I read “The true deceiver” by Tove Jansson before winter started and it took my by surprise how dark and cozy, full of snow and complex characters it was; not so much bc after all it’s tove and I just love her writing very much. I read it a few times during winter and it inspired me so much, I’m the old Lady that lives in a rabbit shaped house in the middle of the woods near the shore, doing nothing but drawing precise depictions and details of forestfloors an moss, eating peas, sleeping and reading during winter, when you can’t see the forestfloor bc of the snow. And I need a Katri who is there and organizes, is strong and wild, and her brother Mats, who is tall and quiet, soft, but very clever and dilligent, always working and living adventures through books with me, whilest building boats night and day. I started illustrating the book, haven’t finished much except one portrayal of Mats Kling. I always heard Florences “My boy builds coffins” in my head when I thought of him, and listened to much Hozier, so inspired by him, 2 songs (“run” & “mbbc”) and the book, I created my first illustration. This is also what I meant by “ lately i’m enjoying so much, I’ll call it ‘secondary literature’ of some sort, to all media. I love how everything connects and intertwines“

Mats Kling - The true Deceiver - Tove Jansson
But in all the world There is one lover worthy of her With as many souls claimed as she But for all he's worth He still shatters always on her earth The cause of every tear she'd ever weep Rushing to shore to meet her Foaming with loneliness White hands to fondle and beat her Give her his loneliness
My boy builds coffins he makes them all day But it's not just for work and it isn't for play He's made one for himself One for me too One of these days he'll make one for you
