Following half a century of obscurity, the world’s last great private collection of classical sculpture opened to the public today. Ninety-two marble sculptures from the Torlonia collection are now on show at the Villa Caffarelli, part of Rome’s Musei Capitolini, in the exhibition The Torlonia Marbles: Collecting Masterpieces (until 29 June 2021). There are plans to move all 620 ancient Greek and Roman works to a new museum in Rome, and this first step in that direction has drawn feverish anticipation.

Scientists at the Russian Arctic National Park have unearthed the remains of a secret Nazi base on the remote island of Alexandra Land that was abandoned during the latter stages of World War II.

The German weather station Schatzgräber (Treasure Hunter) was located on Alexandra Land, an island in the Franz Josef Land archipelago, from September 1943 to July 1944, during which time it sent more than 700 meteorological reports. Military personnel at the weather station fell ill after eating polar bear meat contaminated with roundworms, forcing the base’s evacuation in 1944.

These morons do realize that if men buy makeup they pay the EXACT amount a women would pay, right? A sexist makeup tax would imply that women pay more for the same product than men, but they don’t.

Furthermore, there is a simple solution to this problem–don’t buy makeup. But I doubt people want to hear that. Instead, they like to bitch and moan and blame “the patriarchy” for a problem that doesn’t really exist but due to their perpetual victimhood mindset they believe it does.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court killed the written law. Today, they killed state’s rights.

The Supreme Court has declared that same-sex couples have a right to marry anywhere in the United States.

Gay and lesbian couples already can marry in 36 states and the District of Columbia. The court’s ruling on Friday means the remaining 14 states, in the South and Midwest, will have to stop enforcing their bans on same-sex marriage.

As we’ve said many times before, the state shouldn’t have any say over marriage in the first place.

And federalism takes another beating from contemporary populism. The Supreme Court has too much power. Jefferson was right.

While we would assume this would at least dampen some of the gay activists fervor, if history has taught us anything, activists are never satisfied. They are just going to move on to the next cultural institution they need to alter or another fictitious right they believe they are entitled to.

In the Libyan coastal city of Sirte, ISIS kidnapped 20 foreign doctors and nurses on Monday afternoon as they were waiting for a bus to take them to Tripoli. According to reports from various Arab media, the hostages are mostly Filipinos, but among them there are also Indians, Serbs and Ukrainians.

Praying for those kidnapped and I hope ISIS doesn’t behead them like the rest of the hostages they have taken. Maybe if the world ISIS as a more serious threat, we could finally eliminate them. Because this will keep happening until we do.
