if i have one undying star wars headcanon that’s rooted in nothing but comedic impulse, it’s that a) huttese space has a massive market for space bodice rippers, a large portion of which center on forbidden romances across social strata, and b) anakin skywalker is hopelessly addicted to these, and no one really finds out because no one else he knows speaks huttese. basic is either his second or third language (he’s fluently understanding artoo in TPM, it’s just that we’ll never know if he learned basic or binary first) so i think he prefers the huttese ones, but he makes it a regular habit as a padawan to pop down to the neighborhoods in coruscant with higher huttese-speaking populations so he can get his “huttese romance novel section of the space grocery store” fix.
we know from AOTC that anakin as individual spends most of his time trying to have very big feelings at pretty much anyone in the nearest vicinity to him, so i’ll also go ahead and state for the record that he really likes the specific bodice rippers that also appeal to people stuck in dead-end marriages, where the main character sobs about either a traumatic backstory and/or having their feelings hurt, and the love interest’s primary job is to comfort them, so the catharsis is more about crying grotesquely into a pair of immaculate tits. a combination of emotional catharsis and 99 cent erotica. i would go as far as to say that the emotional scenes are actually the ones that make anakin snap the book shut and bury his face in his hands to try and recover, even. the context AOTC forgot to tell you in the opening crawl is that anakin lifted all of his flirting from these huttese bodice rippers, but specifically the one he read as a fifteen year old about an ancient lord romancing one of her slaves, which was rife with many issues that anakin missed entirely because he was just so entranced with it.
