If your democrat friends start muttering about stolen election conspiracy theories, the time to have a sit down with them and express your concerns is NOW, while you still have a chance to reach them, not 6 months from now when they're fully conspiracy-pilled.
Here's some of the talking points and why they're bullshit:
- '10 million votes don't just disappear!' -> Joe Biden's 81 million votes were a statistical outlier, sparked by the recent experience of the Trump presidency. The democrats failed to maintain that sense of urgency, but Harris still got more votes than Hillary Clinton, more than Obama and more than any previous democratic candidate. These numbers are not weird at all.
- 'The Republicans tried to infiltrate election- and vote counting organizations!' -> yeah, they did, and yet hundreds of independent legal observers didn't see anything go wrong enough to raise any alarms. Independent exit polls are also very consistently similar to the counted votes. Tons of international organizations specialized in this stuff observed the election and didn't see a reason to raise the alarm.
- 'But I know a dozen democrats whose mail-in votes were not counted!' -> In any election a certain number of votes are registered as invalid because something was wrong with the ballot. In a country the size of the US, that translates to many thousands of votes. The internet allows these people to find each other, creating the false impression that a suspiciously large group of votes was not valid.
- 'Musk used Star Link to mess with electronic voting!' -> Electronic voting machines are not connected to the internet and dozens of independent media have already debunked this myth. It is absolutely impossible to use Star Link to fake election results.
- 'There is voter disenfranchisement!' -> This is true. This has always been true, for every election. It's an issue worth talking about but it's not a special secret conspiracy that's unique to this election.
But just as importantly as the facts: sit down with your friend and talk about the anxiety that's behind their conspiracy leanings. Acknowledge their pain and fear. Help them find ways to feel less powerless and regain their sense of agency. Take them to a mutual aid event, involve them in a fundraising event for a marginalized group, invite them to a local community effort. If they spend more time feeling connection and empowerment and less time doom scrolling online, they're far more likely to stay in reality.
My rating of Emmrich's outfits that no one asked for and no one will agree with! (careful of spoilers down here)
Everything about the pants, the shirt, the jewels, the collar pin, the sachel and the vest I absolutely love. It’s Emmrich’s clothing from the lighthouse ; elegant and stylish. But after hours of playing, I am still not sure about that coat. It’s the shoulder pieces and the high collar I think. I love the scholar look and it fits the first recruitment quest but then I think it doesn’t suit the exploration and wandering in the mud of Hossenberg of the sun of Rivein. It is too unpractical. Plus, the shoulder pieces prevent me from fully admiring Emmrich’s lovely profile in cutscenes.
So 10000/10 for the lighthouse outfit and 8/10 with the coat.
Nice but less stylish than other outfits. Maybe makes him look a bit older. Also lacking jewelry when I love my man in gold. Plus once you’ve seen it’s a bit similar to Johanna’s outfit you can’t unsee it… Mad scientist vibe and probably a outfit he uses to not get too stained/dirty when handling corpses.
5/10
Nice colour patterns, the upper drapping is stylish and I like the satchels too. There is an alchemist vibe but I’m not sure about the armour plates for a mage, looks too chivalrous maybe. But still solid.
7/10
This one I really like. It has jewelry but is more sobber and practical while still giving off the stylish scholar vibe. My favourite for bringing Emmrich out on quests.
I also think it compliments Emmrich’s slim but not weak built. His shoulders and chest look a bit broad and nice in it. Love the purple waist piece and the pouch. It’s pretty without being too much.
The darker colours are good but maybe not the best for his complexion
9/10
Black and gold, simple but sophisticated and looks very good on him and for his complexion. It give off more like a formal attire vibe. It’s pretty but I’m not that into the total black look. Plus I’m not into that flap on the front, looks weird. Not sure about the cape either, capes are dangerous.
7.5/10
Lewd show of that ribcage sir !!
It’s beautiful but it means Manfred is gone so nah. Skeleton father became skeleton
Grief/10
Voilà ! (no outfit gets under 5 because Emmrich is a stylish man. Love him)
i feel like you have overlooked one aspect of the researcher's robes

Following the author of The Last Unicorn on Facebook is the only thing that makes being on that site worthwhile.
(source)
#all i know about the last unicorn is that alex hirsch hates this film#because the unicorn is a spoiled little bitch that never thanks the wizard for doing anything to help her
???????????????????????? is this true? because....she very much does thank him at the end of the movie
it’s in the gravity falls directors commentaries, and I trust his take
thank him while he’s busting his ass for you and you sit there complaining goddamnit
You should see it. It isn't worth the risk of not seeing it if it's something that you might even remotely enjoy. Especially based on what one person says, no matter how much you admire or trust them.
