Nine years ago, on February 21, 2005, Nickelodeon premiered The Boy in The Iceberg and from this show, a family was born. Over the years, we have cried over leaves that fall from the vine and laughed over Melon Lords and have lived to see another Avatar born into the Water Tribe. I couldn’t think of a better family I would rather be a part of! Here’s to 9 more years of feels, everybody!

Korra Book 2 Premiere to be 2 Episodes

Legend of Korra’s premiere on Sept. 13 will be an hour-long (episodes “Rebel Spirit” and “The Southern Lights”). Single new eps starts 9/20.

— NICK AND MORE (@nickandmore) August 20, 2013

NickandMore is a reliable source. I assume from the phrasing of this tweet that Civil Wars parts 1 and 2 will air separately. So we’d be looking at this for September:

  • September 13th: Rebel Spirit & The Southern Lights
  • September 20th: Civil Wars, Part 1
  • September 27th: Civil Wars, Part 2

Idunno who made this but I had this saved on my computer and basically, by looking at your hands you can tell what tribe you would be in if you would live in the bending world. Pretty sweet right? Personally I would be an airbender, I would just ride around on an air ball all day aww yish

-Asami Sato-

MD: Asami came a little later in the development process. Once we had the idea for a nonbender revolution, we knew we’d need a character who wasn’t a bender. At first, we had planned for Asami to be an Equalist spy who was using Mako to get close to Korra. But we ended up liking her so much that we thought it was better to keep her on the good guys’ side. The development process was so important for Korra, because it allowed us to play with various story and visual concepts before the full production started.

BK: As a self-deprecating artist, I am particularly critical of my lack of abilities when it comes to drawing women. But I wanted to challenge myself and handle Asami’s design alone. I wanted her to have some old Hollywood glamour, while also having some killer racing outfits in her wardrobe.

-Lin Beifong-

MD: Lin Beifong, Toph’s daughter, followed in her mother’s footsteps by becoming Republic City’s chief of police. She was really fun to write for and gave us a good excuse to use slang like “diddly-squat."

BK: While Asami’s design was inspired in part by Rita Hayworth, Lin’s old Hollywood influence came from the harder-edged Marlene Dietrich. We wanted her to have a tough and natural beauty. Joaquim and I collaborated on her design, which was a fun process.
