Thoughts on Thor Love & Thunder

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS - Ye Be Warned

1) The music did not match the film. Considering how great the soundtrack was for Ragnarok, it was a let down in comparison. They didn’t slow or speed up the action to match the beat as with Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song, and none of the choices worked with the film. Welcome to the Jungle by Gun N’ Roses and Only Time by Enya were strange choices.

2) I didn’t hate Mighty Thor but there was ZERO CHEMISTRY between Thor and Mighty Thor. It felt forced and unnecessary.

3) Everything was overtly sexualized. I wish it was subtler, less in your face.

4) Gorr the God Killer would have seemed more of a threat if he had been a 2 part villain, winning in this film so Thor’s character could grow again to the hero you want him to be instead of a joke.

5) I am totally here for the bad acting troupe and they were honestly the best part of this entire film. I am 1000% behind keeping this gag going.

On The Rise of Skywalker

The Rise of Skywalker is better than The Last Jedi but it’s still not that great.

My thoughts now that the trilogy is concluded (There are some spoilers so read at your discretion):

1)  Bringing Palpatine back destroys the original concept of Anakin Skywalker being the chosen one to bring balance to the force by defeating Palpatine.

2)  Suggesting Snoke was a Palpatine clone is a weak-ass excuse for a bad villain.

3) Why wasn’t there a roadmap for the new trilogy story?

4) Considering the lack of continuity when switching directors, why wasn’t part of the original contract that the same director must be available for all three films?

5) At the end of the movie, Rey states her last name is Skywalker. Doesn’t that defeat the entire purpose of the new trilogy that your family name doesn’t define who you are? She should have said “My name is just Rey” with no last name.

6) I thought they were going to make Finn force sensitive given he could use a lightsaber at the end of The Force Awakens. It’s too bad that subplot was entirely undeveloped as that would have been a better end fight, Rey, Finn as a padawan, and Ben.

7) I don’t mind how Leia’s death is shown in the film. Her sacrifice is what made Ben reject the darkside, and I think it’s better than what they could have done.

8) Why did they have Ben and Rey kiss at the end? Their connection as a dyad was special enough without adding some weird love angle. Totally unnecessary.

9) Kylo’s mask when soldered back together looks stupid.

10) The lightsaber battles were better in The Rise of Skywalker along with the show of force powers. Regarding the life healing one, I doubt tit could take effect that quickly, especially when Ben transfers his life to Rey.

11) The sense of time in each film was really off for me. It was hard to discern how long each plot in the film took, and how the films correlated to each other.

Endgame Thoughts

*SPOILERS*

Thor was a whiny-ass bitch the entire time. What the fuck. Literally the worst Avenger. Stormbreaker and Mjolnir should have disowned him because he totally wasn’t worthy.

Wouldn’t have minded a bit more dark Hawkeye.

“That is America’s ass” comment was the best line of the movie.

Captain America IS WORTHY and that was amazing!

The “women” fight scene at the was lame and totally unnecessary. We understand that all the ladies are already badass, there isn’t anything to prove.

Honestly glad they didn’t insert Captain Marvel into the movie more. Her acting skills are so terrible.

Gwyneth Paltrow didn’t seem to be interested in script at all, and her character Pepper Potts really reflected that.

Deadpool 2 sucked.

The first couple trailers released were funny with Deadpool imitating Dirty Dancing and Bob Ross, but the movie was awful. None of his sarcastic zingers landed right and I really didn’t care if anyone lived or died.

The best part of the movie was Domino with her luck sequence. It was just enough where you knew she was lucky but she was also highly skilled so her luck only enhanced her natural abilities. Although how she got to be a badass you have no idea since she grew up in an orphanage and I don’t think most orphanages offer mixed martial arts and weapons training.

The X-Men jokes are stale to say the least. The reference to Logan in the intro of the movie was good but other than that it was all crap. The Juggernaut is waisted in the film. He didn’t even say his best line “I’m the Juggernaut, bitch!” What good is he if he doesn’t say his line?! It’s like Bruce Willis not saying “Yippee ki-yay motherfucker.”

Anyways if you liked it than that’s your prerogative. I hated it and I don’t think anyone can change my mind.

Arrow - Seeing Red

Spoiler Alert. Don't say you haven't been warned.

Season two of Arrow has been really good for the most part. All that's left is the season finale next week, Unthinkable, which I am really looking forward to. This episode had a lot of things going for it–some events that have been hinted at all season and others that are foreshadowing what's to come.

Sara getting the name the Canary for one, was indicated (I believe) at the beginning of this season. One of the African pirates mumbled in french under his breath calling her that. It's nice to have it official though.

I knew Sebastian Blood was going to die. It was only a matter of time. Blood has been a pawn since the beginning of his relationship with Slade and it only became more obvious to the viewer as this season went on. Even though he tried to redeem himself a bit by giving the Mirakuru cure to Oliver, it doesn't make up for what he has done. He's just as bad a Moira.

The other thing is I was not expecting Malcom to come back and save Thea. I was not expecting her to shoot him either. I hope he isn't dead because I think it could make for some interesting plot points later on.

Hopefully with next week's episode we will finally see the conclusion of the Slade and Oliver Island Saga which has been a little stretched out in my opinion. I am ready to see how he shot Slade in the eye with an arrow.

I do have some questions dealing with the island though. 1) After being shot, how did Slade get off the island? Clearly he got off before Oliver did or else he couldn't have built up his little empire of cronies. 2) Since Oliver knows Russian and is part of the Russian gang, is his next adventure going to be with the Russian guy? 3) At this point, Sara and Oliver are still together on the island. When do they become separated? 4) How long have they been on the island at this point? I am a little confused by the time table.

Arrow-Blind Spot

SPOILER ALERT. You have been warned.