He can dislike it, but if the unicorn had been buddy-movie grateful, disney-movie emotional, it would have been a very different, very shallow, MUCH worse movie. Like just, really really bad.
She's not bitchy or catty or cruel, she literally does not understand humans or their drive or their big emotions. She doesn't feel love, she doesn't feel regret. She doesn't have ambition, she doesn't desire or benefit from change. She barely wants anything. She's complete by herself. She is content.
She can't be ungrateful unless you expect what is essentially a...a kind of immortal spirit, a place, a forest in the shape of a creature, to be in any way at all human. She can't be a deity, that's an extremely human concept, but she is not a normal living thing in any regard whatsoever.
The entire point of the movie is change, and truth. Front to back, it is change and truth, and the destruction of illusions, and surviving it, and the toll that takes, and the gifts it can bring. It's full of tremendous and intense, unthinkable, incomprehensible, destructive, renewing, life-altering change. And also truth, and the unraveling of illusions, which are everywhere in the narrative, and are almost always dangerous, or hiding something that is.
The unicorn unravels everything around her by being the catalyst for change, and it is incredibly destructive. Things come apart around her. It leads to good things, usually, but it breaks everything first.
She changes on the road, she learns to care about humans enough to help them, to save their lives, and that is very much an expression of gratitude.
She just doesn't care about the wizard questing for greatness. It is irrelevant. Glory is useless. And she's right.
She doesn't experience a fundamental alteration of her nature until she is forcibly changed against her will to survive, and it is not a positive change. It ruins her. It is a tremendous trauma that leaves her empty and broken, and eventually, partly and unnaturally human. She keeps losing what she was, and it is tragic and painful to watch. Why would she be grateful for that? She wishes she had died.
She finally develops something like love, but only after she has forgotten much of what she was. Then she desperately grasps onto it as something to replace what she lost.
Her encroaching humanity is killing what she was (her first response to being human was absolute visceral terror at having a mortal, and thus actively dying, body) a trauma response that allows her to survive, to hide. An illusion.
Love is an attempt to make peace with it all, and it is beautiful enough, but also empty. You are never meant to cheer for it. Only feel for them both. It's a sticking point for some people that the romance isn't done well. It isn't meant to feel right. They leaned on it a little hard in the movie, the book does it better, but it was a "kids' movie" (it isn't) so that was a little inevitable.
Change destroys everything, and it breaks everything.
At the end, when she changes back, who is it she appears to, to acknowledge what happened? And who is it she visits and touches and loves and says goodbye to? She is grateful.
The movie/book does exactly what it set out to do, and I have to say that I don't necessarily trust the judgment of people who dismiss it out of hand.
Yes, I saw it young, in the theater, so I imprinted, but it has been a radically different movie at different parts of my life. I've identified with every character in different phases of my life, so it has had the depth to stand up to easily over a hundred viewings by a half dozen versions of myself. I know people have their issues with the style of animation which, whatever, I think it's gorgeous and I also don't consider that a reason to dismiss an otherwise good movie or show (I really dislike the animation style of Gravity Falls, actually, it bores the crap out of me, but that isn't the point). But the story itself is not like anything else I've ever seen.
If you get it, you get it. If you don't, you don't. But wanting her to be grateful and kind is...really super duper extremely not the point, and would actually be antithetical to it and ruin the story as it is. And it's missing the ways she expresses those things. If that's what you take away, that she is somehow morally deficient, you literally did not understand it, or you haven't seen it, or you have a take so radically divergent from mine I am probably incapable of understanding it.
It is so, so good.
my prof was like "you should italicize the lines in the middle", but I dunno if I agree....
for all veilguard's faults i am really enjoying that when it comes to conversations with solas, you can choose to give him absolutely no leniency. we couldn't really debate anybody beyond a token couple of lines in inquisition(sera, solas, and vivienne stand out) so it's really nice to be able to be a complete bitch to the egg lmao
Ok, to prove to my husband that this is more a European device than a U.S. device I am going to need more non-US people to reblog this.
Do not reblog for science. No science will be happening. Reblog to help me prove a point!
(If I am right I will show him this poll. If I am wrong he will never know this happened)
I know what this is and I own one (from the U.S.) but I also decided long ago that it was waaaaay more trouble than it was worth so I don't actually use it. Not sure where that falls in the survey.
(There is a lot more. Rather than give you all the images, I've copied the full text below.)
