"Is God here, Captain? Any god? It doesn't matter. This place is beautiful to me, even now. To see it, with eyes like a child's. There is wonder here, Captain." - Harry Goodsir, The Terror (2018), S1E10: "We Are Gone" // 1917 (2019) dir. Sam Mendes

Is it just me or do some of the backgrounds in Arcane season 2 look *inspired by ai images?
Like, if I saw a piece of art that had this in it I'd automatically assume it's ai generated. I genuinely hope it's not referencing ai but it's disappointing if it is
It wouldn’t surprise me if it was a reference to ai art. I highly doubt that they would actually use ai to animate this, but the style as a symbolic nod? I could see that.
Viktor’s commune on the surface looked good, but there are subtle hints that something was wrong, just like with ai art. The people were “healed”, but they were soulless. Salo didn’t feel like Salo, Hux’s stutter was gone. More damningly, Hux has always been a coward. I like the character, but his defining trait is his cowardice. He would not stand up to Vi or an army of Noxians like it was nothing unless something else was inhibiting that response. That’s not even mentioning the fact that Viktor could take them over at anytime he wished. He didn’t overtly do so, but he could. They did his bidding, partially because he was unwittingly using them as puppets and when the puppet master died, so did they.
Like ai art, things looked pretty and perfect on the surface, but were soulless and subtly flawed on the inside.
Hodgson is so WWI-coded to me. He somehow psychically witnessed the slaughter on the Somme despite growing to adulthood and dying decades before the advent of Germany. He is haunted by trenches that have yet to be dug. "Wispy etiolated soft-spoken subaltern with a gift for language, interminable sadness, and a penchant for Roman Catholicism" is the mold for a type of guy that wasn't supposed to go into production for another seventy years. He somehow knows who Wilfred Owen is.
Every time I read Les mis I’m stunned by Grantaire’s accurate representation of “the kind of person who goes to art college then realizes they don’t actually want to pursue art as a career and becomes an aimless pretentious bundle of media-related information.” It’s so spot-on. That Type Of Guy is just timeless and has not changed since the 19th century
