will and abigail make me HOPELESSLY sad bc he honestly loves her quite unselfishly and doesn’t deliver on a gift that had more to do w him than her (and also that would’ve made her uncomfortable bc it was a lure) and he gives her so much space and what he wants is first and foremost for her to be okay. will’s ability to identify even with people who are terrible made the association between him and her dad so strong but it’s honestly surface level - will doesn’t want to own her or possess her or consume her to keep her from growing up, he honestly projects his own loneliness onto gjh more than he understands his need to Keep abigail. the surface association is there but it crumbles upon a closer look, whereas hannibal’s love for her is far less obsessive but for all the ways in which he has nothing to do with her father, he’s quite similar to him in that not only is he a cannibal but he has no interest in letting her leave and grow up, he wanted to make her in his own image and once she no longer served his purposes, he tossed her aside like she was nothing while will clung to her, desperately trying above all else to keep her alive

#godddd godddddddd yeah#there’s this like. narrative i guess. within fan content that hannibal is Her Father Figure and then they just cut it off there#without making note of the fact that if he IS that for her it’s because he’s the exact same genre of abusive as her real dad#setting things up so that she’ll kill things or let things die. making it their little secret. making her need him#whereas will is…normal. will keeps his distance. will doesn’t make himself her father figure because he’s well aware she doesn’t need tht#he WANTS to be that for her he WANTS to fill the void he made in her life but he doesn’t actually do that bc she wouldn’t want it#he’s the guy that killed her dad. he knows that. he doesn’t try to convince himself he’s something else like hannibal does#there’s the little fishing scenes yeah but even there the picture of her he has in his mind doesn’t see him as a father or even as family#and to go even further i think the fact that it’s hannibal and alana and not hannibal and will that abigail has that ‘i see family’ moment#says a lot about how that family was. the manipulative father and the unknowing mother who ends up bleeding on the concrete#just…a lot. yeah. just a lot#hannibal

Oh, anon, that is a long list of things to fix on a show that’s basically held together with shoestring, goodwill and sheer undiluted gumption.

Here are some bullet points though:

Clary and Izzy would be the main slow-burn romance of the show.
Magnus and Alec would actually talk and deal with the massive backlog of shared and separate trauma they collect across the series. They would have a proper conversation or ten about the mortal/immortal thing.
Jace and Maia would be a thing, Simon optionally tossed into the mix.
Clary and Jace would have their screentime reduced some in favour of more of an ensemble show. A plots would be sprinkled more equally among all the core cast members.
The various platonic relationships and the found family aspect would be foregrounded more.
Magnus would be the focus of his magic loss arc, instead of it getting 80% filtered to us through Alec. He would have an active hand in his own salvation.
There would be a more even division of characters fucking up and suffering the consequences (instead of Clary and Jace too often getting away pretty scot-free).
We would have about ten myth arc/main plot episodes per 20-episode season, and the rest would be monster of the week/Shadow World mysteries sort of episodes connected by the emotional and growth arcs of the characters.
The Downworld would have a larger part. We’d see werewolf gatherings, have warlock-centric episodes, deal with Seelie smugglers in Central Park, whatever. The show wouldn’t lean so heavily on the Shadowhunter side.
The show would have an actual timeline. Minimum of six months per season.

it’s not unique or original but my favorite headcanon about alec by far is that he’s the little spoon.

alec has spent his entire life being the big brother, the caretaker, the protector, always being responsible for everybody around him, whether it’s his siblings or his mother or his people. he’s not mad about it, because it’s just who alec is – he’s just always going to care that way. but it also means that for the first twenty years of his life he’s just lived with this perpetual pressure that never goes away, day or night, and he’s grown used to that weight on his chest.

except now that he’s met magnus, now that he basically lives with magnus, he gets to be taken care of in a way that’s completely new to him. when they’re home together, alec is so often the sole focus of magnus’ attention, which means midnight cups of tea and soothing hugs and someone to always listen to him. but it also means that when he climbs under silk sheets at night, there are going to be kisses at the back of his neck, legs twined with his, strong arms wrapped around him, to love alec and guard alec and support alec. for a couple hours, alec gets to stop being the protector and just be the protected, and i think that on top of it just being very sweet to see magnus holding alec like that, there’s something really beautiful in getting to see alec finally get the chance to be taken care of this way.