- This is actually the most hopeful thing I've read since the election. It's hard to believe we'll all be okay just because we're full of spite or we're on the right side of history. It's easy to believe Trump and his administration is a pile of venomous bucket crabs in clownshoes.
- Take that part about grifters and amateur analysts on the left seriously. Scam artists take advantage of panic and desperation, and a lot of us are feeling panicked and desperate. Also, when people are panicked and desperate, their critical thinking skills suck and they don't necessarily come to logical conclusions even when doing their best. God knows I've fallen for scams and dramatic worst case scenarios. The most important thing is to check your sources and be suspicious of dramatic appeals to emotion (though dramatic appeals to emotion don't mean something is false, either).
- Isolation fries your brain. I know there are lots of ways to wind up trapped in an isolating situation, but reach out to other people- preferably multiple groups of other people- any way you can. Volunteering is a good way to do this.
posts about the alt-right pipeline being compassionate towards young men while radical leftists shun and shame them are not fucking saying "the men are becoming violent because feminists are too mean!" and if that is your takeaway you need to get off tumblr until you've better honed your critical thinking skills.
those posts are talking about how effective the language and approach you take in your activism can be. this is literally cult deprogramming 101. if someone is being taken in by a violent or dangerous group, that violent or dangerous group is usually offering them compassion and solace while working hard to convince them everyone else in the world is their enemy. you are under no obligation to coddle or act compassionate toward these men and their violent ideologies, but if you have the means to try, it is something that you can do to make a tangible difference.
radicalized people are often only one loving friend or family member or external voice away from being de-radicalized. of course that is not always the case, but it very often is. a lot of y'all rightfully understand that you do not carry the burden of being that voice, but a lot of y'all also have a lot of internalized ideas about morals and punitive justice and have simply written off these people as deserving of only the worst and not worth saving.
ten years ago, my grandmother was a fox news watching republican who voted red in every election and very well could have fallen down the qanon rabbit hole if not for me and her daughter challenging her compassionately, walking her through hypotheticals that validated her feelings & proving why they were false, & being patient with her despite our extreme division in political ideology. it was frustrating fucking work! but i decided i wanted to do it, because i could see the horizon and i could see me making a difference!
"misogynists have been saying feminists are too mean for years, get new material" that is not the fucking POINT. the point is that you, feminist, can be the compassionate voice that guides your brother, your father, your cousin, your grandfather away from fucking becoming or staying a nazi. you can show them compassion and companionship. you can be the woman they think of when their alt-right bros try to convince them that women are the enemy. and you can choose to crystallize that image of yourself so wholly in their mind's eye as worth protecting that they may very well choose to reject those harmful ideas.
it's not saying you HAVE to do it! it's saying you CAN do it! don't you 'firebomb a walmart' people all love taking change into your own hands? where the fuck is that energy right now, huh?
i saw this right after and OP turned off reblogs but LITERALLY!!! LITERALLY.
i know the punitive justice obsessed "kill all abusers" ass catholics on this fucking website don't want to hear shit like this but love is literally the answer. fix your heart or die
Reblog to open a rail line from your blog to the person you reblogged this from
our beautiful rail line... (so far)
I love this site
like a quarter of the railway
Really happy with this one :D It took a really long time and it was driving me crazy at times, but it was worth it \o/
i don't care how uncomfortable you are around cis men, queer cis men still need places to go, and sometimes, those spaces will be shared with yours. disabled and neurodivergent queer men and queer men of color especially need a place to go. the queer community isn't the "fuck cis men" community. that is the rad fem community. if you think cis men and people who read as cis men are inherently "too scary" or shouldn't be allowed in queer spaces, you joined the wrong community.
Not socialist in a “I won’t have to work” type of way but socialist in a “I’ll still be working but I won’t be worried I won’t make the rent” type of way. In a “billions won’t be hoarded by one person” type of way. In a “janitors, fast-food workers, child care workers, preschool teachers, hotel clerks, personal care and home health aides, and grocery store cashiers, will live comfortably” type of way. In a “the sick and elderly will be cared for” type of way. In a “no child should work” type of way.
In the "my illness won't condemn me to an early, ignominious death" kind of way.
in a "everyone who wants to have children will be able to afford that" type of way
Pls reblog this picture I drew I’m trying to become famous

Belphie walked right over her, ignored her hissing and yowling, and then settled down practically ontop of her while she gummed at his leg (thank god she doesn't have teeth). then, while she tried to twist over and swat at him, he started grooming her. after that, Pangur gave up and went back to sleep. and so did he, with his cute little paw on her back.
