Dear staff,
you just changed the post width, because there was no reason not to - according to you.
- Is the creative work of your massive user base no reason? Are their efforts, artworks, fanarts, gifs, edits no reason?
- Is the devoted work of thememakers no reason?
You’re literally spitting your own users in the face. Blatantly showing you have no interest in making things functional or comfortable, even unintentionally.
You see, this is what’s wrong with “new features”: most of the time they’re not even useful. I’m sure noone would be complaining if you introduced new elements that actually had a purpose (the sticky header was not that much of a bad idea, may I add, but many disagree). But this? This is ignoring the people that are maintaining your website.
They don’t use this site for you. You’re supposed to be helping them, making their experience easier and more enjoyable. The least you could’ve done is making a poll of some sort to see if people are actually agreeing with the things you had in mind.
Please, if you have any respect for the massive amount of people who use this site to expose the stuff they make - let that be gifs, drawings, digital art, themes, etc. -, revoke the post width change because it’s completely unnecessary (you admitted it!), and it’s ruining years of effort, years of work. All the users had created almost everything with the 500px width in mind, which has been like that for MANY YEARS.
If you value your users, please, change it back.
