MUSICAL TOUKEN RANBU MIHOTOSE NO KOMORIUTA 2019

It’s been a while since I released any subtitles. The end of 2019 wasn’t as friendly to me as I had hoped. Too many events I had to attend. Which was very exhausting and the subtitles were neglected. Anyway, I’m back at full strength and bringing some brand new subtitles!

Once again, I wasn’t satisfied simply copying the translations I already had. No, of course I re-translated the whole musical! So, you will find the translations have changed quite a bit, but… I suppose the essence is still the same. Anyway, let’s hope this is an improvement.

Kazaguruma ~Kishou Hongi version

The first time the iconic Kazaguruma was featured in Mihotose no Komoriuta, it was sung by four members and delivered with a sense of hope, yet trepidation for the future. In the background, the characters performed their roles, indicating the passage of time while Tokugawa Ieyasu grew to become a powerful warlord.

In Kishou Hongi, Sengo Muramasa again presents the first opening solo, but with an entirely different mood. Here, the previously uplifting mood of Kazaguruma is framed by a solitary character this time, and his tone is melancholic and full of insecurities. This jarring shift is also reflected in Sengo himself- Gone is the playful “nugimashouka” we have come to expect with Sengo, but replaced by someone who is weary and full of regret. He’s become someone who has experienced loss and is regretful of the past, unsure of his role in this very long mission he’s been sent on.
