“There were only two drunk driving arrests last New Year’s Eve in San Francisco, the lowest it’s been since 2009, according to crime statistics from the San Francisco Police Department given to the Ferenstein Wire.
This recent data comes on the heels of a new study revealing that the introduction of Uber’s low-cost service, UberX, reduces drunk driving deaths all over California.”
Daily FUCKING reminder
DONT FUCKING DRIVE DRUNK YOU ASSHOLES WHY ARE YOU ALL SO FUCKING STUPID
Tonight I literally ruined some guys life because he was trying to drive drunk.
He was a Brazilian immigrant who had racked up a $130 tab with a server, then tried to walk out on it. He’d been in the bar with his girlfriend who is visiting him for a few months from Brazil. He decided he was much more interested in hitting on other women, and decided to break up with her, so he was driving her home to kick her out of his place.
I saw him getting into a truck across the street, so I ran over to try and get his licence plate so I could call it in to the cops, and as I got over there he stopped, so I banged on his window until he rolled it down.
“Look man, I can’t legally stop you from leaving here, but you’re way too drunk to be driving”.
He argued with me for a minute about how he was only going a few blocks, and in the middle of this a cop car pulled up behind him. Turns out one of my colleagues flagged it down and told them what was going on.
He got a DUI, the truck he was in got towed (a work truck that’s registered to someone in BC, so the owner has to drive well over 1000 miles to get it out of the impound), and his girlfriend still left him.
So in the end, he lost his job, his girlfriend, his truck, his drivers licence and probably his right to stay in Canada.
Don’t drink and drive.
good.
Legalization of marijuana in Colorado and Washington is raising highway safety concerns. It's illegal to drive while high on pot in every state.
When they legalized marijuana, they should have also instituted a DUI for driving high. That should have been part of the bill. People who drive high are not safe drivers. This article states that researchers are divided on the issue of whether marijuana impairs driving, but clearly they haven't been to Humboldt County in California, and they haven't seen dumb college students attempting the highways hotboxing.
