Short
My first little comic!
If you can't read it, it goes like this;
Hunter: *sighs* Crosshair, I know we don't see eye-to-eye–
Crosshair: That's cause you're short
Hunter:
Crosshair: Anyways–
Doodle based off the Scarf Lore in the new Age of Rebellion reference book.
I wanna know how Hunter became the leader of the Bad Batch. Like, not saying any of the others would have been better, I just mean, there were only four options: a sassy little iPad kid, a trigger-happy man bear, the problematic guy with the toothpicks, and Space Rambo. We can’t assume it was because he was the least chaotic, because nothing could be farther from the truth. In TCW season 7, Anakin asks him who they report to and he’s just like “idk man, if I knew how to fill out a report maybe I’d try and find out” and when Anakin gets snatched up by that lizard dragon thingy, the first thing his brothers do is get set up so that Hunter can windsurf behind it like a maniac because apparently that’s something he tends to do. In TBB S1 when Omega starts that food fight, Hunter tries to de-escalate the situation for approximately 3 seconds before throwing hands. All of his interactions with any sort of leadership involve a minimum of 70% sarcasm. The man has a blaster to shoot droids and chooses to stab them with a knife instead. He left cadet training and the first thing he did was get a massive face tattoo of a skull.
Like, I’m trying to imagine how that conversation went and all I can think of is, “Sir, it’s time to promote one of the members of Clone Force 99 to sergeant.” “…*long sigh*”
The Hunter and Crosshair guide to reconciliation:
- Deflect blame.
- Say the meanest thing you can think of. Really go for the jugular.
- Fight a monster together.
- Puppy dog eyes.
Always fighting
my official apology for that sad hunter art, his siblings love him ok
Bonus
Echo didn't tell him.
Hunter looks like he drinks Tea.
Here is another stupid drawing inspired by something I just to do when I was a kid.

On Pabu, Hunter still sometimes goes into a sergeant mode. It’s safe to say it doesn’t last very long anymore… | The Bad Batch Happy on Pabu series
Anyway the fact that Hunters new scar is so big it’s erased and overwritten his old scar, which was already a noticeable defining feature of his abusive upbringing, dfghhcgjdjlmv there’s gotta be some kind of metaphor here but I’m tired so I’ll come back to this thought later.
this love is alive back from the dead, these hands had to let it go free, and this love came back to me
(this love, taylor swift)
[Click for better quality. The poor kid went from a “prodigy” in the castle, to a stranger in both worlds.]
I'm still kinda fucked up by the line "and never set foot in that throne room again."
That's where Belos almost struck him in Hunting Palismen and is heavily implied to be the place where almost all of the mistreatment took place. All of that happened behind closed doors. Nobody knew. Just the fact that Hunter has such a strong aversion to that room in particular that he makes a point to say they he will never go there again.
All of these scenes happened in the Throne Room. Threats of physical abuse, open emotional abuse, manipulation, and traumatizing outbursts that get blamed onto Hunter & wild magic (which we know is a lie)
The only character stated to know exactly what was happening in there was Kikimora, who we also know delighted in Hunter's suffering & felt nothing for the previous grimwalkers' horrific fates, all because she wanted his position
I think it's likely others had some kinda idea that things were bad for Hunter (such as the Coven Heads) but the show made a point to explain that Kikimora alone knew everything, from the DOU to the grimwalkers to the Collector, stuff we know no one else knew about. However I think that anyone else who knew/had an idea, came to that conclusion not so much thanks to Hunter's behavior as much as because the Throne Room seemed to be where Belos did all of his punishments, as we saw with Lilith in AOAW (not pictured but he makes the Titan heart start beating faster which echoes around the room & absolutely adds to the threat. I'm sure he did that trick often)
So yeah, Hunter explicitly stating he never wants to step foot in there again following what we've seen Belos do to him & others in that room, it's absolutely where the majority of his abuse took place, and it's as heartbreaking as it is powerful that in his moment of telling Belos off he included that he never wanted to be there again.
Hunter said he wants to make sure Belos never hurts anyone ever again, and by mentioning the Throne Room, he's explicitly including himself in that list
Look, you can pry the concept of Camila, Darius and Eda having a support group for parents of ‘should be extinct kids’ out of my cold, dead hands.
