many soft spots for that. She might go for “what’s in it for me?” -speech option, but as soon as some poor downtrodden soul wanders to her asking for help she’s like “oooh, fiiiine, I’ll take care of it - free of charge, one time deal only” (I’m pretty sure Risha keeps a somewhat bitter log of all these “one time deals”… and it’s a long one).

The Empire

Daenyara Quinn (nee Frey). Sith Warrior/Juggernaut. Lawful Evil. Loyal to her own, ruthless towards her enemies, and pragmatic to the core. Hits things like a truckload of bricks and fancies herself virtually indestructible (much to the chagrin of her poor husband who has the thankless task of keeping med watch for Lord Wrath).

Born to an Imperial family and trained in private for years before actually entering the Sith Academy, Daenyara is a mix of both worlds. As much as she respects power and tests of strength, she deeply dislikes the in-fighting that wastes precious resources which would be better used against the Republic.

She, too, has an actual character sheet with more in-depth info.

Jasmiri Kallig. Cathar Sith Inquisitor/Sorcerer. Neutral Good. Former slave, current member of the Dark Council. Hobbies include confusing Jedi with her alignment, and annoying fellow Sith just by existing (*rubs her alien slave hands all over precious Sith traditions* “Does this upset you?”:)).

Initally Jasmiri absolutely did not want to become a Sith - until it occured to her that the instructors in the academy actually had no intention of letting her succeed in the first place. Naturally, she then decided to survive as long as she could just to spite them, and somehow she ended up being the last one standing. Realizing that as a Sith she could have a chance to change the Empire from the inside, she embraced the opportunity, and has worked to fulfill her own agenda ever since. If they thought that giving her a lightsaber and a fancy title would magically make her forget her many years as a slave… well, a major miscalculation right there. It’s also one of the reasons why she isn’t looking to switch to the Republic’s side - then who’s going to do anything for all those people at the bottom of the power structure?

Jasmiri is lightsided, but it isn’t really about her being purer or more virtuous than her mutuals (there certainly are days when she’d rather burn down the entire Empire than try to fix it) - instead, it’s about constant conscious choices to not become like those she’s opposing.

And that about sums it up. Trooper and Jedi Knight are still in the works, and the other two classes I have yet to start. I should finish Avaleah’s story first, though - I had full intention of doing that ages ago, but then I got distracted by the Dark Side (thanks, Dae).

Your swtor screenshots look amazing! How do you manage to take them and make them look so great? I just use the print screen key and it doesn't even work during cut scenes.

Avatar

Glad you like them! I personally use Fraps as a recording software - I have it running on the background pretty much at all times. You can take both screenshots and videos (cutscenes included), and keymap those to whichever key you please.

I’m playing SWTOR with highest graphics settings which is great for pics but awful for gameplay, lol. I did have to sacrifice some shadows and all grass to give my framerate a boost, but I refuse to give up high character detail or anti-aliasing (in spite of those protesting noises my computer makes). If toggling on anti-aliasing is too much of a performance hit for you, resizing big screenshots can reduce those jagged pixel lines.

Then, the editing. I usually make some minor alterations to my screenshots such as removing subtitles, cropping, resizing, and sharpening them a bit. Sometimes I might tweak the lighting, too, if the original screenshot is a bit too dark to my liking. I use Photoshop, but any other software should do the trick just as well. Below is one example.

The original 1680x1050 screenshot (looks blurry because Tumblr’s automatic resizing isn’t that great - that’s another reason why I tend to resize the pics by myself before posting them here):

Here’s a close-up of that same full-sized image (as you can see, even here the edges around the character look pretty smooth already):

And here’s the resized 540x424 version, with some minor tweaks:

I hope that helps a bit. I’m by no means expert in this, but this is how the process usually goes for me.

EDIT: An additional tip… ALT+Z command hides the user interface. Very handy when taking screenshots. :)

Messing around in an ancient Sith tomb, and Lord Kallig saves my hide again, lmao. I’m starting to picture him as an increasingly irritated grandpa who is trying to keep my careless toddler of a Sith from running head first into a hot stove over and over again.

So basically:

“Which part of ‘you’re the last hope for our lineage so don’t get yourself killed like an idiot’ was unclear to you?”
