There‘s once again a massive pile on on Jason and Season 3 across various social media and I need to log off. The funny thing is they‘re all upset about a quote from an old interview, the thing about the viewer being asked to be an „active participant“. Yeah he was hurt and disgruntled there clearly but now we have reached people saying he‘s deranged and how bad Ted Lasso was always anyway and I just can‘t stand people‘s smugness and assholery today.

This sounds like he exists as a real person and then writers shape what he does or how to handle this like…
He is written this way and acted this way and in this case it‘s literally the showrunner. Every goddamn thing on screen is a choice.
And we see him drink. Regress badly, read old texts, look up his ex‘s current partner online. Obsess. Do everything OP mentions. But we also see him work through it. Talk to Doc Sharon. Talk to the Diamond Dogs. Resolve his issues with his Mom, not finally likely, but put into words things he didn‘t say for decades.
And then he goes to be with his son and back to the place he came from, changed. Idk what was so hard to understand about this.
