After four hours in character creation screen I finally managed to make up my mind long enough to actually click the “Done” button. I have a character. At least for now. Let’s hope I don’t have to reroll right away.
I wanted to be so many things all at once, but alas, one can only pick one. So, I decided to start with a Pale Elf, a drifter Druid from The White that Wends. I couldn’t find any info about naming conventions from that part of the world, but since “Glamfellen” sounds vaguely Nordic/Scandinavian to me, I ended up naming her Usva which hopefully sounds lore-friendly enough. It’s also a Finnish word for “mist”, so I think it works pretty well considering her pallid color scheme and the druidish nature theme.
Out of all the classes I wanted to try (still itching to play the Cipher one day), the Druid eventually won. I haven’t played as one since Neverwinter Nights 2, and I’m not entirely sure what it will be like in this game, but I remember it as a bit of a jack-of-all-trades class: some melee, few spells, a bit of buffs and heals... Which seems like a solid enough choice for me since I have no idea what the party composition will be like. At this point I’m just hoping the Druid class will be versatile enough to pull me through most situations regardless of what kind of people I happen to pick up.
I also rather like Pale Elf Druid combination for backstory reasons. As far as I understand, The White that Wends is pretty icy and barren when it comes to plant life, and that sounds like a plausible enough reason for a person with nature affinity to venture far north in search of greener pastures (hehe). Plus, she is a literal outlander who comes from a vastly different place - meaning I get to ask all kinds of dumb and obvious questions and it won’t even be out of character. I know barely anything about the world I am entering, but my character wouldn’t be particularly knowledgeable either. So in a sense, it will be two clueless ones exploring the Eastern Reach... :D
