we collectively agree this show has bad writing most times but that doesn't stop us from liking it lmao

and I do show my love for it. I wouldn’t take the time to compile these whole sibling compilation for nothing, and most of my fanarts are tmnt 2012. I’m sure many fans in the fandom have their own ways of expressing their love for this show, even while offering their criticisms. which is also fine.

I don’t care too much about people’s opinions of the writing as long as we can all admit that these guys are precious tormented souls
I think we can all agree that the writers could have done better on [insert moment/aspect/scenes(s) here]. I just wish we could enter a consensus that this shouldn’t be the character’s fault.

bros really woke up this morning and decided to sum up my entire existence as a 2012 fan artist, damn.
like I was watching Creeping Doom today and i had to close my laptop because I cringed SO HARD at Donnie calling April his SWEET CHINCHILLA?!??
but then i opened it back up, and the literal NEXT SCENE gave me shivers, seeing Leo have to defend all of his siblings while still BRUTALLY INJURED, because that’s what leaders —no, that’s what BROTHERS do.
I always say I’d want the character animation of the later seasons, while the writing from Seasons 1-2 stayed in tact. Bros gave them superb personalities to start with, but when the lore got a way from em, more attention had to get paid to simply trying to move the series forward. Clever character dev was swapped for time with exposition and trying to explain all the batshit crazy things that started occurring. That’s my theory, at least.
It’s the thin line that all the TV shows have to tread for TMNT, of whether to lean into the humor and wit, or dive into the deep (and often tragic) backstories and storylines.
