The common refrain from the left is that corporate censorship is not a limit on free speech because the First Amendment only addresses government limits on speech. That not only maximizes the power of corporations but minimizes the definition of free speech. Free speech is not exclusively contained in the First Amendment. It includes the full range of speech in society in both private and public forums. Yet, liberals — who once opposed the recognition of corporate free speech rights in cases like Citizen’s United — are now great advocates for corporate speech rights, in order to justify the censorship of opposing views.

Leftists try to get around the problem that [socialism] creates in practice by using nebulous theories that define their all-powerful, centralized system as “stateless.” Of course, this isn’t stateless in any sense of the word since any authority that has such absolute power over the individual is the worst kind of authoritarianism imaginable. Human beings need to be coerced before they succumb to such a system or they need to be brainwashed. This is why leftists always end up advocating a theory of a “new man” or “new human being,” who will embrace a utopia that could never be accepted by ordinary, fallible, rational human beings. Individuals are obviously miserable when they are treated as slaves and without the right to own property this is what humans become. Only through the envy of success can leftist ideology succeed, as people police one another because they can’t stand to see others do better than them. It doesn’t matter if you call this left libertarianism or some other weasel word, the end result is the same–people that use ideology to justify murder and theft.

An ACLU attorney said Louisiana’s proposed religious liberty law might let a husband hit his wife & “dismantle the Louisiana legal system.”

What would be really great is if the left would actually read the bill rather than fearmonger over it. But that would be reasonable and they would not be able to push their agenda.

Indiana was right, Louisiana is right; religious freedom laws are needed because the left, being anti-religious, does not know how religion works.
