**COLLAPSING WITH EXCITEMENT**

At long last! We are all really excited and relieved to *FINALLY* share Book 2 with you this Friday.

Emphasis on family bonds? Bonding with parental figures??! YES

The Queen Brunehilde was found guilty of witchcraft, trade with the Devil, and murder of ten kings. (Kill her !) / The Black Queen, ten times regidice - What did really happen ? How could two frail women dominate Europe ? Why did they become mortal enemies ?

I noticed a lot of interest in The 2 Queens recently, which reminded me that I had this terrible recording of the trailer, aired during a staff conference in Japan Expo, Paris. Here’s a quick summary :

Savin Yeatman-Eiffel (director), said he wanted a cooperation between Europe (for the setting and design) and Japan (for the technical skills) to work on a period of time that was never really explored before - the Early Middle Ages, a chaotic transition between the Roman Empire and the Franks. The 2 Queens focuses on the rise to power of two women, Brunehilde (Brunhilda of Austrasia), a well-behaved princess, and Frédégonde (Fredegund), a pretty and greedy slave. Yeatman-Eiffel wants to show the raw emotions and feelings of his characters, thei motivations and goal, and most of all their evolution.

The preliminary designs were done by Joël Jurien (a comic book artist who was delighted to work on what is his first 2D project), and really helpful to Toshiyuki Inoue, in charge of the animation, as the man confessed in a video broadcasted during the conference he knew nothing neither about History nor Europe. He said he was at first a bit afraid of what would come out, as the project required much more realism. He’s now quite satisfied with the results, even though some details but still be taken care of (he criticized for example the trailer as “real clothes do not tear up that easily”!). Other staff members confirmed that they were especially attracted by the mixing of styles and techniques in order to get something really original, and the focus on the emotions as the feelings expressed by the queens are the same, no matter the nation or epoch.

The scenario, though, is not finished yet : The 2 Queens was planned as a series of 10x52min episodes, but due to the high graphic quality desired by the staff, became a movie trilogy yet due to a lack of interest of investors, it will be a single movie. They decided not to cut in the original scenario and went for a whole rewriting instead, hence the delay. If everything goes as planned, the movie is to be released in fall 2015 - money still being the crux of the matter.

*the most beautiful film i’ve seen in such a long time. Brad and Andrew are the dream team. this film is absolutely stunning and had us in tears over the sheer beauty.

Danai Gurira from The Walking Dead's Michonne is in this as the main female lead and I'm going to cryyyy!!!
