Just want to point out that when Killian pushes her here, and gives her a big heaping spoonful of truth, Emma doesn’t shut him down or blow him off like we’ve see her do countless times before. She doesn’t run from a conversation that she doesn’t want to have about feelings she doesn’t want to have. Instead, for the first time, she listens and honestly responds, letting the floodgates open. She opens herself to him completely, sharing all of her fears and feelings about everything.
I mean, do you get how HUGE that is? Especially for Emma Swan? SHE DOES NOT OPEN UP.
Not like this, not to anyone but Killian.
Consistently, he is able to scale her walls and reach the Emma inside. Consistently, he is able to make her feel safe enough to pour her heart out. She doesn’t even do this with Mary Margaret. Or Charming. She doesn’t do this with Henry. Only Killian. Only Killian can unlock this part of her.
And even when she is pouring her heart out, she’s not mad or upset that he was able to illicit it. Her face almost looks relieved to be able to purge those feelings, to share what’s been bottled up so long. She’s looking into his eyes, which are filled with compassion and understanding and gentle encouragement, and knows she can say anything and he will hear it. And he won’t run from her. That he will still be there, by her side.
And then she finishes, and he’s just smiling that knowing smile at her. And she’s not embarrassed or ashamed at the vulnerability she just displayed, she actually smiles. Smiles and asks him what he’s smiling about. And he quietly tells her to look down, and she sees that her magic is returned. She’s surprised, but he’s not. Because he’s believed in her all along, from the first moment. He’s seen the Real Emma Swan inside the whole time, and loves her completely and will never stop fighting for her to embrace herself, to embrace all of herself and the happiness that comes with that.
