We compare Trump and conservatives to Nazis because they align themselves with Nazi ideals and values. They may not have been the ones carting off your family in goosestep during WWII, but give them a chance and they will do so to you without fanfare or guilt. Neonazis are a thing and the more we deny that the more room they have to breathe.

This is so funny, do you understand what “breaking” something down means? It usually means taking a complex idea and making it less complex by, you know, breaking it into parts with some kind of explanation - all you’ve done is repeat the same vague ass platitude with zero nuance.

Except that it really isn’t. what does that kind of statement mean? Nazis held a lot of beliefs, the degree and sum total of which forms an atrocious and abhorrent ideology. The above statement could easily (and has easily) turned into a “Hitler Drank Water Too!” absurdity.
For example: Nazis certainly could be said to have been nationalists, albeit extreme ones. I think of myself as a nationalist too. Does that make me a Nazi? Nazi-adjacent?
As much as these self-anointed Nazi-Hunters wish it, stuff like this isn’t cut and dry.

It’s extra ironic, because I’d bet that most of the people who’d call others Nazis for even being mildly conservative, are also the ones throwing anti-Semitic slurs at Jewish people over the Israel/Hamas conflict.

Hey @ people in the comments who went through the ordeal of writing long ass essays and disagree with Taika in this thread - aka NAZIs - unfollow/ block me.
The issue with Taika’s statement is two fold, one after WWII people weren’t arrested for being sympathetic to the nazis or self professed nazis, they were arrested most often for being officers, SS, foreign nazi collaborators and war criminals, not for thought crimes, the Nazis were the ones arresting people for thought crimes.
Now the second point, in the context of the conversation Taiki is explicitly stating that Trump’s rhetoric is nazi like and Nazis are emboldened by him and follow him, which is also factually incorrect, the most blatant example being Richard Spencer who, after realizing Trump isn’t espousing his views voted for the segregationist Joe Biden, Trump is a man who couldn’t give a darn what you looked like or believed, he only cares that you are American and love the nation, CNN Analyst Richard Spencer then realized the Democrats who hate America, push racial politics and hate the only Jewish state were closer to him than Trump.

Archaeologists have discovered hidden gas chambers underneath the ground at a Nazi death camp in Sobibor, Poland, and estimate that a quarter of a million Jews were killed there during the Holocaust.
