No but it's...

the way they naturally fall into eachother's roles when the other isn't there.

the instinctual head-tilt when Crosshair stabilized his rifle on Tech's shoulder, as if they'd done it a thousand times before.

It's the fact that Tech clearly told Phee all about his brother.

It's the sad, fond smile on Crosshair's face when Omega said Tech made her memorize all the plans ("of course he did").

It's the way Tech knew exactly where to look for that mirror.

Ohh wait okay I get it.

In the early season they're all haunted by failure at the thing that makes them special.

The strong one who just wasn't strong enough.

The sniper who lost his aim.

The tracker who can't locate the thing that matters most.

The exceptional mind who's been brainwashed.

Which means in the end, we're going to see Hunter find her, Wrecker hold on, and Crosshair make the shot.

And Tech rip off the mask and tell Hemlock "I removed my bitey suicide capsule thingie a long time ago."

...right?

Okay real talk.

We all hate what happened. It was horrible and we all love him. But let's talk about it from a story writing standpoint.

Tech from the beginning of this season has been trying to show his love for his family in the ways he knows how. In Ruins of War, he showed it by perservering to help Omega and Echo even through a painful injury, which is very in character. In Faster, he showed his loyalty to not only his family but Cid by competing in the race. In Truth and Consequences, he helped find the information to help ALL his brothers. The Crossing showed him jumping without hesitation the moment he saw Omega in danger. And then he told Omega "I may not process moments and thoughts the saw way, but it isn't mean I feel any less than you do." Also he was the first person to say hey needed to go save Crosshair.

All of these inherently small moments show how much Tech loves his brothers and sister and his care for them. Tech's love language is sacrifice.

He sacrificed his safety multiple times to help and show his family he cares, he sacrifices things he wants to do to make his brothers and Omega happy.

He sacrificed his life to show his family he loves them.

Tech's character arc this season shows that even though he isn't affectionate, he loves his family so much.

The Bad Batch *spoilers*

Sh*t

Well, if there's one thing to be said for Star Wars, then it's a franchise that certainly knows how to deliver a second-stanza gut punch; a tradition started by The Empire Strikes Back. And, indeed, perhaps never bettered. This is the stage where things typically take a turn for the worse, and the narrative becomes enveloped in the sense of things falling apart. It is here that a hopelessness tone and a grim sense of pervading darkness takes root. And with that, Dear Reader, we find ourselves at the close of the second of an expected three seasons of #the bad batch, and it concluded in rather shocking, but vintage, Star Wars style. The credits have rolled on this season, and consider us shooketh to the boneth.

Well, what happens next? It is anyone's guess, and it is likely we have at least two years to wait in the meantime. Fortunately, there is a thriving fandom community for #the bad batch right here on Tumblr to help that time fly with discussion, memes, and fanart. Dive in, if you will excuse our poor choice of words.

Reasons why I believe this isn't a final Death

  • denial
  • There's a couple parallels between Tech's death and Echo's supposed death. First of all, we don't see a body in either case. Not Echo's and also not Tech's. We do see Echo's charred helmet and we see Tech's broken goggles later on. The team also had to leave right away in both cases, otherwise they would've been captured/killed. And they both sacrificed themselves for the team. If Echo didn't die, then why should Tech?
  • Denial
  • All that character building this season. Like of that was for nothing, then that was terrible writing. If that was to make us more attached to Tech so that his death hurt more, that is also terrible writing. I mean, he got a whole ass lovestory-in-the-making and that's the character you'll kill off?? c'mon. just as he was learning more about people and showing affection and social interaction, and learning how to properly and respectfully communicate with Omega??? that's when you kill him off? c'mon.
  • DENIAL
  • The fact that it was Hemcock that found him. You know the guy who does experiments on clones? Why lose such a valuable test subject? if there were any signs of life from Tech, he must've saved him, if only to use him and maybe modify him (again, Echo parallels)
  • DENIAL
  • ✨ star wars medicine ✨
  • I mean, last season Hunter fell down a cliff from a moving ship and he survived just fine. I'm just saying.