This episode was excellent. I feel like watching it again.

Finally the actress who played Laurel was acting decently. She has been crap all season. And this may make me an awful person, but I liked to see her fall; how she was finally busted for being a prescription drug addict and it caused her to lose her job. She had it coming. I loved Oliver and how he finally admitted he has a blind spot where certain people are concerned. About time! But most of all was Roy. The Arrow has finally agreed to train him. I have been hoping for this for a long time. The only reason that the Arrow is doing it though is because it is his sister who is affected. I don't know how I feel about that, but will he reveal to Roy who he really is?

Legend of Korra- The Finale.

I have no idea why, but the last four episodes of Korra became available last night. Needless to say, I watched all four because I have no self-discipline. But now that I have finished watching them, I am not sure how I feel. I want to say I am content, yet I am a bit disappointed.

My main problem was it was too similar to the ending of A:TLA. Good vs evil, the outcome will define the age, etc. Unaloq was just a modern Ozai. Same motives, similar back story; the only thing different was the method they used to usurp power and try to rule the world.

I really thought they would do more with Jinora. In the end, she was a prop instead of a character development. Then they didn't really explain her at all. Why was she able to bring light back? How was she able to sense Raava and no one else could?

Then the connection to the past lives. With mere punches, Unaloq severed all the avatar's past lives. I don't understand this plot move; not only does that hinder Korra but it seems like a metaphorical split from A:TLA, which this whole show is based off of. I didn't like it. Plus, when she needs help, who will she call on? I am assuming that all the past avatars still exist in the spirit world. Will she have to make more journeys to the spirit world in order to connect with them? Severing the connections creates many problems.

It wasn't all bad though. I enjoyed connecting with the cosmic energy, only I don't understand how that wasn't more powerful than Vaatu. Tenzin had some character development, along with Bumi and Kya. The bending finally was good! All this time, all the characters just throw punches as if their boxing with the elements, but they finally did real bending like in A:TLA.  This made me the happiest. I did enjoy Bolin's cameo performance during the opening of Natuck.

There's just a lot of mixed feelings which I hope the next two Books can resolve.

A New Spiritual Age

This episode may be the third best episode of the Season (Beginnings Part 1 & 2 are the best so far). There was character development, an interesting storyline, and Uncle Iroh! All these things made for a really enjoyable episode.

I really liked that they made Korra into a child. She has been acting like  child all season and I think it forced her to realize it (I hope anyways). In A:TLA Uncle Iroh was the one who always helped the other characters grow- Zuko, Toph, Aang, and the one robber guy in the earth kingdom. Bringing Uncle Iroh back for Korra to help her grow I think was a smart move on the writers part. not to mention we all love Uncle Iroh and let's face it, it made us like LOK a bit more. Not to mention I teared up a little when I saw him.

I think the spirit world is fascinating and the fact that we get to see more of it is awesome. Aang meeting Koh was one of the scarier parts of A:TLA, so from past experiences you knew it wasn't going to be an easy journey; shit was going to happen. How Unaloq has such a connection with the spirit world I would really like to know and why Tenzin doesn't.

The one part I didn't like was Korra being forced into opening the spirit portal. I was really hoping that something like that wouldn't happen but that's kinda what the series had been foreshadowing lately. With Aang there was always another way. Instead of killing the Firelord he took his bending away. But with Korra, every decision is black and white. There is no alternative, no moral ambiguity with the characters, and I don't like that.

The end with Korra coming back to the real world and Tenzin asking about his daughter was incredibly sad. This cliffhanger really got to me and Jinora is my favorite character so I am just as worried about her as Tenzin is.

Beginnings Part 1 & 2

Easily these 2 episodes are by far the best episodes out of the entire Legend of Korra series. Not only are they beautifully done, but the story was awesome! Why can't the rest of Korra be like them?

I have so many thoughts on these 2 episodes. Loved the animation. I can see they were looking at a lot of Edo Period prints, and took inspiration from them. Particularly enjoyed the color throughout the episodes. Also the 2D background with the 3D characters was interesting.

I really liked Wan. How he was given the 4 elements from the lion turtles was different. And I can't believe I never realized that the avatar spirit was an actually spirit living in the avatar that is passed from person to person. It makes sense, I just don't know why it never occurred to me. I was really sad when the seconded episode ended. I wanted more story for Wan! How did he come to be dying against that Earth Nation weapon? What happened from the time he became the avatar to that end scene?

Hopefully now that Korra has experienced this journey, retracing the steps of her past lives and learning about the origins of the avatar, she will have matured a little bit. I am sick of angsty, angry Korra who really doesn't do anything useful. Hopefully she has a deeper spiritual connection now. I want to see character development on her part and the rest of the characters in the show. I may be optimistic on this but I am hoping these two episodes have changed the direction of the show.

Legend of Korra: Sting

This episode frustrated me on many levels. In fact, I don't even know where to begin.

Let's start with the plot. Does it have to be so predictable? The best parts about this episode were the boat scene and the ending with Korra on an island. The rest, Mako and Bolin brother issues, awkward character entanglements, Verrick is bad. A:TLA never had these issues!

Character development. A majority of these characters serve no purpose! Lin feels like she is only there because of the last book and her importance in that. Asami as well. Desna and Eska are more annoying than anything. I feel like Unaloq doesn't need his children at all to do what he is doing. Their just in his way. I don't see a point to Ginger, nor do i understand why her hair is red. (I don't know if hair dye exists at this point, and no one else has red hair, so I doubt it's natural).

Did anybody actually read the scripts after being written? Hopefully next weeks episode with Wan makes up for a lot of this seasons shenanigans. The only things really keeping me watching this season of Korra is the fact we will learn more about the beginnings of the avatar and I love Jinora.
